Vehicles do not always appropriately yield to crosswalk users when making a right turn on a red light at this intersection. There is alot of stop and go or no stopping at all which makes it very unsafe crossing in the crosswalk! Also, not enough safe places to cross 36th St between Taft and State St besides Sunset Ave.

I would like to see a sky walk across State street for the kids going to Taft Elementary and for those going to the park.
-
There are often goathead thorns that puncture bike tires along the bike path in front of the paint store near Taft, on the N side of State.
-
A bike or pedestrian path from Plum to Sunset would help as an alternative to having to ride/walk against traffic on N State.
-
I cross State at Lander 2-3x a week on foot or bike. A pedestrian signal would be helpful.
-
It is very hard to turn left from State onto Mercer because traffic backs up from the traffic lights at the intersection of State and Veteran's.
-
I frequently take the bus to work and when returning home, I get off the bus at this stop. I live south of State and west of Veteran's Pkwy so I must cross this intersection both ways (across 36th/Veteran's and State). It is not easy to cross in either direction because of cars making right turns. Perhaps a right turn traffic light would be helpful, particularly at the SW corner where cars turn right unto Veteran's from State.
-
Entering State St. from Lander St. is often dangerous due to traffic. It would be good to have an alternate route out of this neighborhood via a stoplight.

Very unsafe for kids and others who useon 36th because of the way the side roads intersect with 36th. There have been many changes to this street over the [past 54 years--and still isn't safe for walkers , bikers or drivers.Perhaps there should be a side road along the 36th street for the kids especially

To avoid this intersection after shopping at Albertsons, we use the road in front of Taft Elementary to continue west on State street.
-
I would gladly ride my bike to work downtown if the route along State Street was more bicycle friendly. The shoulder is much too narrow.
-
If a designated right turn were created from 36th going onto State, it would be nice to close Anderson off as cars are always blindly zipping across 36th to go north or go into Albertsons.
-
Even though signage states that you are not to turn into Starbucks from Veterans, people do it all the time and cars behind them are not expecting to stop right after turning or crossing the intersection. Maybe Starbucks exit could be curved to where you could enter, only exit.

Biking and walking through this intersection is very dangerous. Motorist often cut off Anderson to avoid the intersection, while others are using the Albertsons/Wendy's entryway directly across 36th...add 6 lanes of traffic on a curving street and it is a disaster. Using this intersection could reduce my bike commute time significantly, but the risk of being hit is too great. To access the Greenbelt via bike, I travel out of my way west to cross State Street at Willow Lane. I frequently avoid this intersection when driving a car simply because there are too many things to look our for. I have seen too many bikes and pedestrians nearly hit.

I ride my bike on State from Gary to downtown. Along this canal, there is very little shoulder and no bike lane. It feels dangerous along here.

36th St State St and Veterans Memorial Parkway intersection is a dangerous intersection for Pedestrians!
Vehicles do not watch for people crossing the street. -
This whole area is problematic for both human powered users and drivers. The Terry Rielly signage make safe left turns onto 36th from Taft Elementary (a common route for parents) very unsafe; cars traveling at high speeds into the Albertson's parking lot make walking/biking here very dangerous and the route into Wendy's causes similar problems. Shifting the entry to Albertsons further back on 36th to the existing side street that is seldom used for anything else might be helpful. Residents who live north of State have limited safe access routes to Veteran's Park and the Greenbelt, yet it is a valuable resource for these same residents...a pedestrian bike bridge over State in this area would be wonderful.

A right turn lane onto State street from the north side of 36th would be very valuable.
-
I would like to see a dedicated right turn lane from N. 36th on to State Street. And a bridge for kids to cross over State to get to Taft Elementary School. This would be a good use for everyone not wanting to use the busy intersection crosswalk. And a bike lane at N. 36th & State.
-
please consider walking and biking needs at this intersection

Are school age children are expected to use Sunset or State to cross here?
-
Love the paths here. Not sure if the human powered users are informed that they can get from here to the north side of state or hill road. Signs would be excellent.
