Forest Park Drive should have striped bike lanes.

  2. April 21 2015

The stop sign should be repositioned to Scenic Way. The majority of traffic is along U street and stopping and starting on the hill in the winter is difficult/dangerous. The curves and steepness of the hill make for slow traffic in this area so the use of the stop sign as a traffic calming device is not necessary.

Arctic Blvdth AvenueE Street Shared Road

A bike box or at least a striped lane would be useful at this intersection. For northbound(uphill) traffic, a cyclist may need to wait below the crest of the hill and not be able to make the light cycle. For both directions of traffic, there are lots of people(car and bike) turning each way on 15th. A cyclist waiting behind a truck isn't visible to oncoming traffic.

  4. April 21 2015

There needs to be a pedestrian/cyclist connection across the Seward Highway. The sidewalk is far too narrow and not maintained.

  5. April 21 2015

    10th Ave Bike Boulevard

While I like the idea of the bike boulevard along 10th, there is very limited connection to the north. I choose to ride on 9th Ave only because I can easily head north without having to transition to a sidewalk or one of the few trails that cut through. 9th is wide enough to accommodate vehicular and bike traffic.

  6. April 21 2015

This stretch on the west side of Lake Otis, between Chester Creek and the N. Lites/Lake Otis intersection, is a critical missing link. The sidewalk was newly paved between here and 15th. Chester Creek trail exits here. The teeny, tiny sidewalk on the east side of Lake Otis is crossed by driveways and does not fit pedestrians and cyclist- especially in winter. A perfect example of what "complete streets" means.

  7. April 21 2015

Bike Lane at Cordova needs to go between the "straight" and "right turn" lanes. SO dangerous when driver in lane gets a green signal and the does a right hook in front of the waiting cyclist.

  8. April 21 2015

The most important improvement I can think of is to install a pedestrian controlled crossing signal at Tudor and MacInnes. This would effectively connect Campbell and Chester Creek trails using Shelikof, Princeton Way and Maplewood. All 3 other major crossings are signalized. Also, there are bus stops on either side of Tudor here. The nearest traffic signals are too far apart from each other to "time a gap" and cross Tudor here. This is the best north/south route in the area. Less traffic than Lake Otis, for sure.

8x8 signpost is a hazard. The 1/8" thick metal stop sign itself is non-frangible and invisible to people traveling down the original path. The shortcut should be the main route. The curved portion should intersect the most direct route perpendicularly.

  10. April 21 2015

This terminus of the bike trail is covered by large berms of snow when the adjacent lot is plowed. Nobody seems to know who is responsible. A better routing would be to follow the footpath which takes the shortest route. This would avoid having the trail end right where they plow the snow.

  11. April 21 2015

The crossing of this high-speed turnout/turnin is hazardous due to a rapid change of direction towards 15th and the proximity to traffic. A hazard exists in that the trail crosses the turnout prior to the turn, before vehicles slow down. A better routing would be to have the trail go straight and cross the turnout perpendicularly.

  12. April 21 2015

This corner is tricky for a bike commuter to navigate at speed due to the sharp turns, curbs and light pole right in the line of travel going westbound.

  13. April 21 2015

Bike lane markings on Cordova have worn out years ago. As a result, drivers approach 15th turning right and use the bike lane as a turn lane. They have no way of knowing until the get right up to the light and see the sign on the crossbar.

  14. April 21 2015

This part of the trail needs to be paved after last year's reconstruct of A Street. The seep has not been fixed for the bike trail as there still are some large bumps and there was overflow this spring. Additionally, they really need to mark the bike lane as such. Last fall there were very faint bicycle symbols sketched in, but those have since faded.

  15. April 21 2015

A safe path southbound on C Street will avoid the counterflow situation as commuters head home from downtown on the A Street Bike Trail/Bike Lane. Drivers do not look both ways. Tinted windows make it very dangerous, especially in winter as eye contact is impossible.

  16. April 20 2015

    10th Ave Bike Boulevard

No traffic signal here either. Difficult to cross Gambell; I often have to go around to 9th ave to cross safely.

  17. April 20 2015

    10th Ave Bike Boulevard

No traffic signal here often forces bikes north to 9th to cross safely. Needs at least a flashing light to warn motorists of bikes crossing.

  18. April 20 2015

I believe intersections like these are considered "traffic calming" or something to that affect. They should be considered more like "unnecessarily put cyclists at risk" -- the curbs suddenly jut out at each intersection, ending the bike lane and forcing a cyclist to either try and jump onto the curb or swerve into traffic. Awful design.

  19. April 20 2015

    Pine St Shared Road

The 'bumpouts' installed for traffic calming at intersections along Pine Street need a cutout or other method for bikes to get by/through without swerving into traffic.

  20. April 20 2015

Arctic Blvdth AvenueE Street Shared Road

Many bicyclists coming south from downtown turn left onto Chester Creek trail; signage warning cars would be beneficial.

  21. April 20 2015

The existing head-in angle parking along the north side of 10th between A and I (L?) seems dangerous in conjunction with a bike boulevard, especially for commuters at regular arrival times. Will parking change to back-in angle parking?

  22. April 17 2015

Seeing I am adding comments ... I have to voice an idea. I often think a bike (trail would be amazing) connecting the ship creek trail to the chester creek trail. Then we would have this amazing circuit around downtown. Which is great for tourists wanting to do a loop, have races, and really improve access to the trails for the neighborhood of Fairview.

  23. April 17 2015

I don't quite understand why there is a stop sign on 10th and not on Eagle street. This stop sign was added a few years back. Eagle is a dead end street and 10th is a corridor. If you plan on making this a bike boulevard, this stop sign ruins the flow and should be moved.

  24. April 17 2015

I often bike this way year-round. One concern I have is the diverter at 10th & Juneau. (Well .. not this year … but…) Snow gets piled up making it really difficult to get thru that diverter.
It might be just making the snow removal team aware of this. Past years, one would need to get off their bike and walk it over the snow bank. Unlike 10th and Medfra, this sidewalk gets cleared by the sidewalk snowplow. The sidewalk snow plow does not hit 10th and Juneau St.

    Wisconsin Street Bike Lane

A bike lane has been striped on Wisconsin every year but drivers drive on the right side of the road. Every winter the studded tires wear off the striping. How can we get people to not drive in the bike lane? When I bike (where the bike lane usually is) cars drive around me and then back to the right side.
