My sense is that although they are super cool ideas, kids do not need the more sophisticated educational tools to play. Less may be more.

The flow of the diagonal cut through seems to work better here than in Design A. I love it.

I love the more open and multi-use design of this concept's space versus a more landscaped option.

Can we make this a "no police parking while running into Dunkin Donuts?" area. . . sadly I'm totally serious.

"Adult Play Area" -- this is an unfortunately named space, although I do like the concept. My child is too old for plastic park and much of what's proposed for Parcel 1. Can't this areas just be name something more inclusive? "Village Green" or "Play Space?" Why shouldn't kids be entitled to run around, kick a soccer ball, or toss a frisbee if they choose?

The library extension is probablematic on many levels. First and foremost, it's grossly incompatible with the design elements of the surrounding historic district. Unlike the adjoining Metro Plaza, it's not a design element consistent with either DCPS or any other municipal building. It looks grossly out of place and should be abandoned, even in the unlikely event that the library can be expanded

I'm not a ig fan of bushes because bushes collect garbage and rats like to burrow beneath them

One negative comment on the entire playground- let there be more natural greenspace and hills. the artificial hills seem like a sad exchange for even the makeshift playground we already have.

Why don't you try to make this space more usable. The bioswale is unattractive and increases pests in the neighborhood. Most importantly, pedestrians (especially after the completion of the Hine construction site, where the entrance is across from the metro) will continue to use the mid-block crossing, so the planners should try to make it more usable.

The raised median is a much better idea then the bioswales. We already have a mosquito invasion every summer and the bioswales would only make it worse. Also, the raised median could have a lovely garden area.

The river in the park will definitely attract rodents.

Could anything be done with this triangle space?

I love the idea of replacing the unnecessary taxi stand that few people use with car share spots, thus increasing available parking spaces.

Other than the water the play area seems like a wonderful idea. Kids need someplace to play and a full playground would be a great upgrade.

Whatever is done, here's hoping the lighting doesn't increase too much. People aren't supposed to be in the park at night and increased lighting would only make people more likely to stay there all night.

I love the underground library expansion! It both gives the library more space and lets people going to the library avoid crossing 7th street.

It's nice that the coffins will be gone, and this is a much better placement for the bike rack.

This addition to the library is fantastic! More room has always been an issue, and this is a beautiful idea.

This is a fantastic addition to the library, although too lavish an entrance may attract more attention than is wanted.

These bushes cut off access to the lawn for people waiting for the northbound bus. People waiting for the bus (especially waiting with kids) like to have the kids run around the grass for the 5-10 minutes they are waiting for a bus. Keep free access from bus stop to lawn.

Even as presented the water is a poor idea. even a little trash would lead to clogging, and a kid is going to put something down there eventually. Also without the water it's a big hole in the ground.
