  1. February 19 2015

Buckley Rd. extension: Higuera St. to Vachell Ln.

I favor the extension, but have concerns about it's proximity to the historic Octagon Barn and how related bicycle trails will connect to the Bob Jones Trailhead at the Barn (with safe crossings as the roads and trails are phased).

  2. February 18 2015

US 101 South County Corridor Study Improvements: Southland St. (Phase 2)

Nipomo needs an additional freeway connection such as the Southland Interchange to ease traffic congestion and allow for proper development.

  3. February 18 2015

    Oakglen Ave. secondary access

We are in desperate need of secondary access on S. Oakglen in order for landowners to exercise their property rights and to relieve the blight because of substandard housing.

  4. February 18 2015

    US 101 / Southland St. I/C

This project would be a good short term solution to help with congestion on Tefft.

  5. February 18 2015

    Oakglen Ave. secondary access

Secondary access to S. Oakglen is needed immediately. Development and improvements along S. Oakglen cannot happen without this secondary access. Also this access could help relieve some of the traffic congestion on Tefft.

  6. February 18 2015

US 101 South County Corridor Study Improvements: Southland St. (Phase 2)

    US 101 / Southland St. I/C

While we wait for an interchange, a short-term, low cost solution would be to install a NB on-ramp at Southland. This will resolve secondary access and congestion at the Tefft Street interchange!

  7. February 18 2015

    Oakglen Ave. secondary access

    Oakglen Ave. secondary access
Secondary access to South Oakglen Avenue is needed immediately. Until secondary access is provided, all properties along South Oakglen are at a stand still and any improvements or redevelopment of the most blighted area of Nipomo cannot occur.

  8. February 10 2015

Buckley Rd. widening: Vachell Ln. to Broad St.

This extension begins to address the ungainly connectivity that plagues the South Higuera, Los Osos Valley Road, and Vachell Lane confluence. As such, I am for it. More decidedly needs to be done to redirect traffic in this area. A proposal to connect Buckley Road to Los Osos Valley Road directly without the intervening jog onto Higuera also has my support. The intersection as it is currently configured is congested and hazardous as traffic seeks a way through rather than too this choke point.

  9. February 10 2015

Buckley Rd. extension: Higuera St. to Vachell Ln.

I am in favor of the Buckley Road Extension, as well as a continuation of the extension along the route known and planned in the City of SLO as the LOVR Bypass, creating a direct connection between 227/airport area and US 101 to serve commuters, developers, commuters traveling via multi-modal transportation at both the County and SLO City levels.

I lived in Los Osos for 17 years, commuting into SLO for many of those years for both school and work. I have lived in the City of SLO for an additional 17 years, 10 of which have been spent living directly in this area. This road extension (including the bypass) has been, is and will be necessary to accommodate past, current and future traffic loads to serve continuing SLO City and County commercial, economic and residential interests.

A purpose built road (4-6 lanes) connecting the new bridges directly to Buckley Road via the extension and bypass South and West of Los Verdes Park 2, serves both County and City goals, and could have implications on the state connectivity level as well. Sharing funding between entities, grants, development and TIF funding will allow this much-needed road to be built sooner rather than later, as it is already needed.

The area of LOVR between US 101 and S. Higuera is a safety and traffic issue, affecting residents, future residential development and commuters travelling to the Aiport Area from other parts of the County. It accommodates current failing traffic loads, while only adding incrementally to the vehicle miles traveled.

It promotes safer routes to schools, as this is a bus stop location for SLOCUSD.

It promotes multi-modal circulation regionally and within SLO City, as it allows extension of the Bob Jones Trail, as well as easier ingress/egress for regional transit routes serving southern SLO City.

It supports growth and service for the regional airport.

It supports Edna Valley winery, agricultural and tourism interests, providing a direct connection with US 101.

It creates an attractive gateway to SLO City and Edna Valley through a current agrarian area, with views of the Octagon Barn. Built as a parkway arterial it will serve commuters while enhancing tourism-related industries. Having spoken with many wineries in Edna Valley over the years, this could even provide an opportunity for the wineries to have directional signage on US 101 (see Temecula Wine Country as an example, along 215).

It encourages development while also removing a soon-to-be failing regional circulation element (see Chevron EIR traffic projections).

This is an area of great concern to both SLO City and County residents. The current configuration doesn't work. A direct connection from Buckley to US 101 via the extension and bypass makes so much sense. And it is better to build this correct solution to the problems of the T-intersection and short spacing between signals, than trying to piecemeal and bandage solutions in as developments happen.

The City has advanced the concept of the LOVR bypass without condition in its LUCE and General Plan updates. As this road will serve many regional commuters, it is advisable for the County to adopt this solution as well.

  10. February 10 2015

Buckley Rd. widening: Vachell Ln. to Broad St.

