Something needs to be done with the new amount of pedestrians crossing this very large intersection. This light is not thoughtful to pedestrians and these students are running to make their bus across the street. Meanwhile people are flying thru red lights all the time here. Maybe a longer leading pedestrian interval.

It seems like there should be a way to connect the Westgate Building to the shared path that runs on the west side of Atherton. As a cyclist, I would love a way to use the building/bridge to avoid crossing Atherton. But I have not been able to find a way to do this, without going deep into the West Campus to get around buildings and construction projects. Maybe this will be addressed when construction is complete in that area, but just wanted to throw that out there.

Add Stop signs to Alleys feeding Bikeways.
A few of the alley's feeding Foster Ave do not have Stop Signs. H Alley is one. F Alley is another. I've watched vehicles blow right through Foster more than once.Liked 2 times

Agreed, I have seen the same and don't see any reason not to have stop signs here. I've always been extra careful the first couple weeks after move-in, which is when this is the worst. There's not really a way for new residents even to know they should stop.

We should limit road closures for events, parades, etc. on important CATA routes, especially Curtin Rd and College Ave. The closures make CATA service worse and significantly more confusing exactly at the times we want people to use transit most. I'm pretty certain this light does not automatically turn on the walk signal to cross Atherton St. Instead, people need to press the beg button. If someone gets to the intersection a second after the light changes, they have to wait an entire cycle to cross. It's insane to have lights that require beg button presses downtown and on campus, and we should make pedestrian signals automatic throughout the borough.

How do we still not have shelter from the rain at one of the most heavily-used CATA stops?

Indeed, esp. considering the too-many times I've waited (holding a small child) on a delayed CATA bus at this stop. (This is the stop that families using Schlow Library typically use to catch their bus.)

We should mandate that new buildings near transit stops downtown and on campus have climate-controlled lobbys for transit riders open 24/7. This is not a replacement for shelters on the street, since riders will want to wait outside a few mins before their bus arrives to make sure they don't miss it.

Often this bus stop is not cleared of snow. We should ensure the space between the road and the sidewalk is clear of snow at all bus stops; especially this one.

Any parking we build downtown should have housing above it, and we should try to site parking decks on existing private surface parking lots (especially church parking lots) so other land is left for mixed-use, walkable housing and jobs.

The parking lots east of Grace Lutheran Church seems like a great place for a parking deck.
