Comments for “Yavapai County Regionally Significant Roads Study - Pioneer Pkwy”

Please help Prescott become as road bike friendly as it is mountain bike friendly. Clearly marked bike lanes and multi-use paths would be helpful.
-
There is no reason for the speed limit to drop to 45mph around this intersection. Keep it at 55mph for the entire length of Pioneer Parkway.
-
While there is a protected left turn when traveling north on Willow Creek Rd turning left onto Pioneer Parkway, it is very dangerous to sit in that left turn lane as the cars turning left from Pioneer Parkway westbound south onto Willow Creek consistently drive into that protected left turn lane to complete their turn and risk hitting the cars sitting there waiting to turn.
-
I think the traffic circle will really help vehicles get through that intersection more safely. I look forward to it being done!
-
It is increasingly difficult to go make a left turn to go east on Pioneer Parkway from Symphony (from the north) due to heavy traffic.
-
The speed limit should go back up to 55 MPH for the entire stretch. If the homeowners are concerned about noise then they should not have purchase a home next to a major road. Also since the road quality was improved the noise was drastically reduced anyway.
-
After increasing from 45 to 55 why does it go back to 45 here? It causes an increase in gasoline usage by having to maintain 45 on an uphill when you already have the coasting speed from 55.
-
Please consider the possibility of paving some of the gravel trails such as Peavine or Ironsprings for those of us who are not bike warriors and or are too afraid to share the dangerous roads with cars such as Pioneer Parkway or the steep mountain roads. There are so many elderly residents who would love to have the opportunity to ride our bikes and feel safe in. doing so.
-
A designated wide bike lane and signage indicating bikes share the road may enhance one's desire to commute to work by bike and create a more safe bicycling experience for recreational bikers. Nothing will force a distracted motorist to care or pay attention but having a paved bike lane would help keep the bicyclist out of the vehicle lanes.
-
Although Pioneer Parkway has a nice shoulder, it is still ONLY a shoulder on a major roadway that Carrie’s a large volume of fast-moving (and not always bicycle-friendly) traffic. A separated bike lane would be a huge improvement.
-
As you know, Prescott is a HUGE biking community for both mountain bikes and road bikes. It is part of the reason people move here. With the modern day digital media and driving, it is becoming more and more dangerous for people riding bysicles.
I would love to see multi-use paths or paved shoulders on Williamson Valley Road and Pioneer Parkway. A multi-use path along Pioneer Parkway would be particularly helpful.
I love our town and love biking in it. Please consider our safety as we grow.
Thank you for your consideration.

Adding multi-use lane will enhance the roadway: increased safety for cyclists and e-bike riders, better traffic flow and safety as vehicles will no longer need to navigate around cyclists and e-bikes,
-
Multi-use paths or paved shoulders on the full length of Pioneer Parkway would encourage more cyclists, keep cyclist safe and make it clear to motorists. More multi-use paths or paved shoulders would reduce vehicles on the road because it would be safer for various types of riders to run their errands, commute and exercise.

With the advent of e-assist bicycles and the reality that Yavapai County is a growing tourist and older resident population it is essential that this road be upgraded to prevent accidents and promote safety. Designated bicycling lanes, signage to protect bicyclists, intersection striping and space accommodations will reduce dangers and increase safety. Bicyclists will then become more present on these roads and gain the legitimacy they deserve.
-
Add paved multi use path along pioneer parkway. Also the paved shoulders are uneven due to not being fully paved when subsequent asphalt applications were done. This has created a safety hazard for cyclists.
-
Please add paved bike paths and explore safe and creative intersection crossings for those who aren’t heavy enough to trigger lights. Crossing traffic to get to a pedestrian crossing button on the right side of the road, when turning left, creates additional hazard.
