IT would be great having a buffered bike lane on Court and Railroad!

  2. October 19 2017

New overlay just to the shoulder stripe leaving the shoulders with debris and rough only force cyclist into the lane where it is a little smoother. Need shoulder improvement in this area.

  3. October 19 2017

The new Chip Seal overlay is rough and has taken the fun out of this route. Can we at least redo the shoulders with normal asphalt?

  4. October 19 2017

Airport Rd Speed limit is to high and road too narrow. Needs a buffered bike lane and reduced speed limit. There is no good safe route from Redding to Anderson.

  5. October 19 2017

The raised speed limit made this route from Redding to Anderson more dangerous. Needs a bike lane.

  6. October 19 2017

If there is room a buffered bike lane on Old Oregon Trail from about Oasis all the way to Anderson would be great for Shasta College students and bike enthusiasts. If there is not room for a buffered lane, then just a regular bike lane would be great. I am all for creating bike lanes without reducing traffic lanes or causing bikes to have to share a traffic lane with cars (too dangerous). The bike lanes that take bikes in between lanes of cars at intersections is very dangerous.

  7. October 19 2017

Streets are quite narrow in the old downtown area. Decreasing the number of traffic lanes to create separated bike lanes does not seem to be a good fit. I haven't seen a single bike rider on California Street since the third lane was removed. Adding speed humps, lane dividers at intersections, and mixing bikes in with cars in the same lanes is dangerous for the bike riders, and puts drivers on edge. Adding bike lanes where there is room (like the great bike lane on Churn Creek Rd between Boulder Creek School and about Home Depot) is fantastic. But displacing cars in order to accommodate bike traffic does not seem to be a good use of our roads.

  8. October 18 2017

Venture Parkway is not a top priority. It is relatively safe for bikes due to the low volume of traffic. Focus on Airport Rd. instead.

  9. October 18 2017

Please please please make Airport Rd. from Anderson to Shasta College a priority. This would improve accessibility for Shasta College students, Columbia School, Redding Airport, businesses at the 44 interchange, the soccer park, Big League Dreams, and other semi-rural neighborhoods that are tucked along this corridor.

The intersection at Hilltop and Dana is very dangerous for W/B or N/B cyclist trying to access the River Trail. There are no safety areas for (cyclist) left turns off Hilltop or (cyclist) straight through from Dana. There is a long dedicated right turn on for autos on W/B Dana which make it hard to even get to the straight through lane on a bicycle. Also the angle of the crosswalk across Hilltop creates a site distance issue; autos on S/B Hilltop turning left or going straight on Hill top block the view for autos turning right onto westbound 44.

The bike lanes on Rancho and Airport Roads are too narrow to safely use, especially considering the traffic speed on Airport Rd. Airport Road could benefit from either two lanes in both directions or the addition of turning lanes; this would be a great time to widen the bike lanes to at least 36 inches. Gravel and debris always accumulates in the outside 6-12 inches of roadsides; bikers need to avoid riding on the debris to prevent flat tires. If the lane is only the existing minimum of 12 inches, the biker usually moves closer to the inside road edge, greatly increasing the potential for accidents between the two. I drive both of these roads every day and I honestly think more bikers would use both roads if the bike lane was safer; this might even help reduce some of the congestion on Airport Rd (but probably not on it's own). Thanks for the opportunity to provide input.

    Add a crosswalk

  13. October 18 2017

Sorry I got my balloon on the wrong spot. My comment also applies to Riverside east of Court St.

  14. October 18 2017

I think it is a travesty to close Riverside Ave. at Court street to vehicle travel. Do you have any idea how many folks use that road and what a time and gas waster going another route would entail. How many bike riders go up that hill in comparison?

  15. October 18 2017

The bridge on Old Alturas is so unsafe that even a pedestrian can barely cross safely. I’m afraid like in many other areas it is going to take a death before anyone listens and acts!

  16. October 18 2017

    Really like this idea

  17. October 18 2017

Improve everything you can do. Making the community safe for bicycling and walking makes for a much more desirable place.

  18. October 18 2017

I am thrilled that the county is looking at improving peoples ability to travel by walking and biking. I am in favor of making these improvements anywhere possible. It makes for a healthier community and makes the area more desirable for all citizens.

  19. October 18 2017

What are the factors preventing the widening and installation of bike lanes on the Old Alturas Road bridge over Churn Creek? But for this hazard, I would do far more shopping and other business via bicycle. I note the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on bike lanes east of this location, but when I called the City 2-3 years ago after noticing some artifact surveyors working below the bridge, I was told this project is years off. The city/county pay lip service to encouraging biking/walking yet continue to let this hazard prevent any sensible person from commuting or traveling via Old Alturas to points west, such as Costco, Target, or the two supermarkets. Please provide substantive feedback on why this hazard continues to exist.

  20. October 18 2017

I am truly grateful that this area is targeted for improvement. I have ridden from the Country Oaks Subdivision on the current bike path on Churn Creek and felt a bit intimidated by encroaching traffic. These proposals appear to be great alternative paths that my family and I are eager to explore! Thank you again!

Comments in regards to the River Trail. I love to ride my bike, I need to for exercise but I don't feel safe on the city streets nor on the River Trail. I'm a senior citizen and would love to ride on the river trail but it's not safe for me to ride by myself and I have no one to ride with. I've even heard the police saying not to ride by yourself. So, what good are bike trails when it's not safe?

  22. October 17 2017

It's wonderful that this is being looked at and talked about. My main concern is safety. I will not ride my bike on Reddings streets. I've been almost run down twice, there are too many people who have been hit while riding s bike. Until Redding drivers pay attention no matter how improved things are for bike riders I still won't ride on city streets.

  23. October 17 2017

Great rural route for a bike lane.

  24. October 17 2017

Popular cycle route. I use it on my commute. Very fast traffic and no bike lane.

  25. October 17 2017

I cycle on this road everyday for my commute. Very narrow and some blind corners. Would love to see a bike lane.
