Very poor pavement on Churn Creek from Rancho road to Huntington Dr. I've damaged a bicycle wheel going into a large parallel crack in the road along this section in the past. Shoulder is always covered with dirt and gravel

Should have green paint where the bike lane crosses the right turn lane fromPark Marina onto Locust

While California St is nice to ride on with the bike lane the timing of the stoplights make it a very slow route since you will always get caught with two red lights and most of the time 3 red lights. The lights you will get stopped at most of the time are Eureka Way, Shasta St and Tehama. A fair amount of time you will also get stopped at Yuba St. These tend to belong lights which make California sort of impracticable since you get stuck at long reds so often in such a short distance.

In the bike lane heading south on Churn Creek are a couple of places where the man hole cover is depressed and there is a large and dangerous lip right in the middle of the bike lane. Hitting one of these lips can easily cause someone to crash. IN the first case you have to leave the bike lane to safely get past this lip. In the second case you have to squeeze past on the far right of the bike lane if you try to stay in the lane and avoid th lip. The first lip has been marked with some orange paint to make it more visible.

Given current foot traffic patterns, distance between crossings, and the existing intersection, the should be a market crosswalk across Pine in this vicinity.

Striped crosswalks at this intersection, please.

Can this be changed to allow people on bikes using this short concrete path to access the bicycle lane (such as it is) at this point? Otherwise a dismount is required, I think?

Unless it has changed since autumn, you have to dismount your bicycle at this security checkpoint and it is a drag.

Wayfinding signage to Turtle Bay School would be good to add. River Trail could be a great school bikeway to several schools (TB, Sequoia, Shasta, Uprep)

Right turn only makes it illegal for bikes to continue straight onto Yuba without dismounting and using the crosswalk. Suggestion: Signage to read,Right turn only except bikes

Impossible connection for strollers and bikes to enter this neighborhood due to tight "L" shaped fencing. This should and could easily be removed.

Steps make it difficult to access River Trail via bike. Could a tire rail be put into stair case? Is there another access point between here and west to 10 bridges that could be an easier way for bikes to access the trail? (no paved trails that are easy for kids/non mountain bikers)

Separated bike path along Eureka Way/299 would be ideal from Ridge (or further west) to Shasta High and Uprep. Speeds are way too high in this residential area (45-55 mph!!) Speed shouldn't get faster until west of Buenaventura.

Enhance pedestrian crossing to allow for residents to access River Trail from Manzanita School neighborhood and students to access MZ school. There are no ped crossings on 299 from Buenaventura to Walnut. One is needed badly (a woman and child in stroller were hit here a few years ago) showing people do want to cross and it's not safe and easy.

Provide a shared use path for residents to get to Holiday Market on Placer. This path could extend down to Buenaventura or "10 Bridges Trail" leading to the River Trail. Bike lane has been improved, but BV is very fast and wide -posted 45 mph.

Safer crossing here for peds and bikes. Road is supersized and difficult at peak travel times especially to cross. Children living in Mary Lake attend Manzanita School and could walk/bike to school if this was improved. Many residents like walking around Mary Lake and mountain biking on the westside trails. This crossing would allow for more people to bike and walk from home to these destinations.

This is nerve-wrecking for southbound cyclists descending at a high rate-of-speed and navigating with cars turning right. There should be a waiting lane for cyclists continuing south at this intersection to avoid right hooks and a green to indicate cyclists will be merging.

There should be a better gateway to the park here than a plain parking lot, and there should be an easy bicycle connection to the river trail for southbound cyclists coming off North Market Street. If I recall correctly, it is necessary to dismount to get to the trail.

Why are there not better pedestrian connections between the park and the neighborhoods north of it?

No sidewalks or bike lanes here and it's a confusing free-for-all where motorists go too fast and are not looking carefully.

I would imagine it would be anywhere from difficult to impossible to secure the right-of-way, but a short path running riverside from Continental to Pine would make for a lovely stroll with incredible views.

The street here is incredibly wide with wide lanes, and there is little to encourage/force traffic to slow from freeway to surface street speeds until they encounter a red-light, which if they hit it right, could be as far west as Court Street.

Traffic begins accelerating to freeway-like speeds as far back as Market and Tehama, but usually no later than this intersection. Combined with the huge parking lots, this feels like a no-go zone to a lot of people.

The signal cycles at this intersection are way too long and eastbound traffic speeds all along Shasta because there is little to calm them coming off the freeway.

I use California as a route into downtown from the north when commuting because there are no bike lanes on Market and drivers are too fast & inattentive. Bicycle detection across Eureka way is not reliable and signal cycles are way too long.
