Once again, if you were using the frontage road as not to get killed by cars on the shoulders, you're stopped with no way to get back to the main lanes.

  2. November 24 2016

This intersection is really dangerous, even in a car. All these unnecessary cutouts to LRTpke create a ton of confusion for drivers, and they're trapped there, needing to use the Pizza Hut parking lot to get onto prosperity.

  3. November 24 2016

There's no good way to access this path and it is narrow, bumpy, and completely neglected.

  4. November 24 2016

Surprise! If you were using the rontage road here as not to get killed, you're stuck. Have fun trying to get back to the traffic lanes.

  5. November 24 2016

This choke point will get you killed traveling WB. You need to live in the turn lane, which cars don't quite understand, but when you reach lake here, you're stuck with a horribly crossing into a mess, no sidewalk, just some rutted ground, a building that for some reason lives across the upcoming frontage road, and no way to get to that frontage road if you make it across alive.

  6. November 24 2016

These sections of path are too narrow, and badly maintained.

  7. November 24 2016

Again, as a connecting trail, this could be a good option but the county has let the pavement become completely destroyed through here. Root upwellings are 2-4" high and there are giant holes and entire sections of trail falling away at unmaintained culvert crossings. The gravel sections further west are smoother than the broken, neglected pavement here.

Accotink trail to Old Lee HWY is a decent route to get to downtown FFX, but for the fact that the trail has been so utterly neglected by the county. Sections of the newest piece (near this marker) are crumbling into the creek and roots are pushing up curbs perpendicular to the trail, making it very hazardous. West of King Arthur, the trail is so washed out and rutted, with such huge rocks and loose gravel, that it's dangerous and narrowing as entire sections erode into the creek.

I live in Camelot, lived in Fall Church and commuted for 5 years in and out to Alexandria on the corridors there. I had to stop when we moved here, because little river tpke (only 10 miles to my job!) is an absolute traffic disaster. I would love to be able to ride to FFX city too, but TPKE traffic needs to be slowed down and intersections need more thought to getting cyclists across. Shoulders need to be widened because the few pieces of trail alongside are narrow, old, beat to hell, overgrown with noxious weeds, and covered with broken glass and sand. This could be a great biking corridor if traffic were calmed, first job.

  10. November 24 2016

This uphill (traveling west) is very dangerous as it's got no space for cyclists, they're moving slowly, and the traffic coming off the beltway is moving WAY too quickly. The speed limit here is 45, but cars frequently do 55 because the road is wide and divided and looks like a highway to them. It needs a lower speed limit (as in FFX city) and traffic calming like pinch points at intersections, narrowed lanes to provide bike lanes, etc.

  11. November 24 2016

The lack of shoulder or turn lane and variability of sidewalk/frontage road along this stretch makes it very dangerous cycling. There's plenty of space along here to get something done.

  12. November 24 2016

These frontage roads make decent bike routes, but the surface is very, very rough -- requiring really fat tires or suspension.

  13. November 24 2016

The sidewalks that are the default bike route here are completely covered with debris including garbage and TONS of glass shards from both bottles and car accidents. Much of this looks like it remains from melted, plowed snow from last winter. For these to be viable bike routes, this must be swept from time to time, at least as necessary.

  14. November 24 2016

These crossings are very dangerous, both for running and cycling. Further toward Alexandria, some of the LR tpke crossings recently got signals. These are better options, but need to place the signal further away from the post/button itself. Cars are moving way too quickly in these locations, and need to be calmed.

Similar to Prosperity Ave, Woodburn Rd has little to no shoulders and does not provide an easy approach to the CCT or Rt. 236.

  16. October 14 2016

Too narrow for biking or walking.

  17. October 13 2016

The way the bike lanes on Wakefield Chapel suddenly end and simultaneously funnel four lanes into two at the top of a hill with limited visibility is bad news. What is worse is that there is no shoulder where the bike lanes end, driving cyclists into traffic unexpectedly. There is a dirt foot path that has been worn out behind some bushes but this is not immediately obvious to most cyclists in the bike lane.

  18. October 11 2016

Getting to Little River Turnpike is very difficult and dangerous from Lincolnia Rd.

  19. October 08 2016

Daily commuter through this intersection here, and I like how the bike lanes create a space for riders as they go down the hill towards the intersection. Thanks!

  20. September 28 2016

Shared lane markings should be placed on this block of Accotink Parkway, where the Cross County Trail runs on the street.

  21. September 23 2016

I agree that this area has a nice safe lane but it needs to be widened. There are often walkers and dogs being walked here so bikers need to be cautious. There are also some blind turns due to trees and car traffic that can be hazardous closer to Braddock road.

  22. September 23 2016

It would be great to be able to stay on either the north or south side of 236 to bike east/west. Now cyclist are repeatedly crossing 236 to avoid dangers, whether it's cars or pedestrians or having to ride on the emergency lane of 236.

  23. September 23 2016

Around this spot on the north side, heading east, a biker either has to ride on grass or the emergency lane which narrows dangerously before getting to a sidewalk again. Or cross 236 without a traffic light to get to sidewalk.

  24. September 23 2016

From Barnside to Landmark mall, this area has no safe bike riding lane due to car and pedestrian traffic. Signs warning of bicyclists are needed since people aren't used to bikers here.

  25. September 21 2016

A bike lane on Prosperity would be incredible for access to metro and Gallows. A second option could be a widening on Woodburn Road. Can catch the CCT at the bottom of Woodburn. Right now the best option is riding thru the residential streets of Winterset (which is ok).
