This part of Market is very scary for bikes; minimal bike lane/shoulder, and without driveways under the bridge or other traffic calming measures, cars go much faster than the posted speed limit. Suggested fixes are to add/widen bike lane (a small painted buffer under the bridge would be ideal), narrow car lanes for speed reduction

Another request for a multi use path extension to connect all of East Cliff Drive just west of the harbor

  3. September 16 2015

Widen ramp path to/from Levee. There isn't enough room on this ramp for a bike and a pedestrian, but it seems like an easy and inexpensive fix.

The entry to the Arroyo Seco trail needs to be brought up to Class I standard.

Please make the left turn lane from Water onto Ocean (headed toward Hwy 17) sense bikes rather than making a biker cross 2 lanes of left turn traffic to hit a button in the middle of the street...after which said biker has to get back into traffic. it's not safe.

King St. needs to be explored as a bike boulevard/thru-way, as well. Many people need to commute that corridor (e.g.: Mission Hill), and it’s another viable way to move bike/ped traffic off of Mission. I would think a bike lane along King would be very popular

riding a bike on 41st is terrifying. the bike lanes are narrow, and there are so many cars. but the problems are hugely compounded by the fact that the bike lanes, in several places, just end. a cyclist will be riding along, and all of a sudden, they are smack dab in the middle of a car lane with lots of cars passing uncomfortably close.

Fixing the one "rugged" section of this connector trail, right after the bridge, could make it an excellent bike AND Ped connector on the West Side. Also, there needs to be signage to communicate to people the trail exists and where it goes.

Make it easier to get from north harbor to Murray st. headed west. Maybe a crossing over the RR tracks? Or build the trail asap

Please widen eastbound bike lane right before it intersects with Front St. There appears to be enough room to reconfigure all the travel and bike lanes at this spot. Also, stripe or green lane the path that the bicyclist takes through the intersection. This intersection is particularly challenging because through driving motor vehicles veer to the right to get out of left turn lane and follow the travel lane while drivers from downhill Front St veer to the left to be able to see and, for some, to turn onto Pacific. As a result cyclists get squeezed out.

  12. September 09 2015

Please continue sidewalk to the next crosswalk (or install another crosswalk across Pacific at the end of parking strip. Folks going to and from parked vehicles have to walk in the bike lane. There appears to be enough room to reconfigure all the travel and bike lanes in this area in order to accommodate a sidewalk, although a few parking spaces may have to be lost.

  13. September 09 2015

please restripe bike lane that was between Las Palmas and Front St until recently

  14. September 09 2015

Please remove the Walk Bike signs on this pathway where it goes under the trestle because the pathway remains wide enough for bidirectional bike travel and there is adequate site distance. Cyclists should not have to dismount when riding on a bike path.

  15. September 09 2015

Please extend curb cut to in front of the railroad crossing so cyclists have a means to exit the bike path onto Pacific Ave. Otherwise they must ride on the sidewalk and have a more difficult time of continuing eastbound

  16. September 09 2015

please cut back new gate arm that extends the whole width of the right lane onto the Wharf, since the Wharf is free to bikes so they should not have to stop and wait for a motor vehicle to trip the gate to open. The previous arm was cut back, this must be a new one.

  17. September 09 2015

please delineate a path for bicyclists to ride in through the center of Depot Park and remove the "Walk Bike' sign. There are pathways leading to both sides of this park which features a bike park, so continuous bicycle access should be provided. There is adequate area and site distance to avoid conflicts with pedestrians.

the bike lanes on broadway from downtown up to branciforte feel really narrow. the problem is compounded by the fact that cars park far from the curb because the curbs are really tall. green lanes would be nice, but maybe (is this possible) lowering the curb would help because cars could get closer to the curb and wouldn't impact the bike lane so much.

  19. September 09 2015

eek! riding on soquel is scary because the bike lanes are narrow and cars easily drift into the bike lane, and cars pulling out of driveways inch into the bike lane. green lanes from around caledonia all the way to the intersection with the highway would be great.

  20. September 09 2015

please install a multi-use path to fill in the gap of the bluff-top trail

  21. September 09 2015

please install a multi-use path to fill in the gap of the bluff-top trail

  22. September 09 2015

please continue missing sidewalk link between Las Palmas Taco Bar and intersection with Front St. This will require reconfiguring parking, but will eliminate conflicts between motorists, cyclists and pedestrians as the latter are now forced to walk in the bike lane

    Wayfinding

  24. September 09 2015

the left turn sensor (if you are on laurel, pointed down hill, trying to make a left onto california, heading to santa cruz high) doesn't recognize bicycles.

  25. September 09 2015

the sensors in the street (the ones on laurel, crossing mission) don't seem to recognize bicycles. if i am coming down laurel from king heading across mission, i have to ride up on the sidewalk and hit the crosswalk button in order to go straight if there aren't cars already waiting, tripping the light. otherwise i will just sit there and sit there until a car comes up behind me.

also, i suspect the powers that be would prefer if i don't make a left onto mission from laurel with my bike, but that is the easiest way to get to emily's bakery. plus, i work at santa cruz high, and because the street sensor at laurel and california also doesn't seem to recognize bikes, and there is no way to get a left turn light at that intersection, and the huge hill makes it really scary to make a left on the red, i often try to make a left on mission and a right onto rigg, which i can't do if the street sensor doesn't recognize me.
