This area does not even have a sidewalk, or even a turning lane. This is a major connection between a lot of residential areas and the heart of Gastonia. Bike lanes, sidewalks and overall road widening needs to happen.

This may be a good and protected route for the Bethesda Oaks comment to provide a safe connection to downtown via an expanded Greenway. This greenway connection would serve the eastern part of Gastonia very well.

Connecting to Crowders Mountain State Park is important.
-
Connecting to other towns along Franklin and Wilkinson Blvd. is important (US. Hwy 29-74).

How do you address these satellite annexations?
-
Connecting West Gastonia to downtown Gastonia is imperative.
-
light rail is currently planned to have a stop in this area. Coordinate with Belmont and Cramerton so that Gastonia city residents can access the light rail via bicycle trails.

I'd love to ride my bike from the Bethesda Oaks neighborhood to Downtown, FUSE and Rankin Lake Park, but South New Hope Road and Franklin Blvd are too dangerous for bikers! Maybe Garrison Blvd would be better and, of course, bike lanes would be a tremendous help.
