the south bound on-ramp at the 41 i/c can be dangerous due to all the big rigs in the #2 lane. there should be a larger shoulder or longer ramp to enable a safe merge into traffic.

  2. July 10 2013

41 is way too confusing.. for crying out loud straighten it out and widen it and then maybe it will be drivable and people will actually use it to drive from the valley to atascadero instead of using the 46 and going to Paso

  3. July 10 2013

i dont like using these exits or driving on these roads in atascadero because they are very narrow and dont even have a dividing line. and may i also add that all roads here are VERY vindy and hilly... straighten out the roads here and widen them! and if possible make them less bumpy and hilly

  4. July 10 2013

the 41 is way too windy.. need to straighten out and widen it so people will finally use the CA 41 instead of the CA 46. Im so sick of driving from fresno and seeing the "to Paso Robles" sign on the 41. the 41 doesnt even go to paso! the reason they have the "to Paso" sign on the 41 is because no one even uses the 41 to commute... they use the 46! give atascadero people an easier time by making the 41 more commutable.. look at all the work going to the 46! do the same to the 41!

Need roundabout installed here. Too many people running stop signs, and too many people taking 101 north. It can be very hard to make a left turn when exiting 101 north. Sudden stopping due hill and short ramp and long waiting for cross traffic coming from Price Street.

  6. June 26 2013

Install dual roundabouts for Spyglass and Hwy 101 interchange for improved traffic flow for access roads and access ramps.

  7. June 26 2013

Need an improvements at intersection for traffic and bicycles making left turns at Ontario Road and South Higuera Street.

  8. June 26 2013

Need a roundabout for traffic calming and improved traffic flow at Hwy 1 Exit at Price Street.

  9. June 13 2013

Hwy 101 SB/Las Tablas Exit - traffic often backs up to the freeway during the morning rush hour (app 8:00am)

    Hwy 101/Main Street Interchange
This entire interchange is very active, with thru traffic constantly reducing speed as it approaches, thus creating more congestion. This slowing is due, in part, to the arc of the overpass which causes a reduction in line of sight. There is also a higher than normal number of large vehicles/trucks using the interchange due to the types of businesses in the immediate area (a large commercial retail center, a lumber yard, sand & gravel operation, livestock sales yard, a CDF Firestation, etc.). Also, the frontage road intersections are in very close proximity to the on/off ramps for the freeway.

Suggestion – on the west side of the interchange, construct a roundabout – with a circumference larger than normal to allow for the high number of large trailers that use this interchange. On the eastern side of Hwy 101 (northbound), eliminate the on/off ramps for Main Street, and just north of the overpass, provide j-hooks as the access/exit. These would connect Hwy101 to Ramada Rd (the frontage road) – from Ramada Rd, it would be easy access to Main Street. This seems to be the least costly solution and is similar to configurations found in other communities

Section of Hwy 101 S between Las Tablas Rd and Vineyard Dr
A high volume of traffic in Templeton flows from the area west of Hwy 101 to the part of town that is east of Hwy 101. This is because many residents live on the west side, but the Downtown Business District and, more importantly, most of our schools are located on the east side. In order to get to the Business District and schools, motorists coming from the west side must drive thru residential sections that have narrower streets with no walkways, or bike lanes (creating unsafe passage for pedestrians and bicyclists, often children en route to school).

Suggestion – construct an auxiliary lane from Las Tablas on-ramp to the Vineyard off-ramp. This would eliminate the need for those coming from the west side to go thru the residential sections. This is noted as a need in the Templeton Traffic Circulation Report, updated annually. In the report there are two suggested projects, (a) a frontage road on the west side between Las Tablas and Vineyard, and (b) auxiliary lanes on Hwy101, both northbound and southbound between Las Tablas and Vineyard. At this time, I would suggest a single auxiliary lane along the southbound lanes would suffice to address the current problem. The suggested frontage road would require that a bridge be built over a blueline waterway. Thus, it would cost considerable more both monetarily and environmentally to construct a frontage road. An auxiliary lane would be less costly and take less time to plan and construct.

Re-route Highway 58 around the town of Santa Margarita, suggest it be routed east of the Santa Margarita School to a new connection with El Camino Real on a straight section of El Camino north of town.

  13. June 04 2013

Extend Prado Road over US101 to connect with Madonna Road & redo north bound on/off ramps to conform to new overpass.

  14. June 04 2013

The over passes throughout Atascadero need improvements to facilitate pedestrian and bicycle movement over the freeway.

  15. June 04 2013

From LOVR to Oceano along So Higuera, to Ontario Road, to Highway One could be route for electric vehicles if speed limits were lowered enough to allow small electric vehicle to use the road or small electric vehicle lanes were added. Think of it - golf carts/thinks, etc. going from Oceano to SLO. Nice! Even add a spur out to Avila Beach

  16. May 07 2013

It is beyond past due that the Brisco Road interchange move beyond the study phase and into design and construction!

  17. May 07 2013

The new Willow Road Interchange is a most welcome addition to the area. However, it does not come close to its full potential due to the lack of a frontage road on the west side of US 101 between Willow Road and Sandydale Drive.

  18. May 07 2013

There is great need for an additoinal southbound on-ramp on the west side of US 101 south of Tefft Street. Perhaps at Southland Street where a future interchange is proposed and ROW has been reserved.

  19. May 07 2013

The 3 southbound lanes on US 101 should continue to the Mattie Road/Spyglass Drive interchange where the no. 3 lane would drop off.
