The bend in the road at this intersection is frightening. Often it seems like there is about to be a head on collision and larger vehicles have a hard time navigating it. I realize its intention is to "slow down" traffic but it seems to cause more problems. Could this be redesigned and a stop light be added or speed bumps? A turning lane?

This is a dangerous intersection but I do not believe Look street should be made into a one way. What we need here is a way to improve traffic flow. I would suggest a stop light, a four way stop, or a roundabout. I would also encourage bicyclists to avoid this intersection and take back roads instead. Perhaps a bike route could be identified through the neighborhood? Lastly, I think a ban on large trucks over 40-50 feet island wide would help with safety overall and congestion. IT would also free up space on our boats.

The top of Curtis Lane in Edgartown is a complete hazard at all times. The traffic of people going in & out of the Great harbor Market, pulling into the gas station to wait for gas & walkers/bikers passing by …. It’s completely unsafe. Many times trucks have completely blocked the top of the street making it very difficult to enter or exit Curtis Lane. The oddly placed telephone pole as well doesn’t help the situation. Something must be done to help traffic flow & parking for the market & proper gas station pull up. It’s a complete nightmare in the summer & an accident waiting to happen. I have had many close calls myself when driving in & out of the street. Please consider putting this project at the top of your list to improve unsafe areas on the island!

Traveling SE in my car or on my bicycle, I have had near misses from cars traveling NE on School St. The hedges are too high, and completely obstruct the view of drivers from seeing who's coming.
-
I have had multiple near misses traveling SE on my bicycle, almost getting hit by cars traveling NE on Peases Point Way, but who do not respect the stop sign, and/or don't see me coming

I am very concerned about the congestion and parking at this intersection. There are a number of cars and trucks parked outside of the market all the way up the roadway - even it if it marked as no parking. This has generated unsafe areas with little to no space for walkers, bikers and lots of traffic congestion. Addtionally, the placement of the telephone polls at the intersection make it difficult for cars to navigate the turn here.

A way should be explored to limit the traffic level utilizing Causeway Rd. This winding residential road is used as a speedy short-cut from VH to Edgartown Rd creating hazards for pedestrians, cyclists and local residents. Consider making the State Rd to Macs Land portion a one-way section to stop thru-traffic.

Build a proper bike path for the length of Skiff Avenue rather than the current bike lane. The road has become increasingly dangerous for cyclists due to the high traffic volume and high traffic speeds. This is the main bike link from the ferry to the Edgartown Rd bike path and the constant traffic has made the bike lane unsafe for cyclists.
-
This a very dangerous road to bike on, and this corner is especially nerve wracking. The road is narrow and there needs to be a paved bike path to protect the bike rider.
-
The lighting at this blind corner is non-existent. The street light positioned there is permanently broken. This is a 90 degree corner with no mirror for on-coming traffic. The side walk is inaccessible creating a risk for both vehicles and pedestrians.
-
Skiff Road has become a high-traffic cut through road from/to VH. Attempts to limit traffic speed have been unsuccessful and we have witnessed several vehicle accidents and multiple near misses. The on street parking further exacerbates the risks for cars and pedestrians and for bikes using the bike route along Skiff Ave. A way to reduce the heavy traffic load and reduce the associated safety issues is needed; eg. speed bumps, limited access

Causeway Road has become increasingly busy as a traffic cut through from Edgartown Road to the ferry. This is the main bike route to the bike path and parking of cars and trucks is creating a safety issue with the increase in traffic. Causeway Roads needs to be a no street parking road to provide safe access for cyclists away from the main roads.
-
There should not be overnight parking on the section of Skiff - there is a bike lane on one side, and with cars on the road drivers have to cross over into the other lane to drive here - it becomes impassable for cars each way.

We have reside at 82 Skiff Ave for 4 years. The year-round traffic, vehicle speeds and bike accidents have increased year over year. Visitors leaving our home have been in car accidents on Skiff Ave. Speed bumps are needed to slow the traffic down and no cars should be allowed to park in the street. The road is extremely narrow when cars are parked and vehicles are moving in each direction. Skiff is also the bike route from the ferry and 5 corners to the bike path. I have helped or witnessed 3 bicycle accidents and 2 car crashes in just 4 years.