I am in favor of the proposed Buckley Road Realigment that would reduce traffic on Los Osos Valley Road. The proposed route would ensure safer entry and exit from property in Los Verdes Park. Thank you for asking and listening to my concerns.

  11. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. widening: Vachell Ln. to Broad St.

Please extend the Buckley Rd. extension to the south to connect with the frontage road at US101

  12. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. extension: Higuera St. to Vachell Ln.

I am in favor of the Buckley Road extension.

  13. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. extension: Higuera St. to Vachell Ln.

Much like other comments on this map I support extending Buckley to S. Higuera. This paves the way for an LOVR re-route south of Los Verdes Park 2. Having this direct connection of LOVR and Buckley will help the traffic flow.

  14. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. extension: Higuera St. to Vachell Ln.

We live in Los Verdes Park 1 off Los Osos Valley Road. We are both 86 years old and have difficulty with the traffic near and on LOVR. We request that Buckley Road be used as an extension to Higuera, including the addition of the LOVR bypass, rather than the already congested LOVR.

  15. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. widening: Vachell Ln. to Broad St.

As a San Luis Obispo resident and voter I support the Buckley Road Extension and the LOVR Bypass that would connect the Buckley Road Extension directly to US 101 via a new frontage road. The proposed development in the southern area of San Luis will make this routing absolutely necessary. The increase of vehicle traffic will conflict and endanger the increasing bicycle and pedestrian (and jogger) traffic along LOVR. I am particularly concerned about the safety of school children who board school busses on LOVR near So. Higuera.

  16. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. extension: Higuera St. to Vachell Ln.

The Buckley Road Extension to Higuera St. Should be a top priority for completion. It will allow the Park'n Ride at the Octagon Barn, The Bob Jones City to Sea Trail to be completed in a timely manner. It will help alleviate the congestion at the Intersection of Los Osos Valley Road and S. Higuera St. There is too much traffic turning left onto S. Higuera St. then turning right onto Vachell Lane. The left turn from Vachell Lane onto S. Higuera St. is also dangerous.

  17. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. extension: Higuera St. to Vachell Ln.

It isn't shown here on this page, but I think it makes a lot of sense to continue Buckley south of Los Verdes Park 2 and connect to LOVR to re-route all of the Buckley traffic (and even a lot of the Tank Farm traffic) off of S Higura and LOVR. That intersection of S Higuera and LOVR is a mess and dangerous. The current bridge traffic is good, but without another outlet (like the extending Buckley to LOVR) all of that traffic will impact the S Higuera/LOVR intersection and make that intersection a worse chokepoint than it is already.

  18. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. extension: Higuera St. to Vachell Ln.

Please make this connection of Buckley to S Higuera a high priority. As someone who lives in that immediate area traffic is only increasing and the Vachell/S-Higuera intersection is not adequate or safe. I have witnessed accidents and near accidents and the problem is only getting worse. As development increase on the southern end of SLO this connection will be needed even more. I think this connection will not only fix a current problem, but also allow for increased traffic in the future to bypass Vachell.
Again this should be a high priority. It will only make things smoother and safer.

  19. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. extension: Higuera St. to Vachell Ln.

Absolutely think the Buckley Road extension would help with traffic and safety.

  20. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. extension: Higuera St. to Vachell Ln.

I am totally in favor of the extension of Buckley Road, and in extending it to the west to connect to a frontage road along Highway 101 (LOVR Bypass). Extenting Buckley Road and connecting it to 101 is the most effective way to resolve future traffic problems due to city growth and the lack of Eas-West connections and ring-roads.

  21. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. extension: Higuera St. to Vachell Ln.

This is the perfect time to act on a safety issue.

As many of you know many vehicles bypass the Vachelle lane and Higuera intersection through the PG&E parking lot. By doing this they have created a dangerous safety issue in the PG&E parking lot. Many go way to fast!
I personally have had a few near hits. Cyclists have figured out this is a better route to use. We now have cars, motorcycles and cyclists using the PG&E lot as thoroughfare.

    I support the extension.

  22. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. extension: Higuera St. to Vachell Ln.

I am VERY in favor of the Buckley Road Extension and also the LOVR Bypass! My family resides in Los Verdes 2 and we are increasingly concerned with the congestion and increasing traffic on LOVR, particularly at the corner of LOVR and Higuera.

  23. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. widening: Vachell Ln. to Broad St.

I'm in favor of the Buckley Road extension and would like to see the road extended to the connect with a frontage road at US 101.

  24. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. extension: Higuera St. to Vachell Ln.

I am in favor of the extension of the Buckley Road Extension to the south to connect with a frontage road at US101

  25. February 09 2015

Buckley Rd. widening: Vachell Ln. to Broad St.

I fully support the Buckley road project. Traffic currently is congested and dangerous. This project will improve public safety.
