Every crash on this stretch is preventable, yet the lack of enforcement keeps stacking up tragedies.
Zero patrol presence has turned Cavendish to Runnymede into a fatal funnel for reckless driving.
This corridor has become a free-for-all because drivers know no one is watching.
Eight serious single-car crashes in the same stretch should be enough proof that enforcement here is nonexistent.
The traffic is this area has changed in the past 20 years. As such, suggest that the left lane be used for straight and left, and allow right lane for right turns only. About 1 in 5 cars goes straight, while the others could be going right on red, which will improve the efficiency of traffic here.
This stretch is 25mph, while drivers average about 35. Either boost the speed limit and/or increase the speed traps.
I didn't like this light at first, but now I think this whole intersection has improved and is safer. This light cycle is the shortest in the town, which is a relief.
Great Improvements from those years past. Thank You.
Now, the only problem are the light runners during rush hour. The town could be funded alone by issuing tickets for these light runners.
The average speed of cars on the inner loop exceeds the speed limits. At night, cars will race at high speeds. There have been a few high speed wrecks here since 1997.
I hate to say it, but a light is needed for this intersection, as it's just unsafe whether walking, biking or driving. I would hope that all the lights on Elden Street could be managed with traffic flow information technology.
Just about every light cycle, a car will increase its speed to dangerously run this light. I believe the accident data will show it, but regardless, we need a mechanism to police and issue tickets for this ever growing dangerous practice that has become normalized.
In the evening rush hour, cars routinely hit 40mph right through this residential apartment area. Need to have enforcement here.
Sensor for the left-turn lane exiting the shopping center is damaged or permanently tripped, so the left turn arrow activates in *every* cycle, even when no cars are present. Through traffic on Elden St. gets delayed for non-existent left turners, even at 4 AM when no other cars are around.
Drug deals and crime are rampant here. Its not safe for parents to park their cars here for the middle school and sports fields. Illegal aliens gather here.
This spot is a haven for crime (check Herndon Police and Fairfax Police crime reports, and illegal activities, and illegal aliens. Pedestrians jaywalk here as well as bikes are crossing the street routinely without regard to traffic lights and crosswalks..
Far too many speeders on Spring Street in both directions. Could the section between Van Buren and Oak st on old Spring St be residential only? Far too many people use it as a cut through (often after visiting the bars) for those of us who live on the street to let our kids ride bikes or play on the sidewalk or in our front yards.
Traffic through the neighborhood would cause an unsafe condition for the residents along this street. It would be an easy short cut to the parkway and Sterling road. DO NOT allow this to happen please
Consider a traffic light at this intersection or closing the exit forcing folks to use the exit with a light.
Jaywalking is causing an unsafe situation and destroying landscaping placed in the median. A more permanent and attractive solution is needed.
People are not crossing at the cross walks causing unsafe conditions and destroying the landscaping. A more permanent and attractive solution is desired
Blind intersection for traffic going North on Jackson.. Needs to be a 4-way stop.
Add missing segment of sidewalk.
Why is the turn at this intersection so tight and narrow? The utility poles are part of the problem being placed way too close to the intersection.
Build a sidewalk on the East side to fill this very long missing segment.
Connect Branch Street making easier to access downtown from this side of town.
