A pedestrian staircase/bike ramp from Fremont St./Old Dufur Rd. to the junction of Hwy. 30 and US 197 would create a safe and intersesting alternative route from the residential east side of The Dalles to medical and recreational destinations down at the river and beyond.

Protected or buffered bike lanes are needed on this busy commercial corridor. On sections with a bike lane and parking lane, simply swapping the lanes so that the bike lane is adjacent to the sidewalk instead of being adjacent to the travel lane, will create a protected buffer and increase bicyclists' sense of safely when traveling.

A major crosstown and north/south intersection. A roundabout here would assist in calming traffic and decrease wait time at the traffic signal in all directions.

A major crosstown and north/south intersection. A roundabout here would assist in calming traffic in all directions, as well as eliminating the need for the center left-turn lane. With the ROW from the turn lane freed up, the street could be restriped to accommodate protected bike lanes on each side of the street.

Pedestrian/bicycle access from Downtown to Riverfront Trail needed. Madison St. is one of the few streets extending north of 1st, and would provide access to the Trail and Marina on the east side of downtown.

A simple staircase would allow pedestrian access from Downtown to the Mid-Columbia Center for Living /WIC Office at 7th and Laughlin.

Essential access from to the Marina, Riverfront Park and Riverfront Trail. This overpass, if not widened, needs pedestrian/bicycle ways attached to the side(s) of the overpass, providing enough room for all users to safely cross.

The Bicycle Advisory Committee thought that it was especially important for 7th Street to be the most-used bikeway in the western portion of The Dalles. Few cars use 7th, yet amenities including the movie theater and future transit center are to be located along it. It can a connection to destinations further to the east.

Bridge St. Between 8th and 9nth has never been paved. My family has lived in the area and used Bridge St since the late 1920s.Paying property taxes since then or when they started. The street gets more traffic every year and more dust blowing.I think we deserve to have the street paved after all these years.

Unpaved streets incur annual maintenance costs as well as safety issues when rains distribute mud and gravel from steep streets onto paved cross streets.

12th Street between Thompson and Morton is poorly maintained street. It is an embarrassment for the residents that live on the street and deserves more attention considering the taxes residents that live on the street pay.

This section of E 12th St is poorly maintained, lacks sidewalks and drainage on most of the blocks between Thompson and Richmond.

Existing Bike Lane
Our community has poor access to the Riverfront Trail on the west side of town. We need a safe pedestrian/bike route over the Exit 82 overpass, which will also help make the transition more friendly from the historic highway to the Riverfront Trail. both residents and visitors would benefit.

As Mid-Columbia Medical Center has continued to grow, it has significantly increased commute time traffic density all along Dry Hollow Road, Brewery Grade, Oregon Street and East 10th. Work with MCMC to stagger start times, develop an alternative route or find other options to address this heavy traffic load.

Lack of adequate sidewalks or walking paths mean students are walking in the bike lanes, unprotected from fast-moving traffic on 10th.

This area could use some traffic calming mechanisms

Even with the narrower streets to the west, people regularly travel this street at dangerously high speeds. We have seen -- and been the victims of -- numerous accidents at 10th and Lewis.

If we are anticipating significant family-style residential growth east of here, then we need to plan for a greater amount of pedestrian and bicycle traffic on main routes like 12th and 14th. We may not need full-scale city center development standards in our outlying neighborhoods, but we do need to create some key pedestrian/bike routes. The roads are fairly narrow out here and walking on the side of the road is more risky than in other parts of the city.

This intersection needs a traffic control device to allow easier left hand turns from Cherry Heights Rd onto 2nd.

Why not continue the 20 mph speed zone as it exists along W 3rd St.from the intersection at W 4th to continue along W 3rd Pl. to Trevitt, and across the Mill St. bridge along W 6th to the Cherry Heights Rd.intersection. These streets and the bridge are narrow with a sharp turn, confusing intersection at Trevitt, and daily congestion. A slower speed would have a needed traffic calming effect.

This road which connects the Marina to US30 needs to be widened (including the overpasses) to accommodate pedestrian and bicycle traffic with some degree of separation from the lanes of vehicular traffic.