Causeway Street is a narrow winding and hilly road. It does not have a sidewalk one side of the yellow line is 9'- 3" and 14' feet wide on the other side. This road is a very busy cut through street from Skiff to the ferry and town. Trucks park on this road 24 hours a day. Causeway St is part of the bike route to the Bike Path. Cat Hollow subdivision is proposed to add 7 dwellings, 22 bedrooms and 44 new residents on 25 Lobster Alley Road with zero street frontage. Cat Hollow developers should be required to build a a 30 foot wide road into the 22 bedroom subdivision. Public safety on Causeway Road should be addressed. Street parking should not allowed. Edu Comp building is also being developed to include 22 bedrooms or an additional 44 residents. The impact of the increase traffic and parking required to accommodate Cat Hollow and Edu Comp developments should be considered when reviewing public safety.

The corner of Fuller and Morse is dangerous...Driving on Morse from Water towards Pease Point, drivers coming from Fuller frequently just pull out...because of shrubbery, drivers on Morse can't see Fuller drivers and vice versa...I've had many near accidents there, even when I'm going slowly...especially bad for bikers on Fuller who don't stop/slow down and just move right onto Morse...

State Rd thru Chilmark is a popular bike route to Aquinnah but the road is too narrow without shoulders. Please install bike path shoulders. Are bike injuries and death acceptable?

Cross to get to walking path and mailboxes

Making a left turn out of Mayflower Lane can be treacherous. Trucks coming from West Tisbury oftentimes speed giving their drivers shorter distances to slow or stop to avoid hitting cars exiting Mayflower Lane.A blinking yellow light would the least one can do to warn of the turning traffic. Slow dangerous intersection signs may also be warranted.
-
Extremely dangerous to cross here, but it is the connection point between Tisbury Meadow and both (a) Mayflower Lane, and (b) hiking trails off or Deer Hill Rd. and Red Coat Hill Rd. Also there are mailboxes on the Meadow side. Cars come very fast and there are blind spots.

The amount of traffic caused by the gas station/ great harbor market has been steadily increasing for years. Curtis Lane is a 20' wide road, the business' parking spots are in the road and cut down travel to one lane. The size of the vehicles parking in the road has grown as well, landscape dump trucks with trailers regularly block lanes of travel. Admittedly, many people are in and out in 10 minutes but it is a CONSTANT rotation of people in and out and parking in the road for 10 minutes at a time, so for them, it's quick but for those of us who live on Curtis, it's constant during breakfast and lunch. At times, emergency vehicles have been held up in the traffic. People also wait in line for gas by blocking the entire exit of Curtis Lane. Concerned citizens have called the town and report blockages to the Police regularly. At the Town level there seems to be confusion as to whether it is a Highway issue or a Select Board Issue. If this were a street further downtown, the illegal parking in the street would not be tolerated, we hope that there can be a solution to this issue.

When making a left turn from Pine Tree onto State Road, it's very difficult to see cars to the left heading up-island as many drive much, much faster than the speed limit. I've almost been hit multiple times when making a left turn.
-
i've almost been hit multiple times when crossing the crosswalk here. A friend was also rear-ended here when making a turn. Cars and trucks especially, drive very quickly on this stretch and do not seem prepared to stop or slow down.
-
MULTIPLE car accidents in front of our development. DESPERATELY need blinking light to slow down and cross walk to meadow for bikers, walkers, and residents. There has been NUMEROUS accidents over the course of the last 5 years. In addition my son while in HS was almost hit waiting for the bus several times. There are still children attending MVRHS that take the bus in our development and it is dangerous. In a perfectly funded world we could have a sidewalk all the way to the overlook.

This turn is so tight and narrow and so risky on foot/bike, especially with kids/or older people who are less nimble. I'd love to have either speed bumps before and after it or a flashing light that one could press indicating a pedestrian/bicyclist is actively coming. We walk it often doing the ice house pond loop and/or walking to Lamberts Cove beach and cars seriously fly down LC road despite the 25 mph speed limit (we are in a house that can see the street and a number of people really do go fast!)
