Please consider widening Roland Road to allow for bikes and pedestrian use. It is the main artery for mid-Chena Ridge folks to get to town. There is absolutely no shoulder available, which means that bikes and people are inside the white line and sharing that space with traffic. It is nerve-racking to commute on a bike during the morning and afternoon rush hours. Please consider adding a shoulder, or better yet, a dedicated bike path that connects to the Chena Pump Road bike path.

The intersection of Roland and chena pump is dangerous. Lots of traffic. A high speed limit. And icy roads make it very difficult to turn north onto chena pump from the stop sign on Roland. Often times people pull out into traffic because there is no choice. Or they fail to stop at the stop sign with fear that they won't get enough traction on the ice from a dead stop in their vehicle

The hill on East Chena Hills Drive from the intersection with West Chena Hills down to Prindle Court and Roland Road is a dangerous spot that is too narrow for passing cars and then people drive too fast, especially in the winter where cars regularly go off the road. Would be nice if something could be done to slow people down here.

Roland Road is a dangerous road that needs attention. It is the main artery for a very large neighborhood in the hills and cars regularly drive way above the posted speed limit. Having lived in the neighborhood for the last 18 years I have seen more and more people move in and more subdivisions developed and nothing done to improve Roland Road to account for the increased traffic. It is a narrow road where two cars can barely pass each other and then you add the high speeds and icy conditions of winter and it is even more dangerous. For bicyclists and pedestrians it is especially dangerous as there is no space for them and cars pass by very fast completely disregarding the bicyclists. There should definitely be a bike path or shoulder to connect to the great bike path on Chena Pump that is well suited for kids and families. Roland Road was not built in compliance with road standards and now that our neighborhood keeps getting bigger and more and more busy, it is even worse. Private properties go right up to the road without any right of way easements, so how can the road be widened? At minimum, there should be guard rails along the steep drop-offs at the top of the hill coming up to Pickering and West Chena Hills Drive; this is a basic safety issue. Similar roads in the borough that are main thoroughfares in neighborhoods and have the same amount of traffic as Roland Road have received attention from DOT or the Borough, so why not Roland Road? At some point there's going to be a major accident because of how narrow the road is and how badly people drive on it.

Roland Road is unsafe. It is too narrow and is heavily utilized. There are no shoulders and very steep drop offs. There is no guardrail or room for error. Driving down Roland in the winter is extremely dangerous, especially when there is oncoming traffic. Biking or walking is not even an option for all but the most daring. Please consider FMAT upgrades for Roland Road. We need to address this soon. As the area continues to grow there will be more and more traffic on the road and an increase in the likelihood of serious accidents.

The intersection of West and East Chena Hills Drive is dangerous. Many drivers far exceed the speed limit, coming around the bend at high speed where visibility is limited by the turn in the road. There is also no shoulder on either side, so walking or cycling means vehicles going around pedestrians and cyclists, often at a high rate of speed and where the road curves.

Roland Road experiences a high volume of traffic because of the multiple residential areas it serves. The road is narrow and has no shoulders. There are several unguarded, steep drop-offs, and it runs along two former gravel pit ponds that are not adequately protected.

The road is dangerous for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. I no longer bike-commute because of the intimidation created by having to ride in the roadway. As a driver, I feel very nervous when approaching and overtaking bicyclists and pedestrians on the road.

this intersection has a weird hump to it and is difficult to gain traction for cars going west on Hurst at a stop, also in the wintertime the angle of the road puts the headlights of east bound Hurst traffic right at drivers eyes. consider adding a turn lane for east west Hurst Traffic, especially during 5pm or weekends

There is no safe way for pedestrians to cross the old Richardson Highway, the separated path that runs North along the Old Rich has no clear connection at this point to the path that continues down the old Rich (it jumps the tracks here).

this intersection is dangerous and in need of improvement, suggest overpass and removing left hand turns onto the interstate.

There should be a bike path or wider shoulder that connects the new widened shoulder on Hurst to Nelson and from Hurst to Plack. The US Army Corps has a wonderful bikepath that begins at Nelson and Laurence that should be connected as well

There is an increasing number of vehicles pulling out from Roland onto Chena Pump to turn left across traffic, especially in the morning. Many drivers on Chena Pump drive in excess of the speed limit of 45 mph, sometimes greatly in excess making pulling out to drive into town hazardous, particularly on icy roads. With an increasing number of residents in this area, and the Folk School perhaps moving here, the danger will only increase.

Roland Road has no guard rail by the drop-off, and a very narrow/no shoulder for much of its length, including by the drop-off. There is an increasing amount of traffic because of new residences, and the problem will be exacerbated if the Folk School moves here.

Roland Road was developed with out a proper right-of-way. As Chena Ridge developed over the last 35 years, traffic has increased to the point the Roland Road in no longer safe for vehicles, pedestrians or bicycles.

Roland Road is very dangerous with its narrow lanes, no shoulder, high volume of traffic & no speed bumps. This is a main thoroughfare for the easternmost section of the Fairbanks community. As such, it is deadly to pedestrian & bike traffic. The traffic on Roland Road has increased as new subdivisions are built. Roland Road residents want a bike path to keep its residents safe with the increased traffic. Please protect the local residents & create s bike path connecting all the local neighborhoods.

Roland has seen increased traffic over the last few years. The road is narrow with minimal shoulders, and step grades with no guard rails. In the winter, you'll find two to three vehicles that have slid off into the ditch, narrowly missing going down a step embankment/cliff. I was sucked off the road into the ditch because the snow berms had been plowed off and there was no shoulder. The rest of the year, it's just as dangerous to walk, run or bike. The traffic routinely goes over the speed limit and it's barely wide enough for two cars to pass each other. Walking with pets or children is out of the question. Please consider Roland for FMATS upgrades. This corridor had become an integral connector road to other neighborhoods.

I have twice seen a school bus stuck on the hill at the top of Roland. On one of these occasions, the bus was at a 90 degree angle, wheels barely still on the road. Fortunately no kids were harmed that time. Please at least put up guardrails to ensure that a vehicle won't roll down that steep embankment.
