These unmarked crosswalks north/south across Kings Valley Highway are not respected by drivers at all. The roadway here needs to be narrowed significantly so pedestrians and cyclists are comfortably able to cross in and out of the Walmart driveway from the north.
-
The bike lane on the south side of this stretch of Ellendale (eastbound) was installed in the door zone, and is unusable if any cars are parked along this stretch. Either the bike lane needs to be removed and the roadway narrowed to slow down drivers, or the parking should be removed and a buffered bike lane installed in it's place.
-
Our daughter crashed going downhill at this park entrance due to the speed bump at the bottom of the hill being installed with no bike cut in the center of the lane, as was done in other areas of the park. We need to ensure that all speed bumps are installed with cyclists in mind, especially near parks.
-
The marked crosswalk at this location abruptly ends at a curb on the south side of Ellendale, so pedestrians have to walk to the east or west to use a driveway to get onto the sidewalk. This location needs a pedestrian curb cut installed.
-
The traffic signals at this intersection do not trip for cyclists at all.
-
The bike lanes along this stretch are too narrow, as they have storm grates installed along them which make them narrower than the legal width. The eastbound bike lane also currently has an ODOT road construction sign filling it! This stretch of Kings Valley Highway needs to be re-painted to provide full-width bike lanes the entire way.
-
The bike lane abruptly ends on the downhill stretch of Kings Valley Highway here, with no indication given to either drivers or cyclists that they need to merge. This stretch is also commonly driven very fast because the street is so wide.
-
This stretch of Ellendale is significantly too wide and is commonly treated as a drag strip. The school pickup line on the south side and the street parking on the north side need to be removed and buffered bike lanes installed between at least Douglas Street and Leavens Street to make it more comfortable and safer for other road users to make use of this stretch.
-
The slip lane on the south-west corner of this intersection makes it very dangerous for other road users, and it is regularly driven at high speeds. This slip lane needs to be removed so drivers must stop and make a hard right to proceed south down Leavens Street. This will also allow marked crosswalks to be installed across both Leavens and Ellendale, as none are marked at this time.
-
The marked crosswalk at this intersection is dangerous because Leavens Street is ridiculously wide along this stretch. All of the pull-in parking in front of Lyle School needs to be removed and the street substantially narrowed to slow motor vehicle traffic, particularly given that this is right in front of a school.
-
The visibility of pedestrians at this marked crosswalk is very poor, due to the telephone pole installed at the north-east corner and the overall width of Ellendale. The street needs to be narrowed to slow motor vehicle traffic and help drivers to see pedestrians.

The traffic signal at this intersection does not trip for cyclists. Occasionally it will trip on Walnut when heading eastbound, but it does not function in the other directions.
-
The marked crosswalk here is the only one on this stretch of Ellendale between Kings Valley Highway and Lacreole Dr, despite this stretch being full of businesses and residences. I regularly see pedestrians running across the street due to the lack of marked crosswalks. There needs to be marked crosswalks no further than a block apart at least between Kings Valley Highway and Polk Station Road.
-
The speed limit through this stretch of Ellendale is 35 MPH! It is almost continual driveways, with many drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians commonly present. The speed limit should be no more than 20-25 MPH given how busy this stretch can be.

When Fairview had work done in 2024, it was extremely poor. The roadway is uneven, is broken apart in places, and large holes were completely ignored. How was this work even approved? I truly hope that these patch jobs are fixed, because the work done is incredibly bad. I truly hope we don't see this poor of work in the future.
