A few Evergreen Trees.
Evergreen Trees filter dust from roof tops, winter graveling and traffic.
Evergreen Trees provide inspiration to off ramps going to a city's destination.
Evergreen Trees eat carbon dioxide and make oxygen. Small Evergreen trees use less water at start up planting.Liked 0 times -

3RD
Add some kind of center divider so that people cannot cross the center line when going east on W. 3rd Place. Cars/Trucks are constantly crossing the center line. Alternatively, placing pavement reflectors or rumble strips so when it is crossed it reminders drivers that they are corssing

6TH
This area on 6th from Taco Bell to Fred Meyers is very dangerous for pedestrians. Can't there be at least one or two pedestrian crosswalks put in? I have repeatedly seen buses full of youngsters, park in the lot at Cascade Square, and then attempt to cross 6th street to access the businesses (mostly food). It is a long walk from Freddy's to Taco Bell to the only crosswalks in the area. This leads to people trying to dash across the traffic. It is not only kids, but it is a long walk for those who have disabilities. This leaves people getting into cars to cross to the other side, adding to the congestion.

Fix this bridge ASAP. If it collapses, thousands of people will be economically stranded.

Let's face it: we need more taxes to pay for better roads. There was a lot of red on the road quality map. The city's gas tax needs to be based on both absolute value of gas and percentage of the price. Property taxes should also be bumped up a little to pad the coffers enough.

Can we connect this with State Rd?

The overpass hides the lights at 2nd and 6th. Consider unambiguous pre-signals or a slower speed limit.

This would be a good area for parking for the baseball field, and for more park facilities (e.g. a playground at the corner near the baseball fields and Shell).

A second ingress/egress to the hospital is vital. Try connecting 19th to allow access to the hospital from Thompson St.

Plan for eventual integration of 2nd St and Chenoweth Loop Rd. This may be done by raising 6th/Chenoweth Loop and building an overpass to 2nd. This may not be needed for 10+ years, but keep the option available.

Make one-way signs more prominent. There are still some wrong-way drivers along 1st St.

This area has always looked weird. A little eminent domain can extend the center turn lane quite some distance.

This interchange is antiquated due to Cherry Heights Rd. reaching 2nd St. and access from Chenoweth Loop Road. Consider closing this exit, but leave the onramp as long as its auxiliary lane becomes Exit 84's exit.

Consider protected left-turn motions while prohibiting unprotected turning movements.

The city needs fixed-route bus service. I suggest one route clockwise and one route counterclockwise. MCMC, CGCC, downtown, and TDHS should all be served.

This could be the state's second diverging diamond interchange, including the I-84 ramps in both directions and the Clodfelter/Lone Pine intersection. The existing interchange with Lone Pine Lane would then need to be closed.

Traffic from the south is blind to other traffic. Because the intersection can't practicably be reconfigured, an all-three-way-stop should be considered.

Shared Roadway
The intersection of Thompson and E12th is now almost impassable with a sedan due to the recent roadwork. The pavement cuts have not been filled and paved. The potholes are a few inches deep and the depth increases daily.

Because of the mandatory 1 mile no-bussing of children all of the elementary schools need to have a 1 mile safety radius where there are safe places for children to walk home from school. Some of these areas do not have sidewalks at this time and children as young as 6 walk home from here.

A pedestrian staircase/bike ramp from E 9th and Lewis St. to Brewery Grade to the junction of Hwy. 30 Brewery Pass Rd. would create a safe and interesting alternative route from the residential east side of The Dalles to recreational destinations down at the river and beyond.
Additionally, this is one of the first sights someone will see coming off the interstate; right now it is only a roughly vegetated, undeveloped hillside. This staircase/bike ramp would be a natural extension of Lewis Street from 9th St. all the way to the river.
