Sidewalk ends partway down Old Frederick Road as it narrows and approaches four-way stop with Oella Ave, creating hazardous conditions for visitors and local residents attempting to access Benjamin Banneker Historic Park. No pedestrian refuge on either side of the road as walkers approach the intersection.

Heavily used pedestrian crossing point from Colonial Gardens and Points North to Catonsville Junction and Elementary/Middle Schools nearby has no marked pedestrian crossing despite being sole crossing point for hundreds of local residents. Crossing is 60+ feet wide and navigates across Edmonson Ave with traffic accelerating downhill from both directions in poorly lit conditions at night.

Blind right vehicle turn point from traffic circle created hazardous pedestrian friction point for pedestrians moving west up Edmonson Ave toward traffic circle. No sightlines for traffic traveling North up Old Frederick Road proceeding into traffic circle to view pedestrian traffic coming from right (often kids walking to school). Has caused several near-misses in the past year.

Heavily walked area used by local residents and PVSP users to access Hilton Area of park and CCBC trail accesses via McCurley. This turn is a blind corner with no pedestrian refuge/sidewalk and a faded bike shoulder, resulting in high friction point between vehicles and pedestrians/bikers. Crude desire path can be viewed on West side of Hilton Ave.

Hazardous, high trafficked bike and pedestrian thoroughfare to/from surrounding neighborhoods into and out of Patapsco Valley State Park. Pedestrians and bikers must contend with 45mph traffic from both directions, including traffic rapidly increasing speed through a blind turn to the East from S Rolling Road.

With the Purple Line coming, there should be all-ages and abilities bike facilities and improved sidewalks to connect nearby residential neighborhoods to the stations. There seems to be a gap in planned pedestrian and bicyclists facilities to complement the Purple Line along Riverdale Road and Veterans' Pkwy.

Baltimore Ave should have protected or grade separated bike lanes (similar to what was installed in front of College Park City Hall). MDSHA's current project [US 1 (Baltimore Ave) College Ave/Regents Dr to MD 193 (University Blvd) - Safety improvements] is a missed opportunity - the unprotected 5-foot bike lanes were not the right facility for the context of downtown College Park/UMD. MDSHA should revise its Context Driven Guide for increased granularity - areas within the beltway of Prince George's County, largely street car suburbs with access to Metro stations and future Purple Line Stations - should include pedestrian and bicyclist facilities on state roads that support transit and transit-oriented development, especially within the bikeshed of Metro and Purple Line stations.

While there is a bus stop on the NE corner of this intersection, there are no marked crosswalks and none of the pedestrian signals provide safe opportunities for people to cross the street. MDSHA should, by default, install marked crosswalks at all signalized intersections in Prince George's County inside the beltway.

With the Purple Line coming, Kenilworth Ave (MD-201) needs substantial sidewalk and bike lane improvements to support transit use and transit-oriented development in the area. Bike lanes should be all ages and abilities, which based on the speed and traffic volume on Kenilworth means protected bike lanes or separated, shared-use paths. Sidewalks and share-use paths should have buffers with street trees.

MDSHA should redesign and rebuild East-West Hwy (MD 410) to increase pedestrian, cyclist and public transit access to the homes, businesses and Hyattsville Crossing Metro Station in this area. There should be all ages and abilities bike facilities (protected or separated share-use paths) and wide sidewalks (or shared-use paths) with buffers from car traffic. MD-410 should be an avenue for non-motorist access to this area, not the barrier it currently is.

MDSHA should install a crosswalk on the northside of the intersection of Jefferson Street and Baltimore Avenue. The foot traffic and increased development in this area warrant it. MDSHA should default to installing crosswalks on all sides of intersections in Prince George's County, especially in the streetcar suburbs within the beltway.

To support the transit-oriented development and economic development the county and state want to see around the West Hyattsville Metro Station, Chillum Rd (MD-501) needs to have protected bike lanes, or shared-use paths, and improved sidewalks. With an AADT under 17,000, Chillum Road should be narrowed to one travel lane in either direction for motor vehicles, which will further increase pedestrian and cyclist safety and support desired walkable, sustainable development in the area.

Based on the posted speed limit, operating speed, and volume of traffic, Queens Chapel Road (MD-500) needs all-ages and abilities bike lanes (protected or separated paths) to keep people safe and support the type of transit-oriented development the state and county want to see in this area. The recent redesign was insufficient to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety.

Hamilton St (MD-208) should have a separated, shared-use path or bike lane to support access to public transit at the nearby West Hyattsville Metro Station, and improve pedestrian and cyclists access. Gaps in the sidewalk should be filled. With an AADT of under 17,000, the road should be narrowed to one travel lane in either direction for motor vehicles.
