Illinois State University's Solution to a similar problem. They built a walkway under the Main St. and College Ave. intersection.

Use this link to zoom into the satellite view of College and Main to get a better idea of what it looks like.

There needs to be a safe way to travel on a bicycle from Capitol Blvd. to Vista Blvd and the neighborhoods in that area. The interchange with Crescent Rim is very dangerous and vehicles are traveling at a very high rate of speed. Vehicles heading up the hill at the base of the Depot are usually accelerating around the corner and tend to drift towards the outside of the lane making it very dangerous for cyclists.

No bike lane here...have to use the wideawlk

  4. February 19 2015

Traffic should be two-way on both Capitol and 9th. The couplet design serves only to create unsafe conditions for multimodal use. Two-way traffic would allow for better connectivity between downtown and Boise State. Capitol Boulevard's historic use as a two-way thoroughfare should be revived.

  5. February 19 2015

Access from Federal Way to Crescent Rim for those heading east or west is lacking, awkward, or dangerous. I don't have any great ideas about how, but I do know I think it would be wonderful to be able to have an east/west access for walkers and bikers.

  6. February 19 2015

Those homes on the east side of Federal Way do not have access to public transportation as the nearest bus stop I have found is at the corner of Protest and Federal Way.

  7. February 19 2015

I also believe that 8th Street would be an ideal street for most of the bicycle traffic. It takes very little effort for a bicyclist to traverse an additional block and using 8th Street for the major bicycle traffic would leave more room for walkers on Capitol Blvd.

  8. February 19 2015

Boise Avenue lacks safe places for walking or biking. As this is a major access to downtown Boise, BSU and Capitol Blvd, it would make sense to have wider sidewalks in this area.

  9. February 19 2015

A direct way to get from Federal Way to The Boise Depot if on foot or on a bicycle.

  10. February 19 2015

This section of the Federal Way sidewalk does narrow considerably for a small portion of the sidewalk.

  11. February 19 2015

Biking and walking along Crescent Rim provides no area for walkers or bikers. As a grandparent, I would love to be able to take walks with my grandkids, but there is a lack of a safe place in which to walk or bike and be out of a traffic pattern.

  12. February 19 2015

Need to have connectivity between greenbelt and road for cyclists. No curb cuts in this area to connect.

  13. February 19 2015

Need to solve pedestrians crossing without crosswalk. Overpass ?

  14. February 19 2015

Consider roundabout here. Increasing traffic flow would allow for fewer car lanes and then added pedestrian and bike infrastructure.

  15. February 19 2015

This lane is horrible to use as a cyclyst. Cars hate you and you are very exposed getting into this lane going up hill. I'm already pedaling slowly from the hill and it's dangerous to cross three lanes of traffic to get into this lane

  16. February 19 2015

I have read the 40 previous comments and agree with all of them. As a walker and occasional biker, I would love to see some convenient way to cross from the east side of Federal Way to The Boise Depot via foot or bicycle. Currently, we often use the steps to the train tracks/bridge over Vista Avenue. It works for foot traffic but is more difficult if trying to use a bicycle. There is no street level ability to cross from Federal Way directly to The Boise Depot without walking an additional 2 blocks.

  17. February 19 2015

I wish there was a better way to navigate this intersection as a cyclist headed North. It's a very awkward shuffle from the street (headed North on Boise) to the sidewalk to push the crossing signal, back to the street to wait for the light, then on to the sidewalk with the pedestrians to cross the river.

  18. February 19 2015

Pedestrians from Boise State need a safer and more efficient way across this main intersection!

  19. February 19 2015

Continue the side walk below the depot all the way to Rose Hill.

  20. February 19 2015

More bike lanes so it is not as scary to try to get into downtown.

  21. February 19 2015

I find Capitol Blvd too dangerous for riding a bike so I use the bus to transport my bike to/from Overland/downtown

  22. February 19 2015

Slow vehicle traffic down here and into town. Lower speed limit? Greater enforcement?

  23. February 19 2015

Place a pedestrian/bike overpass bridge here. Have a ramp that bicyclists can roll their bikes along as they use the stairs up and over. Not having pedestrians cross at street level will increase the margin of safety for everyone.

  24. February 19 2015

At peak morning times, left turn onto Earle is often out of sync with left turn from 9th southbound onto University so traffic backs up through Captitol/University intersection. Sometimes caused by red light for eastbound University and sometimes flashing yellow left turn signal with westbound traffic on University so turn from University to Earle isn't possible.

  25. February 19 2015

Pedestrians sometimes jaywalk in this area. Sometimes while texting and not watching out for vehicles. Dangerous!
