Sidewalk along W MacArthur passing under 24/980 is constantly littered with broken glass from break-ins & dumped trash. Extremely unfriendly to pedestrians.
Improved street lighting needed in areas around MacArthur BART. 2-3 blocks away from BART is where many muggings occur.
A crosswalk somewhere here would be helpful. I see a lot of people cross, especially children.
No crosswalk. There are 3 senior homes (Sojourner Truth Manor) between 58th Street and 60th.
Traffic speeds down MLK, one cannot safely cross the street in either direction.
Pedestrian beacon lights needed at intersections along MLK from 54th, 56th Street to the Berkeley border.
Sidewalk too narrow for two people to walk comfortably or pass each other on the street from 52nd Street to Berkeley border on Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
All of the uncontrolled pedestrian crossings along Grand Ave here need to be upgraded via striping, signage, beacons, bulb-outs, etc. Many, many drivers cut off pedestrians trying to cross at these locations.
None of the new Broadway pedestrian crossings installed here as part of the Kaiser Hospital project added pedestrian call buttons at the median island refuges. Since the pedestrian walk signals are all actuated by buttons, this means if a pedestrian can only get to the median before the light turns red then they are stuck there until someone else presses a button on the other side, or they cross against the signal.
A stop sign is needed at the intersection of 55th and Genoa, to stop vehicle traffic on 55th and allow pedestrians and bicyclists to cross safely.
Although Genoa is considered a "residential" street and 55th is a "collector" street for cars, they are both equally important bicycle routes. Adding a controlled intersection here would help reinforce Genoa as a true bicycle-priority bike boulevard.
Sight lines between pedestrians and drivers/bicyclists at the intersection of Webster and 22nd are terrible due to a curbside parking spot on the NW corner which obscures the view of the crosswalk from oncoming traffic. The SE corner on the far side of the intersection inexplicably has a red curb for no apparent reason, so the NW corner parking spot could easily be moved to the SE corner to help daylight the crosswalk.
A paving and bicycle lane project was recently implemented on Peralta Street, but no marked crosswalks were added to Peralta at that time even though approximately 2 of them are warranted via Oakland's own crosswalk decision matrix policy. Please revisit the Peralta project and add the marked crosswalks that should have been implemented already.
A road diet and bicycle lane project was recently implemented on Adeline Street, but no marked crosswalks were added to Adeline at that time even though approximately 3 of them are warranted via Oakland's own crosswalk decision matrix policy. Please revisit the Adeline project and add the marked crosswalks that should have been implemented already.

The wait for a walk light is extremely long here at the intersection of 40th and the MacArthur BART access road, especially for such a high pedestrian area. It looks like a pedestrian scramble phase might be implemented as part of the station improvements, but this should be made formal with diagonal crossings allowed. Also, it is unclear as to whether the ped buttons actuate the walk light or not, but this location should have a permanent pedestrian recall every phase, at least during the hours when BART is running.
The pedestrian signal timing for MLK crossing 55th (both E and W side) is long enough for a walk phase every time, but still pedestrians are required to push the button to get a walk light.
For the crosswalks along 55th crossing MLK, the walk signal button should be "hot", meaning that a walk phase can still be given even when a pedestrian pushes the button shortly after the light turns green for 55th.
New traffic signal at Safeway driveway along Claremont across from Mystic defaults to a red hand for pedestrians, even when the light is green for cars on Claremont. This means that pedestrians are required to push a button to simply continue walking along the sidewalk, even when zero cars are present.
Pedestrian walk signal for 55th crossing Shattuck is not provided even the button is pressed even a split second after the light turns green for cars.
E St from 85tg to 90th COULD BE TURN INTO A PEDESTRIAN ONLY STREET. GETTING ALL THE TOXIC SITES OUT AND CARS OFF AND TURN INTO GREEN AND CLEAN
The WHOLE AREA OF 7TH TO 90TH. MAKING PEDESTRIAN ROADS.
This is a very dangerous location for pedestrians (and vehicles and cyclists). Vehicles from Telegraph to Shattuck fly through the stop sign too often.
Crosswalks on Harrison and Oakland feel incredibly unsafe. Just walking on the sidewalk on both street feels extremely uncomfortable with high speed traffic.
This intersection has lots of pedestrians and is uncomfortable and car-oriented. Can we close off 24th Street to help this situation?
The signal timing of this intersection makes no sense and unnecessarily increases pedestrian delay.
This intersection is insanely wide and is a disservice to pedestrians. Why are we prioritizing cars here? Walking through here to work, there are a large number of other people waiting at the intersection. It's such an important gateway for walking to Downtown and the Lake.
Crossing distances are way to long and cycle length way too long at this important intersection. Such a dense residential neighborhood and important access to Lake Merritt.
uncontrolled crosswalk enhancements needed. Lots of bad behavior/failure to yield by drivers. Maybe street lighting would help that?
