Every intersection needs to have pedestrian crossings at each length, with buttons, countdowns, and crosswalks. And the countdown needs to be lengthy enough to accommodate the elderly, people in wheelchairs, etc.

    LOOK, a BUS!!! PRIORITIZE BUSES!
    1) Build better bus stops;
    2) Build better bus stops; and
    3) BUILD BETTER BUS STOPS!!!!
Can we do bus rapid transit?

I think it's appropriate to make mixed-use redevelopment a focus here, and let's connect all these damn parking lots.

I know there are plans for a Swannanoa Greenway along the south side of the river. Please also prioritize Complete Streets elements along Swannanoa River Road - sidewalks on both side and bike lanes if possible. I'd love for NCDOT to make Swannanoa River Road a safe multimodal transportation corridor with the City implementing a recreational trail on the other side of the River. I know there are a ton of constraints, so I'd settle for a kick-ass sidepath along Swannanoa River Road (on the river side).

Seems like these parking lots should all connect. People shouldn't have to drive from Ross to Goodwill - they're so close! Indeed, people shouldn't have to drive from Goodwill to Mattress Firm RIGHT NEXT DOOR.

What the hell is this road? Weird road.

Would love to see a road diet (and PLEASE don't widen the damn road - that doesn't solve anything!) with midblock crossings and refuge islands. The gaps between ped crossings are long and people are probably running across dangerously a midblock spots.

Don't allow this type of parking (up front adjacent the road). It's not great for foot traffic.

I recommend some serious consideration about the feasibility of roundabouts here and elsewhere along the corridor (single lane, with designated turn lanes). This could allow for better access management.

If someone is going to build a sea of parking like this in the future, we NEED to make sure there are X number of trees per parking space, plus stormwater retention, filtration, and infiltration devices (ponds, pervious pavement - see New Belgium's parking lot).

OMG this whole building needs to be demolished TODAY! This is an outdated eyesore with zero redeeming qualities. Mixed use and a revamped architectural style, please!

If we're going to keep building giant apartments along this corridor, residents need to have direct pedestrian access to Tunnel Road, with safe crossings and sidewalks everywhere.

This is an insane amount of parking! Let's promote higher density and mixed-use redevelopment here (apartments above would be great, creating an upstairs clientele for retail while making better use of existing parking).

Can we create a walkway from the I-240 intersection pedestrian crossing to the shopping center? It's SO CLOSE but people have to walk all the way around. A set of stairs here would be great for connectivity.

Can we route a trail along Haw Creek from the I-240 intersection pedestrian crossing past Whole Foods and up to Tunnel Road?

How about a greenway trail looping behind Lowe's from Tunnel Road to Swannanoa River Road? This would be a safer and more peaceful alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists.

MANDATE that bus stops have shelters! A sign in the ground is not enough. A bench is not enough. Asheville needs to prioritize shelters at all Tunnel Road bus stops (big enough to keep you dry from the rain and big enough for 6 people to comfortably fit).

PLEASE create a buffer between the sidewalk and vehicular travel lane! It's inhumane to walk right next to speeding traffic.

At the very least, please make this intersection have pedestrian crossings. People should be able to go from the bus stop to Walgreens without dying.

A direct and convenient pedestrian trail/stair up and over Beaucatcher Mtn would be a great way to connect to downtown. Walking through the tunnel will never be pleasant or safe and walking on the roads of Kenilworth are narrow and dangerous as well.

Is this area part of the greenway master plan? It would be nice to be able to safely walk or bike from here to RAD, the river park and West Asheville

would be great to have a pedestrian oriented "downtown" street feel with dense multi-use buildings (retail at street level and apartments and offices above). A district you could park and walk to various stores without having to get in you car every time to get to the next destination

The project website says congestion is increasing, yet traffic counts from NCDOT show 20 years of traffic counts on a downward trend. How is that being accounted for or is the MPO/NCDOT just projecting continued growth over 20 years despite the past 20 years giving no support for that?

East of the tunnel the counts in 1998 were 21,000 vehicles per day and 15,000 in 2000. They peaked in 2004 at 18,000 but were down to 12,000 in both 2014 and 2016.
