Comments for “Martha's Vineyard Comprehensive Safety Action Plan”

From where Clevelandtown Rd becomes Meshacket Rd to Edgartown-West Tisbury Rd walking, running and biking are unsafe. Further, traffic exceeds the speed limit. A sidewalk and/or bike path is needed.
-
the stretch from the Grange Hall up island is difficult to walk. ie dangerous to walk to Yoga Barn or Grey Barn. there is no shoulder and incline / brush make the walk challenging
-
crossing EVH road from the bike path to Felix Neck is difficult due to the amount and speed of the vehicles.
-
Crossing the roundabout is challenging. you are in the car's blindspot as the go around and the vehicles that stop for bicylists to cross are in danger of being rear-ended which could push them into the crossing biker.
-
speeding cars coming around blind corner where folks are exiting campground parking lot creates dangerous situation
-
no speed enforcement
-
I completed this survey before but want to be sure that the important spot for safety is pinpointed at the bridge and the stretch of road from the top of the bridge to the bend in the road. Please note that the speed limit over the bridge is 40mph. The opposite direction from the bend is 35mph, both way to high for this congested area near the beach and the hospital.

Need a light activated pedestrian crossing from Sea Glenn bus stop side to Bayes Norton Farm bus stop, across Vineyard Have n/Edgartown Road. Very dangerous.
-
Cyclists and walkers from the Chappy Ferry to Dike Bridge are in constant danger on the curvy, hilly, and tight Chappaquiddick Rd.
-
This intersection in the summer is extremely dangerous. I don't think cars realize that they're crossing through a bike path. They speed out/into the parking lot without looking out for biker/walkers.
-
Many people use this road to connect to the Katama bike path and it's too narrow for bikes, cars, and walkers. There should either be signs pointing people to use a different way to connect to the Katama bike path or this bike path should be wider.
-
There's no sidewalk that connects Upper Main Street to the sidewalk on Pinehurst. This area of Pinehurst has a lot of foot traffic and the road is very narrow and unsafe to walk along.
-
People drive extremely fast down Pinehurst.
-
This intersection can be very dangerous. A number of drivers use the right side to turn left where other cars also are turning left. I have almost hit several cars doing this.
-
The intersection of State Road and ED-VH Road is a hazard and needs a traffic light.
-
Road too narrow. Cars to fast. Many near misses
-
Cars turning left going toward Oak Bluffs crossing the bike path
-
Tricky entrance onto Middle Road heading northeast, motor vehicles coming from Chilmark traveling too fast
-
Very tricky for a northbound cyclist to make a left turn onto Lamberts Cove Road, traffic is heavy and fast
-
Riding on the bike path, especially headed north in the opposite direction to adjacent roadway traffic, is dangerous because the motor vehicle drivers don't look right before crossing the SUP and believe that they have the right of way. The Bikes Stop signs are not legal and send the wrong message.
-
Bike must stop are not legal. The stop signs should be for vehicles entering the roadway before they cross the bike path. Motor vehicle drivers always believe they have th right of way. All SUPs along roads where feeder roads or driveways cross the SUP are dangerous for cyclists riding in the direction opposite to the adjacent traffic on the road, because entering drivers don't look right before they pull out.
-
Roundabout is a great improvement for motor vehicle flow but is more dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians.
-
SUP is in poor condition with major transverse cracks
-
SUP is in poor condition for cycling
-
This intersection is dangerous for any vehicle, especially slower ones like bikes. Motor vehicles coming from West Tisbury headed north are going too fast and sight lines are minimal.
