If we are going to run BRT here, we need to make sure we are building densely around the corridor. It's not super dense in parts of East Durham
Can you two-way the downtown loop please? Would be a great option to run the bus on Morgan. It's way too busy on E Chapel Hill for dedicated bus lanes.
This is the straightest route into Duke, W.Main is under utilized infrastructure
Excessive infrastructure is under utilized and can more easily be repurposed for BRT, and avoiding too many turns
Massive new bridge needed to connect the city. Route BRT on the Morgan Loop and connect to South with Carr
Duke buses use this area to take their breaks and block traffic. Can the city do something about this?
This road is already so congested between the speeding Duke busses and Duke employees who park in the lot without paying attention to anything. How would a rapid transit route work on this road?
Can we have sidewalks on both sides of the street?
Why not have the route loop back on club blvd.
Initially the failed light rail wasn't going to go to NCCU, and the project was made stronger when NCCU was added (although Duke killed it in the end). Let's not make the same mistake with BRT (and make sure Duke documents their support).
I think getting students and staff quickly to Durham Tech would be a big plus. And then maybe easier to continue buses on the freeway to the jobs in RTP.
seems like it would make more sense to serve Hayti, NCCU and Durham Tech rather than the Village, which is served fine by Route #3 and where the frequent stops of local bus service are most valued.
Please include service to the Central Park District area! Lots of big events happen here
Agree fully with other comments indicating that the central downtown area should be included in BRT.
BRT should *definitely* connect to Duke, but the proposed loop through West Campus is not on any existing street and is misleading.
Please add bus service to Cornwallis or Academy
A forward thinking planner would enable a Durham-to-RDU extension here in the BRT plan or as a next phase. An airport connection is sorely needed to improve access and reduce airport traffic congestion and parking congestion. Frequent shuttles from airports to city centers are a hallmark of the most livable and high-quality cities.
There needs to be a major stop in this central downtown intersection. It has housing, restaurants, shopping, and more that many people will want to frequently access.
Must avoid pushing BTR through Blackwell St. along Bulls Park and DPAC. While these are major destinations, this street is a nightmare to get through already. Instead, stops should be placed on the north and/or south ends of the street to place people as close as possible to these destinations without entering the street.
There should be a transit hub and/or major stop here to enable students and professionals to transfer from Duke campus to the BTR and vice versa.
There should be a connection between Duke campus transit and the BTR, like a mini-transit hub to allow riders to easily switch between the services.
There should be a bus stop at the 9th st intersection, but the BRT route should avoid 9th St., which is already too congested and busy.
A bus station at or near Food Lion would help people improve access to groceries and food. However, this store is frequently visited by homeless/destitute folks who can make others feel unsafe/uncomfortable, so extra security and safety may be necessary at this juncture.
A stop here would be nice to make it more feasible to do smaller, more frequent grocery trips and not rely on car to do it.
I like the plan to upgrade this area with BRT
