Community Requests - San Simeon Intersections: The most pressing issue with the Vista Del Mar & Highway 1 intersection is lack of traffic safety. The majority of drivers on Highway 1 are not aware of the intersection until they drive past it. Additionally, a driver may not have full view of Highway 1 until they reach the corner on Pico Avenue. Pedestrians and vehicles cross Highway 1 for ocean access and just as frequently cross east for the shops/restaurants. There are significant risks during busy traffic periods on Highway 1 with regards to pedestrian safety during crossings. Requested improvements:
1. Blinking caution signs to provide warning of the intersection.
2. A striped and signed pedestrian walkway with warning signs on each side.
3. Yellow caution lights on signs triggered by pedestrians that warn pedestrians that vehicles do not stop.
Community Requests - San Simeon Intersections: 1. Left/Right turn lanes all directions.
2. Pedestrian striped walkways.
3. Turn signals triggered by pedestrian crossing buttons and vehicle detection magnetic fields on Pico Avenue.
Community Requests - Cambria Walkway Improvements: Provide a safe Highway 1 crossing connecting Fiscalini West Ranch to East Ranch, either through traffic control measures, or an improved multipurpose trail under the Santa Rosa Creek bridge. Currently Cambria residents and visitors cannot walk from the West Ranch trails to the East Ranch trails into town without crossing Highway 1 at an uncontrolled intersection.
Community Requests - Cambria Walkway Improvements: Ardath Drive & Main Street Section A.
Students of the Cambria Grammar School are typically transported by car and bus because there are no safe areas to walk for that age group along this path with sufficient separation from vehicles. Although few children from grades 1-5 are expected to use this path with upgraded protection, there are adult pedestrians in the Cambria Community who should also have a safe walkway here. Caltrans has installed crosswalk buttons for this intersection, but there is no curb that sufficiently separates pedestrians from traffic for right hand turns going north onto Main Street or south from Ardath Drive. Request entails implementing a flat graveled surface about 4 ft. wide above the curb on Ardath Drive and 4 ft. of walkway space on Main Street to the Cambria Grammar School sidewalk.
Community Requests - Cambria Walkway Improvements: Ardath Drive & Main Street Section B.

Community Requests - Cambria Walkway Improvements: Pave Rodeo Grounds Road from Burton Drive to the parking lot to enable access to our Community Park and CCSD facilities in all weather conditions.
Community Requests - Cambria Intersection Improvements: Lower Burton Drive. This is the primary route for Santa Lucia Middle School students to walk to the East Village, is generally overgrown with weeds and is not a safe pedestrian pathway along this busy road. This is also an essential pedestrian pathway for a large swath of Cambria residents as well as visitors staying at the Cambria Pines Lodge. Request entails providing a safe walking path from Burton Drive and Eton Road to Village Lane.
Community Requests - Cambria Walkway Improvements: Burton Drive Section C. Currently, vegetation encloses the walkway on the south side of Hwy. 1 during Spring of each year for about 2-3 months forcing people out into the street to stay out of the poison oak. The north side of Hwy. 1 is a short section that drains into the existing grooved path during the rainy season which also causes pedestrians to move out into the street with traffic. The curbs are not useful for pedestrians although they provide direct drainage and keep cars off the path. Request entails creating a 5-6 ft. walkway along the curb line. Vegetation control might be best accomplished by making this a concrete walkway to control vegetation growing through the medium. A marked crosswalk is needed at the pedestrian crossing on Wilton Drive as well.

Community Requests - Cambria Walkway Improvements: The sidewalk along Windsor Boulevard is developed to complement existing structure and Hwy. 1 positioning. This means that only one side of Windsor Boulevard is designated as a walkway. The current conditions of Windsor Boulevard sidewalks include uneven ground levels, prevalent potholes which hold water, and tripping hazards due to the curb. Request entails leveling the existing pathway with packed gravel to a distance of 6 ft from the top edge of the existing curb.
Community Requests - Cambria Walkway Improvements: Weymouth St A. On busy days, this street is used for parking since it is wide from Hwy 1 to the residential area. Because of the busy access at this intersection and speed of cars exiting onto Weymouth headed west, pedestrians are forced to the curbside and up into the wooded edge to walk safely. Using this path is especially difficult with wheeled carts. Request entails installing stripes for parking and a 5 ft. pedestrian access path on the south side of Weymouth Street.
