This is a far-off dream given the state budget situation, but it would be so much safer to have a wide shoulder or bike path along Chena Ridge Road. It is dangerous for bikes and pedestrians and the narrow, curvy road makes it alarming for drivers to suddenly come upon a bike or pedestrian.
Sidewalks or a bike trail along Airport way from the Airport into town would make that road safer and more welcoming to visitors. It is not a long walk from the hotels along airport to the airport, there are lots of independent visitors who would walk if the road weren't so uninviting.
Chena Ridge Road needs a bike lane, preferably both directions. The traffic is too fast, the road too winding, and the shoulders too narrow for safe biking.
Inadequate pedestrian AND bicycle access on Old Steese from College to Johansen.
This downhill is really dangerous for cyclists using the bike path. There is lots of cracks, and a tight turn at the entrance of Fideler Road. The gravel on the bike path here is always bad. The gravel is so bad on the path because there is a gravel 4-wheeler trail next to the path and atvs kick gravel on the path. Is there a way to separate the atv trail further from the path?
Side walks in this stretch are narrow, and cracked (especially around the curbs and enter/exit areas). Shoulders are narrow and frequently gravelly. Pedestrians are using the south stretch of this road regularly and should have a sidewalk for safety.
This bike path is so cracked and broken by roots under the asphalt that it is practically unusable for bikes (especially on a road bike). This path is important as a connection from airport to Chena Pump Road and is frequently used by pedestrians and cyclists.
Repave road, widen shoulders, make access possible and safe for cyclists and pedestrians
Pave bike path and repave road so bikers can connect from Farmers loop to the Johanssen bike path. This is a horrible section to bike, and often not ridable.
Improve bike access here, it is difficult to not get hit, and hard to ride across gravelly roads, broken up sidewalks, and across traffic
Fix cracks, and repave bike path more frequently, This becomes unridable on a bike and is often the best (and some could argue the only) way to go from one side of town to the other safetly.

Create sidewalks or wider shoulders for pedestrians and bikers to access businesses from the West side of town into this area, and to downtown (or vice versa).
Widen shoulders for cyclists and/or create a bike lane
Narrow and dangerous for bikers/runners/walkers/drivers
Widen road and/or add bike lane on shoulders. Narrow and dangerous for drivers and cyclists.
Continue bike path along yankovich for many pedestrians that use this area. Unsafe with such a narrow shoulder
Add bike lane or bikes on road sign for road bikes. Shoulder is wide for bikes in places, but not swept and has many dangerous cracks. A bike lane on this side would help heavy traffic on bike path on the opposite side, and reduce crossings at lights.
Fix sidewalks for pedestrians
Improve bike access; widen shoulder and add bike lane. Dangerous with side streets and heavy traffic.
Dangerous intersection for bikers trying to ride with traffic. add bike lane or widen shoulder.
Widen and pave sidewalks for pedestrians and/or bikes. Unsafe access under this bridge.
Dangerous intersection for bikers. Narrow shoulder and traffic gets funneled under, while cars are speeding up and merging onto the Parks Hwy. Widen shoulders and add bike lane.
Pave underpass for bikers. It's currently not ridable and shoulders are too narrow for bikes. Cars do not yield to/see bikers on the road in the underpass
Widen shoulder for bike traffic, narrow and dangerous
