Comments for “Capitol Blvd Concept”

Capitol is so busy with cars racing up to Vista or downtown, students trying to find parking spots or biking to and from BSU. I would favor a pedestrian(biker) tunnel between BSU and Ann Morrison. Right now a pedestrian can't cross Capitol in one quick walk -- there are 2 separate lights and the students pile up dangerously waiting to cross as the cars zoom by. I eat once a week at Papa Joe's and it is extremely difficult to leave there and turn left onto Capitol as the light favors North South traffic.

I would like to see a pedestrian bridge underground or over to make it possible to cross the street in order to get to BSU. I'm from Europe and in Europe there are a lot of pedestrian bridges around schools! To ensure the safety of the pedestrians but also make it more efficient for everyone involved.

Need bike lane

Need a bike lane going south bound

Don't know what I'd do if I couldn't park here.
-
This parking is a God send!
-
I love that this area is used for student parking. Parking is expensive and many can't afford permits. I love that an area, that would not otherwise be used, is being used by Boise STATE students.
-
Walking and biking would benefit from the bridge and tunnel ideas.
-
Federal Way is an important bicycle acces road into Boise. It needs to safely connect on to downtown, the greenbelt and Cresent Rim.
-
The yield signs on the bikepath conflict with the stop signs on Hulbe, Bass st, Willoway Drive and Mesa Vista. Is a cyclist supposed to yield to a car comming out of any to these streets? I see many cyclists ride on the Federal Way road to avoid having to yield. Please provide clarity what you expect from all traffic.

Drivers merting onto Capitol Blvd often only look towards the Depot and do not see cyclists or pedestrians comming from downtown. I have had many close-calls in this spot. Also the stop sign is in the wrong location, traffic almost always blocks the bikelane / pedestrian path.
-
Sketchy area for bicycles to figure out best way to transition between Boise and Capitol with cars traveling too fast and not using indicators.
-
It would be great to have the train depot platform usable for bike traffic coming and going from Alpine St to Capitol Blvd. We could hop onto the platform from Alpine then go to the east of the depot and then drop down onto Capitol Blvd going north. Then the reverse come from Capitol Blvd to the bench.

A pedestrian bridge would be great here from the Ann Morrison side where students park over to Boise State University. It would reduce congestion as well as keep students safe.
-
Dangerous crossing for pedestrians and bikes. For Bikes no good place to wait until the light turns.
-
For starters, an easy and quick fix would be updating the crossing signals. There are four of them and I always cross when the red hand is projected. Obviously the heavy traffic and several different different directions for the traffic make crossing complicated.
-
Build a pedestrian bridge over or tunnel under Capitol Blvd, connecting the BSU campus and the Lusk St area off-campus housing and retail. Intersection improvements will improve safety, but may not be sufficient.
-
when traveling south on Boise Ave(whether I am driving or on a bicycle) I am often cut off by cars turning left at a high rate trying to get on Capitol
-
Cars turning right onto Federal Way from Northbound Vista without a clear lane to enter. Bikes not following rules, blowing lights.
-
Please keep Capitol Blvd. free of speed bumps. They are an obsolete form of traffic control. They hinder emergency vehicles and are dangerous to the patients they carry. Placing speed bumps on a major artery would be anathema to to the progress of flowing traffic.
-
A walkway wide enough for bikes and walkers could be put in here and/or by the Anniversary Inn.
-
Crossing time between Capitol and Federal Way should be expanded and a warning sign should be put up warning drivers turning right onto Federal Way from Vista to be cautious of bikers waiting to cross Capitol/ Federal Way at this intersection.
-
Probably not possible, but what if Lusk street somehow could connect to crescent rim with a pedestrian bicycle only path? There's already an eroded and pretty steep path up the hill behind the anniversary inn...
Designated, well lit staircase?
