New barrier along side of highway going north feels too close and it spoils the rural feeling of the Nipomo area

  2. June 26 2013

New rock style median barrier looks great, why does that new wall on the side of the highway look so awful?!

  3. June 26 2013

Widen the shoulders for bikes between Johnson Ranch and Bob Jones Trail. Create more car parking at Johnson Ranch trailhead that is off the roadway. Post signs for no overnight camper parking too.

  4. June 26 2013

Do more to relieve commute hour congestion between SLO and south county by extending Ontario as a frontage road all the way to LOVR rather than adding more highway lanes - keep Avila Valley rural! and preserve green buffer between SLO and Five Cities

  5. June 26 2013

It is really difficult to make a left turn from this off ramp on to California - especially during CalPoly and high school commute hours - there doesn't seem to be good timiing between the signals in either direction and sight distance is limited

  6. June 26 2013

Need to extend the glare screen between the highway and the frontage road - northbound 101 car lights and South Higuera frontage Rd southbound car lights conflict with each other at night

  7. June 26 2013

Need to install signal meter for this onramp and extend merging lane. Hwy 101 northbound gets too crowded at times to allow safe merging.

  8. June 26 2013

Need improvement to safely cross San Luis Bay Drive at Ontario Road for all modes. This intersection can be dangerous to cross by car, motorcycle, and bicycles because of the close proximity to Hwy 101's access ramps.

  9. June 26 2013

Need better interchange. It is really difficult and congestion trying to go south on Hwy 101 here.

  10. June 26 2013

Extend 3rd lane more south! Dangerous merging area during peak times and causes congestion.

  11. June 26 2013

This section of Hwy 101 southbound between Mattie Road overpass and Price Street / Hwy 1 Exit needs a guardrail. It is very close to Price Street and cars have gone thru the fence and into Price street traffic.

  12. June 25 2013

Exiting the 101 either north or southbound and then turning left onto San Anselmo is difficult and feels dangerous. There is a gas station, food venues and K-Mart around this junction; these attract vehicle activity entering and exiting close to the junctions mentioned above. Some form of traffic control or slowing appears to be necessary.

  13. June 25 2013

It is difficult to safely turn left at the junction of the exit ramps off 101 (both north and south bound) and San Anselmo Rd. There needs to be four way stop signs or traffic lights here.

  14. June 19 2013

Bicycles that don't want to ride up the 101 on the Cuesta Grade can go up Old Stagecoach Rd but there doesn't seem to be a safe way to get to the other side to go north once you get to the top. Yes, I've gone down the concrete road and crossed under the 101 to the railroad. This isn't good for road bicycles though. Going north on the southbound side of the 101 to get to the next intersection is sketchy! How about a safe bikeway in this whole area, including on and off ramps?

  15. June 19 2013

Bicyclist getting on the SB 101 from Hwy 58 are in a very tight place across the bridge over the 101. Is there some better way to allow bikes to get to the southbound side?

  16. June 19 2013

On Madonna Rd, traveling northeast towards the 101, it would be great to have the lane lines changed for the two left turn lanes for the onramp to the 101. The far left lane should be forced to stay in the left lane allowing vehicles from one lane to the right to enter the right left turn lane. As it is, a vehicle traveling in the left lane on Madonna Rd can continue straight into the right-hand left turn lane, not allowing a vehicle that is in the next lane to the right on Madonna to enter the left turn lanes to the 101. Similar to the lane line adjustments done on LOVR, turning left onto South Higuera, this works very well.

I work in SLO and my kids go to school there as well. I drive frim Shell Beach to SLO daily. The intersection of the northbound off ramp at Avila Beach Dr, Monte Rd/norhtbound on ramp, and the southbound on and off ramps at Avila Beach Dr. is a nightmare. Tourists turing left onto Avila Beach Dr. from Shell Beach Rd do not realize the speed of the vehicles exiting norhtbound 101. The employess of PG&E/Diablo leaving work and others coming from Avila Beach that are headed South on 101 turn too closely to the Shell Beach Rd stop sign. They take that curve on 2 wheels, it seems, hardly slowing down and narrowly missing those of us at the limit line waiting to turn left or right. It is interesting to watch the drivers as they are actually leaning over toward the passanger seat as they accelerate towards ramp entrance prior to being on the ramp itself. This area needs a signal or at least the norhtbound off ramp needs a stop sign. A complete redesign is needed. I have seen people pull out in front of other cars not understanding the speed at which the cars are traveleing.
The Monte Road/ northbound on ramp is another issue. The folks that live in the Squire Canyon area have a difficult time turning left from Monte Rd due to the traffic getting on the freeway. People getting on the freeway in this area accelerate way before they are at the ramp creating another very dangerous situation. During the summer months and weekends I typically use the San Luis Bay Drive southbound exit when heading home in order to avoid using the Avila Beach Dr. southbound off ramp. Confused tourists heading to the beach from Shell Beach Dr., beach goers heading home southbound and people getting off the freeway from the northboud off ramp create an absolute terrifying situtation better to be avoided.
Again, I would like to see a re-design of this intersection.
    Thank you for this opportunity.

  18. June 17 2013

The intersection as you exit the 101 is poorly designed and does not facilitate travel south on Shell Beach Road.

  19. June 17 2013

The third lane into Shell Beach needs to be extended to Spyglass Road.

  20. June 17 2013

commuting from slo to Nipomo, I have seen it all. road rage as the guy pounds on roof of the car next to him for not letting get into the lane, to an SUV virtually taking the space I was in to get ahead of me ( and using the right shoulder to do it) it's insane what drivers will do to get through this merging issue. why doesn't someone from Cal-Trans who's fantasy of the climbing lane trudge through trying to get home every night and figure out-- D-OH!!

  21. June 17 2013

bottleneck and severe slowing on weekday commutes in the AM. signal timing on the on ramp from 4th street ? a lot of vehicles are trying to enter northbound at once and causes almost dead stop congestion

  22. June 07 2013

More signage needed along this frontage road to indicate travel directions to get to Grover Beach. Thank you!!

  23. June 07 2013

What the heck does the sign with a "?" mark on it mean? Does blue/white color format means visitor information? However, once you take that exit, there's no other signage to show visitors where to turn at the signal intersection. Is this for the Chamber of Commerce? Or for the Police Dept located on Halcyon?

  24. June 07 2013

Traffic speeds coming downhill towards this exit are sometimes too fast when the exit lane is already filled with vehicles "stacked up at a red signal light" waiting to cross El Camino Real and enter AG.

  25. June 05 2013

The stretch of 101 on which I most frequently find congestion, between Paso Robles and Nipomo, is in the area heading South from the Avila Beach exits all the way to the last Arroyo Grande exit. With areas of residential and commercial development still open in South SLO County, it is imperative that Hwy. 101 in this entire region be increased to a three lane highway in both directions. In any emergency situation near or on 101 in this region, the path for emergency vehicles to traverse the area will be extremely limited, and resident evacuations will be nearly impossible.
