Bike route
My house is here at 5125 NW 62nd Terrace. I am glad to submit ideas but having difficulty setting Plaza of the Americas as destination. We are getting FEWER bike/bus options from the NW side. I am open to whatever path makes sense to get to UFF main campus as long as it is safe and efficient. I was trying to use Plaza of the Americas as proxy endpoint, but only have Facebook on cellphone and can't seem to map the route. Hope this will do!
Bike commuters on Glen Springs Road would greatly benefit from converting the existing pedestrian sidewalk (about 2 miles) into a wider shared-use path. The road is not safe for bicyclists and rarely used for that purpose, with most choosing to share the cramped sidewalk that directly connects 9 neighborhoods and 7 apartment complexes to 2 schools and multiple businesses, which has sections that in their current state are in need of repair. Turning the sidewalk into a wider path would be an easy win (extending into the city easement in most places along the route) and a safe connector for NW 13th and NW 34th streets.
Add pedestrian crossings with lights on Tower Road to access other neighborhoods, bus stops, and library. There are too few pedestrian cross walks to cross Tower Road safely.
We walk Tower Road almost daily and love Vetran’s Park. The Tower Road path is overgrown and covered by debris and multiple dead animals creating hazards for walking and biking. The smell is horrible. It would be nice to be able to report these hazards to the county via an App like GNV has.
Recreational use of a quite country (county) road to reach Legacy Park.
A bicycle lane to connect to Legacy Park from 202 Street via Peggy Road. 441 is too busy for casual bike rides. There is a need to improve quieter county roads that can be used by local citizens that want to ride for recreational purposes. There are many roads between High Springs and Alachua that could create connections between these towns that is not 441 for locals to use.
