Crossing Birch Hill Road From Crest Drive to Concord Ave. is very dangerous
A. Road is too narrow with no shoulder and poor plowing in winter (joggers and bikers are often forced off the roadway now).
B. Blind corner 1/10 mile before Concord Rd.-VERY slick in winter and traffic exceeds speed limit in summer.
C. School bus stops at Concord and Birch Hill causing a back up of traffic not seen from approach from south lane (east bound)
D. Any proposed bike/ hike paths should be on the WEST side of the Steese highway.
E. Motorized access will trespass on to privately held property. Law enforcement is not responsive to calls for this. Alternitives suggested (D. above) don't cross as much private property. -
Carlson Center plows the snow and blocks the sidewalk on the south side of the parking lot.

Bikes on the Richardson Highway should not be probhibited. This policy needs to change. This applies both Fairbanks-bound and Delta Bound.
-
The separated path along the south side of the Johansen expressway along the frontage road is in very poor condition. There is transverse cracking along the whole route so much so that it is uncomfortable to ride.
-
Please widen this area or put in a separate bike path! It's dangerous, but very well used.
-
The bike trail ends at Pearl Creek Elem. It would be great if it extended to De Pauw Dr. This might not be possible on the east side of the road, but perhaps it could be possible on the west side of the road on school land behind Pearl Creek Elem.

Many children pedestrians & bicyclists going to U. park school here. Sidewalk too narrow; needs railing where it crosses the slough for safety. May lack curb cuts at street and school driveway crossings.
-
Path along the Parks Hwy between Geist Rd and the Chena River is in need of repair. Tree roots and large pavement cracks are deteriorating the path.
-
Essetially no bicylist/pedestrian connector btw Pks Hwy Bike Path and Sheep Creek bikepath; only 1st part of Sheep Creek Rd shoulder. Very inadequate. Many riders from Ester are headed to UAF; some riders from town/Chena Pump are headed to Goldhill Rd or Sheep Crk out to Goldstream. Regular hazards for pedestrians and bicyclists.
-
This new path already has a fairly large problem with subsidence in this area just east of Goldhill Road.
-
This is one of the most unsafe roads to walk or bike on. People speed down this road all the time. There is no room to really walk on. Needs a multiuse road or sidewalk. Many families have moved here since this road was built in the 70s. Support the sidewalk project.
-
If you want cyclists to stay on the bike paths year-round- PLOW THEM! Winter bike commuting is possible and often dangerous in the winter when the bike paths are unusable.
-
Traveling north on Illinois street approaching Minnie Street. In order to continue north on Illinois you have to cross the right turn lane and moce into the center, straight lane, placing the bike and rider between laines of traffic without a designated bike lane. A designated bike lane for north traveling bike would give some protection and guidance to the cyclist.
-
you need to put a bike path on the walmart side of johnson express way there s no bike path in wal mart'
-
The intersections under the Johannsen on College are dangerous to bicyclists on the sidewalk because the sidewalk curves and the rider can't see traffic enetering the expressway.

-
There are no curb cutout on Minnie Street, the sidewalk is narrow and telephone poles and fire hydrants are located in the middle of the sidewalk.

Improvements promoting bicycle and pedestrian safety must recognize the patterns of the user group. This area has a high use thru' out the entire year. Building a bike path, widening shoulders, etc. does NO good if there is no (or delayed) winter maintenance when bicyclists and pedestrians are still traveling and end up defaulting to the motorized road surface bec. of lack of maintenance! Project planning should include seasonal traffic (ped & byc) data and approp. maint plans)!

The shoulders along Yankovitch Rd and Ballaine Rd are much to small. I do not live here, but there are hundreds of families and children in the area. Please create a wider path along Yankovitch and a better multi use trail along Ballaine. It might even make it more inviting for people to attempt Ballaine Hill!

The River Walk going in on the north side of the Chena River can be a gorgeous addition to our down town tourism center. Please make sure that it has the necessary green belt to the north and has the funding necessary to attract our visitors.

There is a proposed connection from the Goldstream Public Use Area, to Skyline and down to Farmer's Loop. This is a well used, but unofficial, trail in the winter. Establishing that connector as a year round, sustainable trail would bring two neighborhoods (Goldstream and Farmer's Loop) together and open our northern, rural area like never before.
-
This 2000 acre public use area's trails are mostly only passable during the winter. Creating a sustainable trail or two that would be open all year to all users would bring new opportunities for outdoor recreation to the entire community.
