Comments for “Baltimore City Bicycle Pavement Issues”
-
Some patches of rough/uneven pavement and a section that's turned concave has made this intersection a bit hazardous.
-
In the middle of the westbound lane, there are a series of seams/scrapes in the pavement that are just the right width and depth to get a tire caught in.
-
A couple of large potholes here, including a manhole cover that's had the pavement removed in a large circle around it.
-
Bad grates by parking lot across from Fox 45 (maybe 2011 W 41st St?)
-
Grates on at corner of Druid Park Drive and 41st St at 2054 Druid Park Drive- type that will cause accidents (on both sides of corner)
-
Service work caused an asphalt filling at the intersection but it is not properly filled in causing a slight 4inch gap that can be hazardous to bikers. The job done was very sloppy and makes for a bumpy ride when going east or west on 27th st.

Lots of potholes
-
Nasty pothole
-
Lots of potholes, cracks, and bumps all the way from E. Univ Pkwy to 31st Street
-
The bike lane is uneven making it very easy to fall if your wheel tries to climb up to the other side. This is all along Roland especially between Cold Spring Ln and Northern Pkwy
-
The whole road is torn up along here with various uneven patches and dips.
-
When do we get the bike lanes back? It's been months.
-
Cobblestone and abandoned trolley tracks make this road dangerous to ride in wet weather.
-
There is frequently a huge puddle here which can freeze in the winter, resulting in a slick which sometimes covers an entire lane.
-
There is a water main that frequently bursts here in the winter, causing a large, unavoidable ice-sheet going down the hill on the west-bound side of the street.

I don't like Baltimore as a bikeway street, at least between president and Washington because of the buses. I try to avoid bus routes whenever possible.
-
Very large rough patch in the right lane going eastbound on 33rd just east of Greenmount. Difficult to avoid, especially in traffic.

Sharrow is too narrow to safely share with cars parked here outside of rush hour. Because drivers routinely speed on Boston St, riders are forced to ride in the door zone or block 45+MPH traffic.
The sidewalk is designated as a bike path, but currently seems unsuitable for this designation. Per Google Maps, there is no continuity between the designated bike path beside Boston St and the nearest bike routes in Fell's Point -- is this information still up to date? There are a number of driveway crossings that present a strong danger of right hooks due to poor line of sight from road to sidewalk. Sidewalk itself is composed of either brick or slabs of concrete which are both somewhat uncomfortable to ride on with a road bike. Between Aliceanna and O'Donnel St, sidewalk is sometimes narrow and not straight, and requires cyclist to come to an almost full stop before continuing. In short, this seems like a sidewalk and not a bike path. Consider widening the path, paving it, and improving signage and signalization at crossings and driveways. Or consider removing bike path designation.

Wide and deep cracks in pavement north of North and 25th are difficult to avoid on bike, and are jarring even for larger tires.
-
Very rough pavement approaching university.
-
Very rough pavement.

Greenway is great going south, but we also need a low traffic way to go north. Is the street wide enough to accomodate this?
-
It is hard to navigate the connection between Greenway and southbound Charles Street. It's not clear what you are supposed to do as a biker.
-
We need curbcuts to let us turn left onto Southbound Charles St.
