I am not sure if Brown Drive belongs to the City. But I live on the North side of town. The only way to bike into Madras from my home and not have to deal with the very busy Hwy 97 is to bike on Brown Drive. This road has never been paved and has lots of ruts and pot holes. It is a difficult bike. This is becoming more of an issue for my family now that my 11 year old wants to bike to school.

Show a mapping of existing bike paths for a safe planning to navigate around town on a bike.

The route for the MAC Dash triathlon bike runs from the MAC, through Grizzly and to Adams Dr. No bike lanes or shoulder make riding/training scary.

This intersection (as well as the others in the downtown, need to be emphasized for pedestrian priority if Madras is ever to have a healthy downtown. I'd like to see curb extensions, wider sidewalks, bigger street tress.

I am glad we have a pedestrian crossing here, from the trail, however, the crossing time is brief, and you have to scurry to get to the median with the walking man, then the hand begins flashing at the median and evidently the oncoming traffic is supposed to yeild for the pedestrian, but they are coming in from 97, and very few vihicles go straight, so they race to beat the light, not considering the left turn yeild rule, while the pedestrian is racing also...bad combination.

Yes, a bike route on Loucks Rd would benefit the new apartment complex and would provide a safe route for out of town riders to get to JCMS, Juniper Hills, or MHS with less cross traffic.

Separate or larger bike lanes on Hwy 97 between Meadowlark Lane and Loucks Road for safety reasons.

  8. August 20 2011

Between Meadowlark Lane and Loucks road you are crossing Hwy 97 and it is VERY dangerous. Numberous times trucks have come close to bicycles trying to get between the two roads safely. There are also several people (including wheel chair users) trying to get from Meadowlark Lane to Safeway. PLEASE take this dangrous spot into consideration.

The Oak Street bike lane is good. It connects to Hwy 97, but then the bike lane disappears (nonexistent) past the McDonald's turn-off. It would be nice to have designated bike lane at least to Louck's as a connector. This would make is safer and easier to ride to Safeway, too.

A delinated bike route on Louck's Rd would be nice. Drivers are always polite, but even the fog line is vague. A bike route could connect to Juniper Hills Park.

C Street is used by many walkers and there is no sidewalk between A Street NE and SE B. There should be a warning sign to drivers going west on A street from the school towards the hospital to slow down.
