MULTIPLE car accidents in front of our development. DESPERATELY need blinking light to slow down and cross walk to meadow for bikers, walkers, and residents. There has been NUMEROUS accidents over the course of the last 5 years. In addition my son while in HS was almost hit waiting for the bus several times. There are still children attending MVRHS that take the bus in our development and it is dangerous. In a perfectly funded world we could have a sidewalk all the way to the overlook.
This turn is so tight and narrow and so risky on foot/bike, especially with kids/or older people who are less nimble. I'd love to have either speed bumps before and after it or a flashing light that one could press indicating a pedestrian/bicyclist is actively coming. We walk it often doing the ice house pond loop and/or walking to Lamberts Cove beach and cars seriously fly down LC road despite the 25 mph speed limit (we are in a house that can see the street and a number of people really do go fast!)
Could we put speed bumps by Seth's Pond? Trucks coming to and from Cottles and cars often FLY by here and a number of kids cross the street to use that pond regularly
You could really impre the Look St , State Rd and EDG-VH road intersection by making Look St a one way road from State Rd going towards Spring St. Tisbury would gain valuable additional parking if you made Look St a one way road as well because you wouldn't need 2 lanes of traffic anymore. But having vehicles pull out onto State Rd from Look St slows things down and is dangerous. You could reduce a lot of congestion in that area by making it a one way road. Especially in the winter when the road is icy, it is dangerous for vehicles to come to a stop as well.
Increased traffic from vehicles and construction/landscape trucks block access between Upper Main Street and Curtis Lane. This creates blind spots for pedestrians and bikes. The Upper Main Stree cross walk phases out across Great Harbor Market so pedestrians/bikers are forced to cut through the Great Harbor gas station/parking lot. The existing telephone pole and lack of street markings creates confusion for drivers for the designation of the street and parking lot. This location is a safety concern for walking, biking and driving. I have seen instances where 4 vehicles will be turning out of Curtis Lane and Great Harbor at the same time. It's dangerous on Curtis Lane and Upper Main Street. Also, because of the congestion and poor traffic flow through Great Harbor Market, many vehicles are pushed done Curis Lane to park or turn around creating a nuisance and erosion to our driveways.
No SUP from VH all the way to downtown OB
Incomplete SUP from OB to ED
No SUP or directions from County Rd/Wing Rd intersection east towards downtown OB.
End of SUPs entering downtown ED hard to follow and not wide enough. Nice set of bike racks, but no directions to get to town. Near the info/bus station though.
Intersection at County and ED-VH Rd to warn or light at night/dusk
5 Corners intersection is OK since there are many pedestrians crossing there and bikes can follow
Not enough bike racks near downtown VH
Insufficient directions on Skiff to downtown VH
Insufficient warning of crosswalk of VH-ED Rd at Skiff Rd intersection
Insufficient bike racks at north end of Ocean Park and no directions for cyclists to Circuit Ave (they ride west, wrong way, on Lake Ave).
End of bike path approaching OB has insufficient markings or warnings of crosswalks or continuation of path to Ocean Park or ferries.
The sidewalks are very narrow (and uneven bricks) along this stretch between the SUP to the west and Pease's Point Way where bikes turn. People biking on this stretch of Main Street have to either ride on the very narrow sidewalk, conflicting with pedestrians, or in the road, which they may not feel safe doing especially with children. People don't consistently do the same thing which shows they don't really know what to do. There needs to be a clear bike space delineated of some kind in this area.
This intersection has poor visibility for drivers, and has no safe way for pedestrians to cross.
The shoulder along State Road heading from Old County Road into Vineyard Haven (Tisbury) is rutted, non-existent at points and dangerous for cyclists. It should be repaved and widened on this busy trafficked stretch of road.
This intersection could use some signage/flashing yellow caution to make drivers/cyclists aware the oncoming traffic at this intersection
The SUP in the section--between Edgartown and Oak Bluffs--is poor shape and is hazardous.
There are street marking directing cyclists to stay on Barnes Road heading south, when, instead, they should be direct to the adjacent SUP that runs next to Barnes Road
There is a sign directing cyclists to Edgartown Road, yet there is no bike land and the road is especially narrow and dangerous in this first section of Edgartown Road.
The SUP, just before it crosses over to the south side of Edgartown-West Tisbury Road, is filled with frost heaves and other hazardous conditions.
The road from here to Aquinnah is so narrow, and has such poor sight lines, that it creates a dangerous situation when cars wish to pass a cyclist.
