Comments for “Drive to Zero Safety Action Plan”

Pimlico and OR-43 should have a traffic light. EB traffic on Pimlico turning NB onto OR-43 often create hazardous conditions trying to cross all lanes of traffic. This intersection also needs a painted crosswalk with crosswalk lights for use on both sides. Trimet bus 35 has bus stops(Stop IDs 6345 and 6344) in both directions of OR-43 and Pimlico. Crossing as a pedestrian is very unsafe.

This intersection should be a three-way stop. Summit Road's SB lane becomes a blind intersection at Horton (difficult to see around the bend). Many drivers going NB on Summit go exceedingly fast when turning WB onto Horton. There are no painted crosswalks and there should be.

Along McLoughlin from W Arlington St in Gladstone to SE Park Ave in Oak Grove, I recommend at the very least allowing buses to be exempt from having to turn right in the right turn lane since many bus stops are just on the other side of the intersection. What I would really like to see implemented is bus only lanes like on SE 82nd Ave by the Winco. Both recommendations apply to both sides of the road.

At this intersection and others, decrease the wait time for pedestrians waiting for the signal to change. Also give pedestrians a 5 second head start before the signals for vehicles change.
-
Add pedestrian and bicycle facilities along Leland Road and fill in gaps along South Meyers Road.
-
Provide a mixed use bicycle and pedestrian bridge between Oak Grove and Lake Oswego, preferable between their two central business areas as that would most likely generate the most traffic.
-
Add bike and pedestrian facilities along Holcomb Blvd, there's no safe path coming or going to this road for people walking or riding bicycles. Provide better transportation to the Clackamas County Housing Authority. Once an hour bus service is not adequate enough.
-
Find a way to provide transit access to the Veterans Village. It's approximately a 15min walk to the 30 bus line, or approximately a 30min walk to the 79 bus line. Neither of these bus lines are in close range and they don't offer frequent service.

Sidewalks are desperately needed along the northern portion of Linn Ave, most of the Tri-Met bus stops along this portion don't even have a shoulder to walk in. With traffic regularly exceeding the already too fast 35mph since this portion is going up hill, it makes it very dangerous for people to cross the street and reach the bus stop safely. I believe this also prevents people from wanting to take the bus.
-
There is no safe access to this park on Linn Ave due to no sidewalks and no shoulder. Also there's no real access from neighborhood streets as well since the surrounding area are private residences with no pathway to the park.

Hwy 211 between Estacada and Molalla moves to fast. Log trucks go 65mph. Speed is a problem throughout the county but this hwy is especially troublesome. People pass in the most awful places. Because 205 is so slow big trucks run through here at hwy speeds from Woodburn to Sandy, was that the plan?
-
Beavercreek needs more sidewalks! With all the new construction and increased traffic it's impossible to walk from the store to the restaurant safely. Also home owners can't safely turn onto the road, you have to wait forever just to get onto Beavercreek road during rush hour.
-
There is confusion about the yield requirement at Meadowbrook.
-
Where Main St. Meets 213 needs a center lane for those turning left onto 213. This is a problem throughout the cnty hwy system.
-
The left turn from traffic from Boring to Hwy 211 is very dangerous, bad here and at Eagle creek. We need at least a center lane to turn into and more room all around, wide shoulders and room for those going right, so they don't have to wait behind the left Turner's. This is problem throughout the county

New high school traffic volume will make this interesten a choke point. Maybe a roundabout intersection that is like the intersection just north of here. Would solve the problem and be a cheap long term solution.
-
Traffic backup northbound is getting worse and worse every year backing up traffic onto Clackamas River Rd and Springwater Rd. Weekends are worse with the rafting traffic. The traffic control personal this summer was a relief on the weekends but a traffic light needs to be permanently installed.
-
The light cycles to quickly and causes massive backups during school drop off and pick up times turning north onto 172nd from eastbound 212. I was told by a traffic engineer the light cycle time was modified to be quicker after several accidents a year ago. The fast cycle time makes many cars turn right into Andregg Parkway, u-turn, and head north on 172nd. Last school year every morning more and more cars would run yellow and red lights.
My commute time house to school is normally 5 minutes. 8-10 minutes with school traffic. After the light change it was 15 minutes on average.
The new high school is supposed to go in soon. This should create an even more dangerous situation as 16-18yo drivers are much less patient and driving savvy than parents.

After several accidents and a death, this intersection needs to be a stoplight. The volume of cars from 2 neighborhoods this intersection services is unacceptable. At the very least a study needs to be done.

Lower speed 25 mph
-
Slower speed limit. 25 mph. Add traffic light, turn lanes. Widen west bound shoulder adding right turn lane onto Lolo Pass. Crossing light.
-
Slower speed. 25 mph through Rhododendron. Crossing light.
-
This area is in desperate need of sidewalks, pedestrian crosswalks with flashing lights, and general infrastructure for pedestrians on Oatfield Road and Thiessen Road. Particularly with NCPRD planning to turn the old Concord School into a community center/library, neighborhood residents need a safe way to get there!

I think you should slow the speed on Borland Rd and Willamette Falls Drive to 35 and put protected bike lanes to the side. That would change the character of the road from “junior 205” to a nice country ramble.
