Comments for “Capitol Blvd Concept”
-
The sidewalk is wide enough along this study area to continue the striping already in place on the Federal Way sidewalk such that one side of the stripe can be designated for bicyclists and the other for pedestrians.
-
Create a way to cross in the middle here so that students don't have to jay walk or walk a great distance to the nearest intersection to cross.
-
Consider reducing CB lane width to allow more space for pedestrian and bicycle use.
The current road system was built for cars and the Boulevard is now an active pedestrian, bike, and bus system. Need to design Capitol for all modes of transportation.

Sorry, parking in Ann Morrison should be limited to park use or 2hr zone.
Free parking encourages driving and we need to encourage all forms of transportation for Capitol Boulevard. -
Continue to improve sidewalk system along Boise Avenue connecting into Cap. Blvd.
-
Do not lose the attractive period landscaping (forsythia, lilac, syringa, etc) along west side of Capitol from Elmer's to Depot. If sidewalks are set back in this area, transplant and plant new period shrubs.
-
Provide special attention to design, location and number of traffic signals, poles etc. for the proposed Royal Blvd. Intersection on CB.
Any improvement to Capital Blvd. must complement the cities ceremonial entrance not detract from it. -

Consider setting sidewalk away from Federal way curb. Could realign street to utilize a small portion of railroad r-o-w to create more space for setback.
-
CB bridge pylon lanterns are most attractive and should be lit as originally designed. These unique lights were not addresses in the recent bridge light upgrade.
-
The CB/University intersection is operating poorly. Traffic waits long intervals for a green light. Pedestrian crossing of CB should be expanded and possibly on both sides of University crossing CB.
-
Consider expanded bus service (possibly free) and stops north and south on Capitol Blvd. and 9th St.
-
Expand number and increase headway of BSU shuttles to reduce pedestrian conflicts.
-
Reduce speed limit from 40 mph to 35 driving west on Federal Way. Traffic often speeds up to make the Federal Way/Vista signal. This results in trucks and cars speeding down Capitol creating safety hazards.
-
Create pedestrian connection from this active commercial, hotel, and residential area directly into Ann Morrison Park.
-
Set sidewalk back from curb and wide enough to accommodate both bikes and ped.
-
Improve sidewalks and bike lanes into Ann Morrison Park. Pedestrians are currently forced to walk in the street at entrance to Ann Morrison Park
-
At all controlled intersections, a merge lane needs to be installed between the bike and right side auto lanes. Bikes are hard to see when they are coming from behind and this would prevent right-hand turning autos from turning into cyclists. Cyclists need to follow traffic signals to keep them safe.
-
Bikes often go directly from the sidewalk too the roadway without looking. Very dangerous. The law needs to be changed so bikes follow same laws as vehicles for the riders safety

To reiterate most comments: the sidewalk on Crescent Rim is stunningly insignificant for it's use and potential. We need something that accommodates bikes going both ways and the pedestrian traffic. This should be curb separated and off-street. Best recommendation is a three lane path for 1) northbound bikes, 2) southbound bikes, and 3) pedestrians. Any solution should also plan for the increased traffic to the depot, many more people would walk/bike there if it wasn't so frightening.

Would very much appreciate a left turn option from Federal Way onto Capitol Blvd/Vista Ave. southbound.

As a current student at BSU and Boise community member my whole life, I believe safe pedestrian and bicyclist access is extremely important for our growing university and community. I think a pedestrian bridge would make walking to/from BSU from Capitol boulevard a safe and convenient option for pedestrians and cyclists. Everyday, I walk or bike through the Capitol Blvd./University Dr. intersection and everyday I fear being hit by a car. Please help make this intersection as well as access to/from downtown safer!

The only way to 'safely' (and easily) get downtown from the depot bench is to go the wrong way down the sidewalk along Crescent Rim and Capitol. I often pull my daughter in the trailer and it's nerve racking. Make the sidewalk wider? Make a way to cross Capitol higher up on the hill? Thank you for taking this on!!

I drive the road at night and am concerned at how dark it is on the sidewalk for the pedestrians and bicyclists. I hope adequate lighting is included in any future planning.
