There is a large gap between Eagle River (Highland Rd exit) and town without a Park'N'Ride area. I would love to see some of the unused space in the Tikahtnu Parking area be shared as a parking area for commuters. I believe this would encourage the more casual riders that live out of town to begin commuting via bike from Muldoon Rd.

This undercrossing and the separated pathway north to Tudor has improved my bicycle commute significantly. Thank you!

  3. May 20 2015

It would be desirable to have a shoulder or a pathway on the south side of the roadway for bicyclists traveling east bound.

  4. May 20 2015

It would be great if this trail could be extended to the west and connect to the Campbell Creek Trail.

  5. May 20 2015

There inadequate sight distance at this undercrossing, especially for bicyclists traveling downhill on the east side of the road, and then making the sharp left turn.

  6. May 20 2015

A bike lane/shoulder here would be the most efficient route out of town for cyclists. There needs to be a high-speed transition over to the Chester Creek Trail. Right now there is a curb which means you have to stop in traffic.

    Tudor Road Shoulder Striping

    totally agree!

Chickaloon has a project this year; a pedestrian/bike path bridge on the Glenn HWY.at Eska creek in Sutton for 1.7 million, also we are working with AK.Dot. to include a one for the new moose creek bridge but having issues.

As a utility cyclist and commuter, I ride Tudor from Baxter to C or Arctic on a daily basis year-round. I feel this road is an essential part of our cycling infrastructure for utility cycling and commuting from East Anchorage. It unfortunately also seems to be one of the most dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians. I think this is mainly due to extremely poor design. With wide lanes, long turn radius turns at intersections, poorly placed infrequent crossings and crossing facilities, high-speed limits (which one can likely add at least 10 mph to, to get actual speed), and little to no enforcement by APD or AST, this is essentially a dangerous through-town freeway. Driver distraction on this road is some of the worst I've ever seen. Some of the distracted driving I've seen on this road includes, drivers texting, typing (thanks APD

When the Northern Access Road connects Elmore Rd. to Bragaw St., a more direct connection will be made from the new trails to Alumni Dr. to the Goose Lake Trail and on to the Chester Creek system.

  11. May 18 2015

The private development at 4745 PIPER ST removed the pavement connecting the campbell creek trail to piper. now this connection is gravel and not ADA compliant, where it was smooth pavement before.

  12. May 12 2015

This is regularly among the most lethal intersections in Alaska. Auto speeds on Minnesota need to be reduced to no more than 35 mph. A raised pedestrian - bike bridge needs to go across 36th avenue at Minnesota.

  13. May 12 2015

There should be some kind of raised bike and pedestrian bridge over the Minnesota River, which is so fast and unsafe that it is ridiculous. Also, automobile speed limits should be reduced to 35 mph from 15th Avenue all the way to International Airport Road. This roadway is an abomination of ignorant and careless transportation infrastructure.

  14. May 12 2015

36 th Avenue is a critical East West Bike Corridor but it is currently unsafe for everyone as designed. Can't we turn it into two lanes with turn plus separated bike lanes in the plan?

  15. May 12 2015

    Hillside Drive Shoulder Striping

Please consider adding bike lanes at the shoulders. Thank you!

  16. May 08 2015

This is the worst stretch of bike trail pavement I've seen in Anchorage. Roots are terrible.

  17. May 08 2015

Mini traffic circle is a good idea in theory, but isn't used as intended, creating a dangerous sharp turn to/from the hospital area. A triangle intersection would be better, like the one at the bottom of the hill on the north side of Goose Lake Bridge over N.Lights.

  18. May 08 2015

And bad intersection for people too. The "walk" time when the crosswalk button is pressed is so short it takes two full signal cycles to cross N.L.

  19. May 08 2015

Please clear the brush on either side of this T intersection for safer sight clearance.

  20. May 07 2015

Sharrow the sections that narrows to one lane.

  21. May 06 2015

I second the above comment. 36th and Seward Highway is a major bottleneck for E-W traffic. Campbell Creek underpass alleviated some of this, but the connectivity to the north is lacking. The upcoming redesign should find a way to provide a fully separated crossing and a direct route to the Campbell Creek Trail, preferrably along the west side to leverage the existing trail to the north, the light at Tudor and low traffic roads south of Tudor.

  22. May 05 2015

A curb cut is needed at this end of the trail. The trail is in terrible condition with frost heaves. Due to the limited visibility at the West HS end, the addition of a stop sign at the end of the trail would be a good safety measure.

  23. May 03 2015

My vote is for Sharrows on Forest Park. The road is too narrow for bike lanes, and the edge is always full of gravel rocks et cetera. A few big "bicycles can use the full lane" signs and sharrows are the best bet here.

  24. May 03 2015

Reconnect the Coastal Trail. Replace this bridge w/ a temporary one to get us off the rutted, muddy dirt detour. I know folks are working on a glorious long-term solution, but for the purpose of bike and pedestrian traffic you could use 2x8's and 1/2" planking and reconnect the trail in an afternoon.

Add Sharrows to Whitney Rd, and Post Rd
