I walk across this intersection 3-4 times per week and find it the most dangerous location along my route. Many drivers do not stop. I really like the roundabout solution, especially if it includes flashing lights to alert drivers that pedestrians are crossing.

It's tough to cross Rose Hill with a bike at Owhyee. There aren't great lines of sight and traffic is usually moving pretty quickly. A roundabout would make it easier to make it through.

When trying to turn left out of Shoshone onto Rose Hill, there is near constant traffic both ways almost throughout the day now. Frequent speeding as well.

When pulling out of Peasly onto Rose Hill, it is very difficult to see oncoming traffic, especially west bound. If there are cars parked near the intersection, you have to get almost out into oncoming traffic to see.

Walking/ biking with children along Owyhee is extremely dangerous with no sidewalk and/or bike lane. I am shocked this hasn’t been resolved already with two schools nearby.
I would gladly give up some yard space to install a sidewalk as would several neighbors.

    Owyhee street should have sidewalks.

It is ridiculous trying to cross as a pedestrian, let alone when walking the dogs. Nobody stops and waits can be very long at even low traffic times because of the release of traffic at the signals at Latah and Vista. A round about is the stupidest thing I have heard of. I am an engineer. A roundabout would just make it that much worse for pedestrian traffic to navigate this intersection. There is a large pedestrian, bicycle population that crosses Rosehill at Owyhee

A roundabout at Owyhee sounds more complicated/dangerous for anyone walking or on a bike, and none of the traffic actually stops???

People use Sierra St as a way to connect between Latah and Rosehill and avoid lights. They speed through this street and there are a lot children who live on this street. I would like to see speed bumps placed in this street to slow down cars who regularly speed down this neighborhood street.

Because of the curve in the road and cars going fast, trying to cross here even with the flashing beacon is still very dangerous.

Yes. Crossing Rose Hill at Peasley or Owyhee are very dangerous. This is a route many children take walking to Monroe Elementary and South Junior High. Many vehicles speed/ just don’t stop for pedestrians. I fear a roundabout will only add to the poor visibility.

Would like clearer bike lanes and markers for crossing Rose Hill on a bike. Traveling between Shoshone and Peasley.

As a pedestrian, the main problem for me are shrubs and plants. Several homes along the south side allow their hedges and shrubs to grow over the sidewalk so a large part of it can't be used. The worst is 3311 because the hedge borders the whole property so there's a long stretch where you have to stop and wait for anyone coming from the other direction. I just walked it today and in order to avoid the hedge from scratching my shoulder I was walking down the middle of the sidewalk.

Crossing RH at Owyhee with my children is very dangerous. Often people don't stop - even if we are halfway in the crosswalk. While I don't necessarily disagree with the roundabout - I am concerned that this will cause more crossing issues as drivers will be preoccupied with traffic in the roundabout over pedestrians. The round about needs to have some sort of pedestrian crossing light that is HIGHLY visible.

This is for walking/biking/running -the crosswalk that was installed is a joke. The vehicles don't stop, even when you are in the crosswalk. I have been halfway through the crosswalk and the vehicles still don't stop. Why can't the lights be changed to "red" to where the cars have to stop, as you would a regular crosswalk.

Agreed! I would like to see an actual red light installed. Vehicles don’t stop and have poor visibility of the crosswalks.

Left turning from Vista to RH can be treacherous. People go so fast to "slip" between our in front of traffic heading SB on Vista. Then they proceed down RH at speeds in excess of 30 MPH right into the next treacherous intersection, Peasley and RH.

I agree. I feel like the left turn signal from Vista to Rosehill should be left turn only and then solid red, not a blinking green light.

Trying to turn from Peasley into Rose Hill is treacherous. Vehicle speed on RH is 30-40 Mph, there is a significant blind spot due to the fence and shrubbery on the corner. Also cars parked on RH on the north side block sight of incoming traffic. ACHD/commissioners are aware. This intersection must be addressed/ considered in any traffic study to this stretch of RH.

I live in the Depot Bench Neighborhood and drive this intersection multiple times a week.

On the road parking on either side of Eiden can make it very difficult see cars in either direction. Its sketchy when pulling out onto Rose Hill, as cars are coming pretty fast.

Making a left turn from Peasley onto Rose Hill is very difficult due to the truck and trailer blocking the view. A better remedy than a roundabout would be a traffic light at Peasley.

Replacing the Ped crossing lights at Peasley with traffic influenced Stop & Go lights and Ped walk lights would solve 2 problems (turning from Peasley & pedestrian crossing).

You remember N64 Mario Kart? They have the perfect solution. Build large ramps for east and west rose hill traffic. Vehicles jump across the intersection. It does not impede north and south Owyhee vehicle/ped/bike traffic. Merge lanes for those vehicles along the ramps will be safer for them to turn on rose hill as through vehicles will be jumping overhead. Ped and bike traffic travel below and probably safe. Unless a car doesn't make that jump. Just put a speed limit sign of 50 and all will be good.

This is a dangerous intersection for everyone going through this area, walkers, bikers and drivers. Poor visability, odd and narrow negotiation turning right from Peasley to Rose Hill. Nearly blind visability turning left from Peasley to Rose Hill. Traveling east on Rose Hill to turn left onto Peasley is too narrow, especially when oncoming cars coming from Vista wish to turn left at Shoshone St. Conflict of turning in a short, curving and narrow space.

Lack of dedicated bikes facilities makes it difficult to get to the Peasley St bikeway from other side streets along Rose Hill. Forced to ride on the sidewalk and conflict with pedestrians. Consider removal of center left turn lane and creation of on-street bike lanes

Left turn lane is absolutely necessary for the people turning on to any of the several dead end streets. If they weren't there, traffic would back up until there was a space to turn left by the resident.

Long crossings at Vista/Rose Hill with poor sight distance for vehicles. Vehicles take the SB corner at high speeds.

Absolutely dreadful and terrifying intersection. I see near misses almost daily of traffic turning Westbound onto Rose Hill from Vista.
High speeds of cars traveling South on.Vista combined with wide left turn and curvature of lanes.

As someone that uses the Owyee / Rosehill intersection several times a week, I am not happy about the roundabout. I don't think there is enough room and will make it hard to turn left from Rosehill on to Owyhee St.

There needs to be more code enforcement .....too many spots where the vegetation has been allowed to grow out on or over the sidewalk making it harder for people to use the sidewalks.

    My suggestions:
*Make Peasley, One Way North, and allow U turn from Southbound at Vista and Rose Hill.
*Put a regular traffic light at Shoshone and Rose Hill, (OR at Owyhee, and forget the roundabout).
*Reduce speed limit to 25 on Rose Hill

Vegetation and landscaping growing over already narrow sidewalks is definitely an issue in more than just this location along Rose Hill.
