The path crossing the river next to the highway could be greatly improved with a sound barrier. The highway noise is so loud I don't want to take my kids walking here. Putting up some clear sound shields between the highway and the shared-use path would be ideal.

I would like to see a separated bike path on 273, traffic goes fast on this road and it is too scary to bike on right now. Also, more shade trees would greatly improve the pedestrian experience of this road. I walk on it often to get out of the house and more trees would help when it is hot and make it nicer.

    1) downtown court street division street bike path connector to river trail to avoid riding on vehicular roads.

    2) bike path or trail connector from downtown to clear creek greenway paralleling 273 South and a possible extension to the river ranchero casino area.

    3) bike trail connector from far west end of clear creek greenway to princess ditch and swasey area.

    4) bike trail paralleling iron mountain road and Keswick dam road to connect BLM trail 58 and French fry trail to each other and to river trail to avoid riding on vehicular roads without a shoulder.

    5) bike trail connector from West side Mary lake trails to swasey rec area as straight arrow cut over is off limits and blocked now.

There is no sidewalk on the west side of 273 for a stretch north of Nor-Cal Tire. But people walk on the side of the road there all the time. They are often within a foot or two of traffic and as a driver that is scary, I can't imagine walking there. When I do walk south of 273 I always have to cross the street to get past this stretch. This is a safety concern and needs fixing.

I used to live in the Garden Tract and I used to walk along the ACID canal almost daily. It is a lovely walk and many people use it, it could be improved to make it safer, like with a crosswalk where it crosses roads. The northern stretch needs more trees because in the summer sun it is too hot to walk that part, but walking where there are shade trees is lovely, even in 100 degree heat.

This intersection is terrible for pedestrians. The west side of 273 has no sidewalk, and it becomes a giant puddle in winter. There is also no crosswalk lines on the west side of 273, and when walking south on the west side of 273 (crossing California), you have to look behind you to make sure no cars are going to hit you as you are crossing the street. I live near this intersection and walk that way to go to Safeway and the farmer's market and it does not feel safe. Also just south of this intersection on the west side of 273, there a horrible sidewalk situation where there is a canal that goes under the road. That should be fixed as well

    Yes, the sooner the better.

  8. October 21 2017

The stop limit for motor vehicles south bound on Hilltop needs to be move back / north of the crosswalk. Often traffic south bound on Hilltop making a right on red to west bound Hwy 44 drive into the crosswalk before stopping if they stop at all. Might also be a good place for no right on red.

The pavement on this section need repair to the point that it is dangerous.

  10. October 21 2017

This section just had a thin overlay, but nothing was done about the shoulders / class 2 lanes. This only encourages cyclists to ride out in the smooth lanes which causes major animosity from some drivers.

  11. October 21 2017

Old 44 Drive Between Swede Creek Road and Oak Run Road needs shoulders or class 2. I have witnessed many conflicts between bicycles and motorist along with road rage at time along this section of road way. It suffers sight distance, traffic volume and speed problems. It is an accident waiting to happen. Swede Creek Road that shows a proposed bike lane suffers none of the above. I have never had a conflict on Swede Creek Road. I would prioritize Old 44 well ahead of Swede Creek Road.

Placer has a very narrow bike lane, if 12 inches width were added on each side it would be much safer to drive and would get more riders. It is a 50 mph speed limit and it needs that added width for safety.

  13. October 20 2017

I believe this is one of the most unsafe areas to cross in Anderson, South and 273. I have concerns about the area you have to stand while activating the light to cross. I feel pinned between cars turning off of 273, cars coming up from behind from W. Center and South St.

  14. October 20 2017

There are no north-south cross walks near the intersections where Westwood Avenue and Westside Road connect.
In the early mornings I often seen families with children trying to cross the roads at these locations. The nearest cross walks are at Westwood and 273 or Glenn Way. Additionally there are no improved sidewalks west beyond El Camino Drive. It seems safe paths for pedestrians should be considered due the proximity of Sycamore School.

  15. October 20 2017

This would be a nice location for a cross walk across continental that lights up. I see many pedestrians J walking across. This area is near by the school, several work-sites, and health clinics which leads to heavier pedestrian volume.

  16. October 20 2017

I love the idea of adding a buffered bike lane here! I regularly run and bike along Victor and it would be nice to have a level part of road for pedestrians/cyclist.

  17. October 20 2017

Dangerous intersection. Cars come flying down Placer and through the light. To increase safety, it would be nice to have a raised crosswalk, as they are highly traveled.

  18. October 20 2017

    Cross walk needed.

  19. October 20 2017

BRAVO!!! on the bike shoulder on the bend, so much more comfortable.

  20. October 20 2017

    How about a restroom?

  21. October 20 2017

Agree with the adjacent comment, but current traffic patterns treat the shoulder as a 55 mph passing lane. Put in a center turn lane through the entire two lane section with an ample but narrower shoulder.

  22. October 20 2017

High traffic volume with high speeds, very narrow shoulder.

  23. October 20 2017

Shoulder is deteriorating, shoulder isn't pleasant to ride on thin tires.

  24. October 20 2017

Cars parked in the bike lane force bicyclists into the posted 45 mph speed limit lane. Speeds often exceed this. Any way to red curb the lane?

  25. October 20 2017

The homeless community along this route is intimidating and perhaps dangerous. No pleasure at all trying to ride the current trail.
