It would be nice if there was an actual bike path here and you didn’t have to just use the wheelchair ramp. It can be hard to see if someone is coming in the other direction and it’s too narrow to pass anyone. This is a really important corridor connecting campus to college heights and neighborhoods north of the sunset park bike path, a better path would get a lot of use

Connect bike path that parallels Valley Vista Dr to the Grey's Wood bike path via a new bike path that begins at corner of Circleville Road and Valley Vista and extends along Circleville road to Circleville Park. This would connect neighborhoods along Circleville road and Grey's Woods (which is growing rapidly) to the rest of the the Centre Region's bike path arteries.

Indeed. It is currently impossible to travel all the way to Gray's Woods on a protected bike path.

If this bus stop had a pull-off, out of the flow of traffic, then cars would not stack up behind the stopped bus and then try to merge and pass the bus in such a problematic way. Having the bus stop operate independent of the traffic light would eliminate the urgency for crossing and passing, and the blind-spots for pedestrians and cars, which would reduce the bad interactions here.
Also, if the bus stop pull off was placed in the center of the crosswalk, with a barrier located at the front of the bus as to disallow pedestrians to go in front, then the bus could act as a gate for pedestrian crossings, and could be coordinated with the light timing. It would reduce the likelihood that pedestrians could even try to cross while the bus was at the stop, and allow a safe crossing after ti pulled away, like a gate.

Bus pull offs delay buses pulling back into traffic. It's more efficient to have 3 or even 7 cars waiting behind a bus to make sure the 20 or 40+ people on the bus aren't delayed.

THe new crosswalk is an improvement here. but what we really need is a bridge over park. maybe the bridge would be easier to achieve near shortlidge and park on psu land.

Many cars stop despite the large sign. The area in the middle is nice for waiting but feels a bit narrow and cramped if there is more than one person there

Suggest making a bridge over slab cabin that allows pedestrian and bike travel underneath. this will allow cyclists/pedestrians to cross atherton here. extending the trail along slab cabin in both directions would be even better. then make bike/pedestrian connectsions to university and garner on both N and S sides.

With the recently expanded arboretum and museum coming to completion it would be really nice if the University would invest in a pedestrian bridge to link north and south campus. It minimum it would be great to have arrow turn signals in all directions at this intersection. And a longer pedestrian signals to give pedestrians more time to get across the road before cars try to start turning. Visitors, faculty, staff, students cross at this intersection at a higher volume than before. Cars also frequently speed through this intersection/run red lights.

AMEN re. thinking about increased attendance at the new Palmer Museum and Arboretum. The closest bus stop currently is still about a 15-min walk away!

This stretch of Atherton, from the borough line to the pedestrian islands by Railroad Ave, requires improved speed limit enforcement. I drive the 25mph but am constantly passed by 35 to 45 mph vehicles. Even CATA and Borough vehicles pay little attention to the speed limit.

speeding on atherton is a major problem and a danger to pedestrians and other drivers alike

Both of these properties have been acquired by PSU. Use eminent do main to make traffic and pedestrian improvements for the sake of safety.
The current right-lane protected turn is a start, but given the space (and no businesses to displace) it provides a short timespan to take advantage of the vacancies in what was commercial property. PSU must make contributions to this plan, and can do-so with a few hundred square feet for intersection improvements.

Instead of condemning more land for car infrastructure, make this intersection safer by removing the right turn slip lane and making the intersection more like every other intersection downtown.

We should ban bicycles on Calder Alley, and make it pedestrian and vehicle only.

Calder Alley is the best place for low-stress biking downtown. We should reduce vehicle volumes by only allowing local traffic (no going straight; only turns out of Calder at each cross street) and add contra-flow bike lanes.
Like Liked 1 timeWe need to ban cars on Calder alley (at least during peak pedestrian hours). It’s the only safe place to bike downtown because cars are hostile to bikes on college and beaver.

Maybe we could add a bike lane make it, pedestrian and bike only on Saturdays -
This section of Fraser, from Calder to the Garage entrance/exit should be permanently closed for vehicle traffic. Build on the investment into the MLK plaza and community space. Maybe keep the bus zone for encouraging touring acts at the theatre and downtown, but limit access to authorized busses.

Eminent domain these properties and move the buss stop up from in front of the Church with a pull-off and good shelter. It is a popular stop, and a traffic flow and bicycle safety issue.
Putting in a chicane to slow cars down would be helpful. There have been two near-fatal accidents here, and a student died here from poor ownership and management of the property on the corner.Liked 1 time

Bus pull offs hurt transit, because they delay buses pulling back into traffic. Bus pull-offs almost always result in more people delayed in the bus than in cars no longer delayed behind it.

Take another shot at aligning Fraser St, after failing to do so during the "Fraser St Alignment Project". It causes backups for cars from the parking garage, and confusion for pedestrians and cars at the intersection. The right-of-way is muddied by the weird alignment.

As the Fraternity system continues to collapse, the Borough should plan ahead for acquisition of the properties for transportation/parking projects in the future. Most are aging and poorly kept, yet close enough to the core of downtown without needing to steal space from the commercial district.

Built a parking structure here to accommodate Memorial Field so that we can recoup the investments in it. Parking and access is a major hurdle for further utilization.

Street parking during State High football games works incredibly well today. Beaver Ave Garage provides even more parking. A parking garage here is not necessary.
