We need a light here. On the north and south end of town to slow down the traffic coming into town, especially trucks. It's difficult as a pedestrian to safely cross the highway, also as a motorist leaving a parking lot to get out onto the hwy when other vehicles are doing 55-60 mph though town. These would be a tremendous help!!!!

One Traffic light on Hwy. 97 should meet the needs of all. Reed Rd & Hwy 97 is extremely dangerous and busy. This is the main route to the School and the Post Office and the risks for major accidents is great.

A light here is also a must for the future of La Pine. This is by far the most dangerous intersection in La Pine.

  5. December 28 2010

A stop light is a must at this intersection. Seeing glass in the intersection is getting old. Also a must for the future of La Pine's growth!!

The city of La Pine and the state need to work together to get at least two stop lights on highway 97. One at 6th street and one at 1st street. Thanks for the oppertunity to make a comment on this.

  7. December 26 2010

could use a stoplight here allso.

  8. December 26 2010

    need stop lights

There are no ways for pedestrians to cross over from one side of the City in this entire south area or in the north sector for that matter. There are a large number of Junior and High School students as well as others that cross in these areas in an unsafe manner.

Both this and 6th St. access points could be taken out. 6th St. could be straightend out tying in to old Hill St., Turn Huntington into a culdusac, put a light on 97 @ Finley tying into Morson and over Hill to back on Huntington.

A four-way traffic light would be ideal. At the very least the school zone should be extended north to first street. This intersection is at it's most dangerous during high school lunch hours and after school.

  12. November 26 2010

could use a light here as well

  13. November 26 2010

    definetly need a light here

Two years ago Deschutes Cty. had a study complete with drawings(Hwy 97 beautification project-LaPine) done. I agree now as I did then on the results; a traffic light needs to be installed in two locations, 97&Reed as well as Finley&97. Steve Jorgenson/ Deschutes Cty. at the time and myself had extensive communication on both and detailed study on Finley&97 as my property I had agreed to modify to accomodate it. Also, some of the improvements/landscaping along this area would have positive lasting effects.

La Pine needs one stop light on Hwy 97 in the business core area. 1st st and Hwy 97 would probably be the best site. I think that it would be easier to get the state to go with just one light, rather than several lights. This intersection probably has the most traffic of any intersection in the business core area.

Pedestrian improvements in this area as Finley Butte Rd/ FS 22 is a nice bike route. Also, this would create better pedestrian access to Finley Butte Park.

This intersection would benefit from a signal, but at least turn lanes 97sb-Reed eb and a pedestrian island to help crossing with a stop in the median.
