    Egan Avenue Pedestrian Improvements

Continue this route to BLuebell park

  2. March 04 2021

Path connection to get to Birch Hill and to sourdough from the Farmer's loop path. Biking to Tesoro for ice cream or snacks is fun, except for the last quarter mile here.

    Chena Pump Road Crossing

I would love to see an underpass-- a tunnel that goes under Chena Pump road and comes out at the cleared area in the Chinook Conservation Park. That wouldn't disrupt traffic, since Chena Pump Rd. is an important commuter road, and bikes and pedestrians wouldn't have to wait for a light to change to cross the street.

  4. March 04 2021

Ballaine Road Bicycle Corridor: Yankovich Road-Goldstream Road

PArking/trailhead should be moved north to the trail crossing.

  5. March 04 2021

This area floods seasonally. Need drainage improvements. City piling snow at the park access does not help.

  8. March 04 2021

Nelson Road Bicycle and Pedestrian Facility

The Nelson Rd path will serve to connect to the the Hurst Rd and other paths directly to the Plack Rd entrance to Chena Lake

  9. March 04 2021

Path into Chena Lake needs to include this section of Plack which has no facilities.

  10. March 04 2021

    Chena Pump Road Crossing

There are very limited safe ways to cross Chena Pump Road, with the only options being some pretty unfriendly crossings near Justa Store. Bike connections from Chena Ridge to town are essentially non-existent. A bike-friendly connection between the Chena Ridge and UWest neighborhoods would do a lot to encourage bike travel (especially by kids) between these two areas.

  11. March 04 2021

Riding (and driving) on W Trainor Gate is a nightmare. Pedestrian and bike routes and crossings need upgrading, especially if huge puddles persist near the Ken's Garage area of the Steese bike path (causing bikes and pedestrians to go around).

  12. March 04 2021

Some portions of the Steese bike path are impassable in the spring due to poor drainage. Addressing this would not be too difficult and would make a huge difference to walkers/bikers in this area.

  13. March 04 2021

It would be much easier to bike and walk into the shopping area if the sidewalk did not cross the road constantly in this very busy area. Adding path to the east side of Helmericks Ave would be a major (and fairly easy) improvement.

  14. March 04 2021

Leaving a larger shoulder (or even building small shelters) for public transit riders would make waiting for the bus much safer along Farmers Loop.

  15. March 04 2021

Periodic wintertime plowing of the Farmers loop bike path would make biking and walking much easier, especially removing some of the bulk of snow that occurs at road intersections and driveways that turn into very steep piles that can be impassable on a bike (wheels hitting the ground).

  16. March 04 2021

The Farmers Loop bike path is often rocky in the summer (especially the Eastern portion) due to the grade of the road and use of 4-wheelers and ATVs on the path and between it and the road. This makes it dangerous to ride on anything other than a mountain bike and shifts bike traffic to the road. Enforcement of non-motorized use and designating sweeping would be extremely helpful.

Peger Road: Chena River – Airport Way

Even more important (should be high priority) is making sure the underpass on the south side of the river is passable. This is frequently flooded and leads to dangerous bike/ped crossings of Peger road.

  18. March 04 2021

Phillips Field Road: Peger Road–Illinois Street

The reason for moving the road toward the river is very unclear. I think the location is nice and direct now as a route from downtown/University West, but needs *major* improvement to make this more bike and pedestrian friendly. Riding on the shoulder is terrifying. Once this is done, the planned path on the North side of the river will not be needed (at least for commuting purposes).

  19. March 04 2021

Chena River Walk Stage III—Segment 1

In theory this path will be nice, but this section of the river is often fairly flooded in high water periods and it is concerning to remove greenery that helps reduce the extent of flooding to create a path that is basically a redundancy to that on the south side. Depending on the location of this path, upkeep may be pricey due to flood damage.

  20. March 02 2021

Phillips Field Road: Peger Road–Illinois Street

I would like Phillips Field Rd to be High Priority, not medium. This road could be the most direct/best way to get from the university area to downtown, but it is so unsafe right now with big trucks and no shoulder. It needs a separate pedestrian/bike path. As it is, going from Johansen to Peger to Airport to downtown is neither pleasant nor as direct as Phillips Field would be. It would help tie west and east sides of town together. There are also many businesses on Phillips Field itself that would be nice to access safely by bike!

    Peede Road Bicycle Facilities

As with other comment, Peede is pretty safe - wide. But _Holmes_ is a nightmare on a bike: narrow, and cars doing 45 0r 50. In the winter when the Badger cycle path is not plowed, Holmes is the main way to get to Fairbanks, via Wainwright's Badger Gate. Widening Holmes would help a lot.

  22. March 02 2021

    Peede Road Bicycle Facilities

This would be good, but the road is wide and not too scary on a bike. BUT... the section of Nordale south of Peede _is_ scary - narrow in winter and cars going 50. This is the route to the closest bus stop from that intersection.

  23. March 02 2021

Richardson Highway MP 356–362 Bicycle/Pedestrian Path

For me this is the highest priority of all. Since Wainwright closed bike access due to Covid there is no way to cycle from Badger area to town except on the highway, which is dangerous and not fun. A cycle path on the north side of the Rich would be great. Thanks!

  24. March 01 2021

Thank you for this! The sidewalks on both sides of Airport and Cushman are narrow and not wide enough for a bike and pedestrian to pass each other. The entire section from Gillam to the Steese could be improved (north and south sides of the road).

  25. March 01 2021

Crossing Lathrop from the bike/ped path to the frontage road is awkward, not intuitive, and dangerous. I would like to see it rerouted to cross at the intersection (where vehicles are more used to seeing a crosswalk), or add some pedestrian crossing lights like the ones across from the library.
