Improve accessibility by completing patchwork of sidewalk on the east side of Vickers Ave.

Difficult to cross as a pedestrian due to fast-approaching traffic. We often have to wait awhile/run to make it in between cars.

confusing intersection - people traveling south on shepherd end up making a u-turn on hermitage ct. instead of continuing straight onto university from shepherd.

My house on Urban Avenue underwent over $100K worth of damage after a bus barreled through our fence on the north gregson side and collided with our house. This event was in part caused by a driver running a red light on Markham however I have no doubt the bus driver was also going way too fast to lose such control and collide with such force with our house one block down. Luckily no children were on the bus, no pedestrians were on the sidewalk, and noone was in the section of my house that was hit however accidents like this one could have much scarier outcomes if we dont act. Some solutions to this problem include making a single lane road which would help to add bike lanes and additional street parking, as well as additional stop signs to discourage drivers from gaining too much speed. thank you for helping try to avoid such disasters in the future.

Need protected bike lanes on Duke and/or Gregson in the downtown area.

There have been numerous crashes at Gregson/Englewood over the past 10+ years. The hill on Gregson + drivers coming off I-85 + the two-lane one-way road is a safety catastrophe. Please convert back to two-way and reduce the design speed to 25mph or lower. Maintaining one-way traffic is not the answer. Even with a single lane, drivers will still speed.

This intersection today is extremely dangerous, particularly for cars crossing Gregson westbound. There’s a big tree there and cars come down the hill fast — I’ve seen many near wrecks.

We have lived at 1406 N Duke St for 3 years. In that time span, we have responded to several mid-to-high-speed accidents that have taken place within 30 yards of our front door. Twice (that we know of), a pedestrian has been hit after one of the cars in the accident spun off the road!

As stated in the study description, this street is fast, dangerous, and incredibly loud. If we aim to decrease average speed on this road (and N Gregson), the following steps may prove influential:

    1. Transform all intersections to roundabouts (this is probably the most important, as many accidents we've responded to are at intersections).

    2. Make these streets two-way.

    3. Add speed bumps and/or a bike lane.

I've lived here for 5 years, and cars that want to speed can easily do it by switching between lanes. I commonly see cars going 45-55 mph as they drive towards the highway. I also see someone driving the wrong way about once a day. Which leads me to my next point: there are so many accidents on this street. My own parked car was totaled last year. Finally, many people, including myself, bike, walk, and wait for the bus on Duke/Gregson, and these neighbors are the most affected by speeding and a lack of pedestrian protections like protected bike lanes and crosswalks.

My husband and I have owned our home at 1108 N. Gregson Street for 25+ years. We are overjoyed that the issue is being looked at FINALLY, perhaps, with some level of intent to fix/address the issues. 1) The amount of traffic. 2) The speed of traffic. 3) Large vehicles constantly pounding the street and shaking our homes. I do not know a solution, however "one lane - perhaps a bit winding/one way" with parking on both sides of the street (for Gregson and Duke) perhaps a bike lane on one side wouldn't be a bad idea. It would resolve a lot of issues. Our particular issue is/has always been - we are just over the top of the hill at Demerius and we cannot see oncoming traffic and they cannot see us. At 35, not a big issue perhaps, at 45, 50, 70 mph, a HUGE issue, esp. the large vehicles. Issue needs to be resolved sooner rather than later. Thank you in advance.
