Comments for “Capitol Blvd Concept”

This is a terrible intersection for all parties. Cars traveling north on Vista/capitol frequently run the red light. Cars traveling south in the left lane cut the corner and barely miss vehicles in the left hand lane.
It is unsafe and difficult for pedestrians to cross the street.

Large Multi-use sidewalk all the way from Crescent Rim to Rose Hill
-
Crescent Rim should connect into ann morrison park for pedestrians/bikers. It would alleviate a large amount of the north/south traffic that runs along capitol. This isn't the best spot for it, but there are multiple routes that would work.
-
Definitely need a designated two way buffered bike lane or a much wider mixed use/PROTECTED sidewalk. Traffic is too close and with everyone texting and driving it's only a matter of time before a car jumps the curb and kills another innocent pedestrain/cyclist.
-
This is another area where there is potential for a pedestrian/bicycle overpass that links both sidewalks on Vista/capitol. It would be much safer and prevent jaywalking.
-
Need a pedestrian/ bicycle overpass(with clear lanes for each) it takes 5 minutes to cross the street here and it is always a hazard. It could be an overpass or an underpass and should really cross both capitol and university.
-
This should not be BSU student parking.
-
Cars either run the stop while looking left, pull out and block the lane or wait for all three lanes to clear so they can cut across 3 lanes to turn left and park in Ann Morrison. Very dangerous for pedestrians and bikes heading South and annoying for driver waiting to turn.
-
Need a protected pedestrian crossing here soon. There is a striped crosswalk. Signage is not good and vehicles don't stop anyway. Safety hazard.
-
Maybe a multi-use path serving North/South walkers and bikers.
-
Speed bumps please. Cars are going far to fast around this corner. There is a crosswalk on this corner.
-
Traffic backups here during rush hour are crazy. A dedicated merge lane for entering traffic would be very benefical.
-
Lots of bicyclists and skate boarders use the sidewalk along Capitol here and you can't see the traffic without pulling into that crosswalk - very dangerous.
-
I agree with an earlier comment that this left turn light is not at sync with the turn light at Capitol Blvd. thus there is congestion here that extends onto Capitol Blvd. Cars cannot make a left turn from Capitol as the left lane is backed up.
-
Need much better pedestrian cross walk or foot bridge over Capitol Blvd. at the corner with University Dr. Many students jaywalk. It is also good idea to reduce the speed limit or enforce the 30 mph speed limit better by the university.
-
I have witnessed a bicycle being hit by car turning right at this ramp.
-
When there are bikers and walkers sometimes there is an issue of people not giving pedestrians the right of way. If there were a dedicated bike lane we wouldn't have that issue
-
Having no safe crossing from Broadway to River Street poses a problem for pedestrians. I'm happy to walk beneath the bridge when it's light, but not in winter (often slippery) or after dark.
-
No safe walking route here, yet Crescent Rim offers a beautiful view for pedestrians.
-
This is the worst intersection in Boise. Long wait times and dangerous conditions for bikers and walkers. The lack of bike infrastructure forces bikers to cross the intersection with the Boise State foot traffic, which is not only very inconvenient for commuting cyclists who have to significantly reduce their speed, but it is also very dangerous merging between the street, the crosswalk and back to the street.
-
This connection with Boise Ave makes it difficult for those traveling on Capitol as well as University and Ann Morrison Park Drive to see clearly. It also makes crossing the street more difficult for pedestrians and bikers.
-
Adding a pedestrian bride that connects the east side with the west would dramatically reduce traffic congestion while increasing pedestrian safety.
-
This spot is crazy when bicycles are coming down Vista to Capitol and cars are turning right onto Federal Way. I try to watch and wait for bicycles, have seen a few near misses here.
-
Footbridge- Install a footbridge from Crescent Rim or the Depot and connect it to S. Capitol (North-bound sidewalk). This would allow cyclists and pedestrians to safely commute from the neighborhoods west of the depot to Boise State without having to cross the dangerous Yale/Capitol intersection and the even more dangerous and congested University/Capitol intersection.

Add a flashing light cross walk here.
