To the west of the Windup Space is the D center, a non-profit center devoted to design. The space is like a gallery. Next to it is a creative print shop. (all in the old Market building)
-
Paint or other bright, art-centric methods could be used to highlight crosswalks at less cost than adding a different paving, changing the level of the crosswalk or other more permanent traffic calming
-
This intersection is also a key gateway to the Art and Entertainment District, which should be highlighted
-
There are currently bus stops on each block; there is a precedent for further staggering bus stops, to every three blocks, or so
-
There are sometimes people living in the median
-
There is heavy truck traffic on this corridor
-
Take advantage of the historical buildings in the area
-
Wayfinding or other signage can direct people to public surface parking
-
the bicycle accomodations force bikes and pedestrians to share space, and cause conflicts between bicyclists and westbound left turning vehicles on North Avenue
-
The crossing here, to continue the Guilford bicycle boulevard, is strange and unsafe
-
Property owners should be able to have more leeway to make changes/improvements/introduce furniture on the sidwalk
-
this vacant lot is supposed to be used for temporary arts-related events/purposes this year
-
There is some discussion about trying to provide Wifi extending out onto the sidewalk
-
Any recommendations here should account for the fact that the Circulator purple line will be expanding northward to JHU
-
This corridor should include some bicycle facility; it currently feels like a very dangerous place to bike
-
this is the segment of North Avenue with the most pedestrian activity, but it is also the segment with one of the widest, most open car travel rights of way -- this is a mismatch
-
The sidewalk to access the corridor is very narrow, here, west of Howard
-
Businesses opening in the near future in this area will hopefully draw more daytime foot traffic
-
Street trees are not currently all in one line, but vary in their distance from the road
-
The corridor could benefit from more green space and more trees
-
Art can include light. If not illumating, at least illuminated.
-
Seating, art and other points of interest should be used to create nodes for pedestrian activity
-
There is a lack of on street parking near anchor businesses, which also could serve as a buffer between pedestrians and cars
-
This intersection is an opportunity to place art or signage to show with clarity that one is entering the Arts and Entertainment Distric
-
Lighting needs to be more human scale, it currently primarily illuminates the roadway
