Look at widening the underpass. Another lane would really help alleviate the bottleneck.

  2. September 01 2013

This has become a huge bottleneck for the area. Possibly eliminate the Northbound 101 entrance so traffic can flow in both directions thru the intersection at the same time (cars making a right from southbound branch and cars making a left from northbound brisco).

  3. August 29 2013

Please invest in expanded bus service and bike/ ped trails instead of in more freeway infrastructure. We need ways to move people, and cars are the noisiest, dirtiest, most expensive, destructive, and isolating way to do that. If you build more freeway capacity, yes, it will be used; but if you build more public transit and pedestrian capacity, THAT will be used instead, and it will be much healthier!

Bello bridge project in PB. Current plan connects Price Canyon to Bello (S) over new bridge to Frady that gives access to 1. Recommend access road from bridge to James way which allows local residents off 101 and the nerve racking on off ramp along the Pismo Beach corridor.

  5. August 29 2013

This may not be a 101-corridor issue, but the reluctance of drivers to accelerate to highway speed as they merge onto 101 at the SB Spring St. onramp constantly causes major jam-ups. People need to get moving to at least 60 by the time they start to merge, but they don't seem willing to do so.

  6. August 29 2013

I can only add to the comment about the Rosario onramp: insufficient length to allow traffic to come up to a reasonable speed before merging.

  7. August 29 2013

Need 3 lanes both directions from Paso Robles to Santa Maria

  8. August 29 2013

Longer start lanes on NB and SB for El Campo' 'suicide' left turns

  9. August 29 2013

Please continue the new southbound right-hand lane to Spyglass exit. This should have been done before.

  10. August 29 2013

South bound traffic on W. Branch turn right even on red, often without stopping. North bound traffic gets the green arrow. This causes many close calls. A "No Right on Red" would help.

  11. August 28 2013

Create a frontage road from James Way to Price Canyon so drivers moving locally from south of the Pismo Creek to north of Pismo Creek don't have to enter, and then immediately exit 101.

  12. August 28 2013

A southbound on ramp needs to be available here (or close by) so people don't have to drive all the way through Price St businesses to get back on the 101 S.

  13. August 28 2013

This is one of the major bottlenecks in SLO County. Cars stack up long distances coming south on West Branch St to Halcyon Rd and under the 101 in the tunnel. I'll leave it up to the engineers on how best to fix it, but it should be a major priority.

  14. August 28 2013

This whole interchange is a nightmare for all vehicles. Needs to be widened and or reconfigured.

  15. August 28 2013

i say quit wasting taxpayers money. maybe deal with the water shortage?

  16. August 28 2013

I think an evaluation should be performed to permanently close the SB Fair Oaks off ramp. A possible "cheap" fix would be to provide access to Fair Oaks, Orchard and AGHS through the SB Grand offramp and creating a straight through lane that uses the existing SB Grand/SB Fair Oaks merge lanes. I have lived in that area for 26 years and have experienced and witnessed and wide range of close calls and accidents associated with the current off/on ramp configuration. While closure of the SB Fair Oaks offramp would represent an inconvenience to me and others, I think the safety aspects/impacts require an evaluation.

  17. August 28 2013

This intersection has been redone twice since I have lived in the county, yet it still is a major congestion issue. The recent upgrade helped slightly at the expense of ease of traffic flow on Theatre Drive. To really solve the problem is going to require over or underpasses of the ramps with Theater Drive. Expensive, but we've probably spent almost that much doing it wrong twice. Southbound 101 exit over or under Vine so no stop for W bound 46. West 46 over Theater Drive so no stop to S 101. Straighten Theater back out again (undo the recent re-route of Theater)

  18. August 28 2013

The LOVR side of SLO needs more Regional Transit access. This would help to lighten the traffic congestion at the NB/SB access to 101 at the LOVR overpass. This would enable more individuals driving their vehicles from North County to access through service on RTA hopefully encouraging them to use public transportation. Thank you.

  19. August 28 2013

A complete overpass would be great. If not possible then add a south bound on / off at Dalidio Drive.

  20. August 14 2013

Need secure guardrail along freeway to keep traffic on freeway and off shell Beach Rd- safety for bicyclists, walkers and drivers on sb rd

Climbing lane may have looked good on paper but it is time to re-evaluate what is happening taking driver behavior into consideration. The climbing lane is more frequently being used as a passing lane as slow vehicles do not move over to the #3 lane. During my commute, I regularly count 10-15% of the traffic in the #2 lane exiting at Spyglass. Taking both considerations into mind it makes sense to extend the #3 lane to Spyglass to help aleviate some of the congestion we experience daily in the merge area.

Alternatively, since the #3 is essentially being used as a passing lane you could also restripe the lanes so that the added lane is on the median side so that it is a true passing lane on the left instead of a climbing lane on the right. The slower drivers tend to be passive and do not move over whereas the faster drivers are more aggressive and would have a tendency to move left into the passing lane. This would then help reduce the current conflicts of lane reduction merge and exit merge in such a short distance (traffic from #1 and #3 trying to get into the #2). Instead you would have the majority of the lane chages being movement to the lane to right to either merge at the lane drop or to exit.

  22. July 23 2013

NB on ramp should be closed. Merging traffic creates a significant amount of congestion due to the weaving with the following off ramp. NB AM commutes are a nightmare through here. Very little inconvenience for those who normally use this ramp for the greater safety of all the users of the highway. A few vocal residents should not dictate what happens to this ramp as this is an inter-regional route and all users need to be considered.

  23. July 23 2013

The SB off ramp is highly congested in the morning commute due to the AGHS traffic. This may be relatively short in duration however it creates a high potential of accidents with the movements of the Grand on ramp traffic weaving with the off ramp traffic and the ramp traffic backed up through the aux lane. Need to realign the off ramp with the Orchard Ave and signalize the intersection of the off ramp/ Fair Oaks / Orchard.

  24. July 23 2013

Los Osos Valley Road (LOVR) is a nightmare for cyclist and pedestrians from Calle Joaquin south through the on and off ramp intersections and the bridge over 101 -and- south to S Higuera ST.
The many on and off ramps along this section of 101 are cramed too close together. Cyclist south bound on LOVR have a very dangerous series of manovers to make to travel this section of LOVR through the intersections of the bridge and the multiple on and off ramp intersections to get to to Higuera St.

Cycling south and north bound through this section is a nightmare and a safety hazard. The Bike lanes (Classs II) are not clearly delineated and are discontinuous and confusing for both vehicle drivers and the cyclist. Cross walks are lacking or non-existent.

  25. July 23 2013

The city of SLO and Caltrans should complete the bike trail (Class 1 bike facility) connections at the north end of the Madonna Inn Bike trail.. The access on and off the bike trail is a design faul up and needs a safe clear Class I on facility so as to allow families with cyclists to gain access to and from Higurea and Marsh streets. It is non logical or safe design to access the trail via a high speed on ramp or to cross both an on and off ramps to get to Marsh street.
