As noted at the first Advisory Committee Meeting on Nov. 18th, 2015, there has been (and currently there is) an effort to engineer and construct a pedestrian/bike trail from Thompson City Park to Oil Can Henry's, then eventually (next phase) to the Senior Center, then to the Riverfront Trail from Thompson Park. Pre-engineering for the section of trail from Thompson City Park to Oil Can Henry's has been completed and work is currently taking place to set the stage for securing Urban Renewal funding for the full engineering work for this section. I am the point person on this project for The Dalles Watershed Council and the Riverfront Trail Committee. Please let me know if you have any questions, or are in need of documents regarding this effort, as you develop the plan update.

Wasco County has the highest obesity rates among children in the state. One way to address this is by providing easy, comfortable, and safe ways for kids to bike and walk to school. Provide infrastructure near the middle school.

This is a location on Mill Creek that was once an rv park. There are oak trees and plenty of space for a recreational path that could also serve as a path for people who walk or bike to get to downtown. It's gorgeous. I suggest prioritizing this in long range plans to foster healthy transportation and tourist-based economic development.

East Second Street is an ODOT road and therefore out of the city's jurisdiction. However, I commuted by car on East Second for over two years, and frequently saw people bicycling and walking despite dangerous conditions for walking and biking- so there's a need for this to be accessible.

A great scenic bikeway could be located in this area to could attract visitors (and tourism-related economic development) to The Dalles and provide Sorosis Park access for adults, kids, and families.

It will be important for there to be access to people who walk and people who bike to the future transit center.

The Senior Center is near here, so access for people who walk is especially important here. The area should be comfortable and safe for seniors- people who walk more slowly- to walk nearby.

This area is not comfortable for people who bike or walk. A mid-block crosswalk with bollards could provide access for people who would like to walk from Rite Aid or Grocery Outlet to Fred Meyer. The Senior Center is closeby: the area should be comfortable for seniors who would like to access stores by walking to them.

The roundabout needs to provide more safe, comfortable access for people who bike and people who walk.

Bike lanes end on west end of round-about leaving you in the middle of traffic. Need connection to safe route.

Difficult intersection for bikers. Bump outs have improved ped safety but makes accommodating bike lanes more difficult

Difficult Intersection for bikers. W 10th has good bike lanes and they just kind of end here.

Bike lanes on W 6th street seem dangerous with all of the driveways and turn lanes. Driving on W 6th is dangerous for the same reasons. Semis parked in ROW are not helping. Not sure how to make it safer for everyone.

Parallel parking lines could prevent the waste of parking spaces. This happens when cars park too close together to allow another car in, but are far enough apart that 5-8 feet is wasted.
