Bowdoin has edge lines West of Fruit, but this section has neither bike lanes nor edge lines. Very wide road allows flexibility
in design. Consider at least adding edge lines to reduce lane width and vehicle speeds.

Show this as a partner opportunity, by working with LA County to improve this small section. Change will provide a much safer method of accessing this high stress intersection

Should this be a Class III since it leads directly to a school? How else would students North of Baseline arrive at this school?

Should be identified as a discussion point between La Verne, San Dimas, and possibly County to prevent gaps.

This area is cut-off from the balance of La Verne. Plan should identify a low-stress connector as part of the proposed network.

City maintained access point. Provides access to the park, and safe alternative to Foothill / Baseline Line intersection for connecting to the balance of La Verne. The current configuration has confusing gate and barriers, preventing use by bicycles, strollers, wagons, etc. Needs improvement.

Although not within La Verne, this should be identified as a point where La Verne, Claremont and County need to work together to address a gap. La Verne should be willing to initiate the discussion.

Buffering should not end here but should be continued as far as possible down Esperanza. Very wide road widths, high vehicle speeds on the curving road. Cyclists are also entering/exiting roadway onto Marshall Canyon Trail crosses this road.

Much of this section should be Class II - buffered where feasible, especially on curves. Very wide roadwidths along some sections.

  13. March 22 2019

This section should be shown as a Class III as it the route the City recommends (and has posted signs) between parking and the trail entrance. Deignating this as a Class III will increase the chance it is picked up by Googlemaps, further encouraging out of town users to utilize the off street parking / connector.

The existing conditions identified an existing trail around the reservoir. Although this is not known to exist, this would be an excellent, safe carefree option. It is recognized this would require coordination with the water district, but should be on the list to explore as a future recreational opportunity.

Access trail was created as when this development was put in place, however has since fallen into disrepair. Clear ownership for maintenance needs to be established. This is a common access point to the trail, and most access the trail via several "informal" trails. Consider adding a sign at the correct trail along the development.

Curb cuts needed here. This is the connector trail between City recommended parking area (Oak Mesa), and Marshall Canyon Trail Head. Entry onto the connector trail is blocked by a curb.

Consider a road diet on Wheeler above Baseline. Road connects to a single lane road at the top, making double lanes unnecessary. Validate that traffic volume justifies the number of current lanes and width. The reconfigured road would be safer for all users, much safer/enjoyable for residence and raise property values along road.

This section should be designated as a Class III or Class II route. Based on recent traffic studies and counts, San Dimas found that 5-8% of traffic on this road is bicyclists. They will be adding Bikes May Use Full Lane, removing "Botts Dotts", and holding the 25 mph due to the volume of bicycle traffic.
