Lots of improvements needed here. See the AARP/WALK Sacramento plan. Coordination with City and County required. Free flow ramps create a harrowing experience for active mode users.

Bike/ped improvements needed here with some of the free ramps

Similar comments to Zinfandel Interchange. Improvements needed here. The 50 undercrossing is kinda out of the way, so improvements would be welcome here. Especially considering the light rail station is right there. Would also be nice to find a connection to the neighborhood on the NE side.

The bicycle path on top of the levee that connects the bicycle path on the bridge to CR32A is Caltrans', but the Class 1 graphic is not shown. The pavement is in very poor condition and needs Caltrans' attention.

This needs to be a priority location for ped/bike crossing improvement. There are a ton of peds crossing from the light rail station to get to the businesses, etc on the south side and vice versa. As this area builds out, this will become more prevalent. The proposed pedestrian promenade by Rancho will help, but it will still be difficult to access that bridge because of poor connectivity on both sides of the freeway. The Zinfandel interchange needs those improvements no matter what. The big concern is the double lane free right from NB Zinfandel to WB 50. It's always difficult for peds to cross there and get a safe gap.

Bike ped connections needed here. Probably a major rebuild and reconfigure of the interchange needed for all modes. Neighborhoods south of the river are a bit cut off from the great river access and the University. Hornet is an alternative, but needs improvements as well.

SR 49 from El Dorado to Diamond Springs needs sidewalks and bike lanes. Wide shoulders are provided and sidewalks are present in some areas, but many gaps remain. This area has a diverse land use mix including housing, a business park, a few schools, a retail corridor and two historic districts.

There is a very expensive twisty narrow bicycle/pedestrian path across SR 50. There are very poor connections between the road and the path for cyclists. At Folsom Blvd., the south end, the crossing to light rail is very dangerous, from unexpected automotive movements.

There should be physical protection for the path from motor vehicles leaving the roadway. Install boulders, or a guard rail.

The new bridge across the South Fork of the American River has pedestrian and bicycle accommodation, due to a hard advocacy fight with Caltrans.

Replace the Brockless Bridge to allow safer active transportation to the Crystal Basin recreation area, and across the Sierra. The project must be with multiple entities due to various jurisdictions. This is the only missing piece of the National Historic Pony Express Trail, Missouri to Sacramento.

The Golden Chain SR 49 is a road that is not the easiest way to travel from Diamond Springs to Placerville. Caltrans vehicles do not use this route. Make this road suitable for bicycling, with narrower lanes, and wide shoulders on the uphill lanes to facilitate bicycles slow speeds uphill (climbing lanes).

The Silva Valley Interchange, completed in 2016, built a 20% grade on a bicycle and pedestrian road. This was contrary to the Supplemental EIR that stated only a gate would be installed. It violates ADA requirements. Active Transportation facilities should not be worse after building major infrastructure. Do no harm!

The Nevada County Bicycle Master Plan proposes a Class III bike route with multi-use shoulder on SR 174 to the Nevada County/Placer County line at the Bear River Bridge. This gap from Mt. Olive Road south to the Bear River Bridge should be shown as a segment related improvement.

This gap should be shown as a planned segment. The Nevada County Bicycle Master Plan proposes SR 49 south of the Golden Center Freeway as a Class III route with a multi-use shoulder.

Pedestrian facilities do not exist at this on/off ramp location. There is sidewalk on approach and departure to this location but no access across the Caltrans ramp is provided. Improvements including sidewalk, ADA ramps and pedestrian signalization should be installed.

On-ramp is not pedestrian or bicycle friendly. Improvements should be considered to provide pedestrian refuge and improved visibility of cyclists and pedestrians crossing the on-ramp.

The lack of connection between I5 and SR113 requires drivers to use E. Main Street as the freeway connector. This detracts from any efforts by the City to make this corridor into a complete street. The connector should be constructed to remove this excess traffic from the corridor.
