This one-way street interrupts the East Coast Greenway going north. It would be easy to make a bike lane going the other way. This would let folks riding their bikes (or running) East on Arrundely safely and directly access the levee trails, which connect to the NW branch trail.

This levee trail could be connected to Rhode Island avenue. There is already a cat trail from people walking and biking through the grass here. Clearly, the people are asking for it!

This seemingly minor change would make a huge difference in connectivity for nearby neighborhoods.

A high number of killed or serious injured collisions here. It's like one big slack lane inviting pedestrians to test cars and vice versa.

Not disagreeing that we should find ways to make this intersection safer, but for the sake of accuracy in public discussion, according to county (2015-21) and state (2015-22) crash data, there have not been any fatal crashes (by any means of travel) at this intersection since 2015. Looking at people traveling on foot or by bicycle, specifically, there have been 3 crashes involving pedestrians and cyclists since 2015 (2 crashes resulted in people with possible incapacitating injuries, 1 had a person with non-incapacitating injuries).

I'm not sure the roundabout is to blame - it seems like there would be a lot of similar or worse issues of trying to travel by bike or on foot through a 6-point intersection controlled by a traffic signal. Maybe Mount Rainier and its residents would be open to closing off some of the streets (e.g., Perry Street) to car traffic to simplify the intersection?

Reduce MD 212 median between Chapman Road and Drexel Street by several feet, shift northbound travel lanes to the left and combine extra space with the existing east side sidewalk to create a shared-use path that would facilitate east-west bicycle travel south of and parallel to MD 193.

The entrance to the park would really benefit from a 4way stop, raised intersection, round about, or some other way of slowing car traffic and improving pedestrian safety at a place where kids often cross the street. Currently cars go through Alta Vista too fast, especially when they are coming from 355, which seems dangerous here with all the kids coming in and out of the park.

In addition the whole access to the park is problematic. Children who go in or out of the park by foot or bicycle use a road where cars go in and out to park on the park parking, and circulate behind parked cars in the parking. Also the slope out of the park is dangerous for beginner cyclists who may not yet by comfortable with brakes.

Revise snow removal policies on state highways so that snow dumped on adjacent sidewalks from roadways must be removed by state highway crews or contractors .

Also include landscape buffers and street trees between the sidewalk and travel lanes. That will provide some space for plowed snow the handful of times it snows here each winter. It will also help make walking along state-maintained roads far more pleasant the other 350+ days a year.
