Route 220 South to Cumberland. There are minimal shoulders in places. Leading to the partial roundabout at 220 and I-68, there is no shoulder and very steep. There is no traffic violation enforcement in this area. A potential solution would be a bike/walk path to the Allegany County office buildings at the base of the hill leading to the roundabout. There is a rail line that leads to the All. Co. office buildings (the property was the former Kelly Springfield plant which had its own railline. Potentially an easement could be obtained to reach the All. Co. office buildings. Aside from making biking to Cumberland easier (by taking out the steep hill), adding a bike/walk path would open the communities of Bowling Green, Potomac Park, and Cresaptown to Cumberland.

MDOT/MDSHA should move forward with installing protected bike lanes along River Road (MD 431) to improve access to and between the Purple Line stations (see MWCOG Discovery District Multi-Use Trail Transit Access Plan (July 2022)). MDOT/MDSHA should work to install the protected bike lanes to open in advance of or in conjunction with the opening of the Purple Line.

This street seems like it would be an ideal place for MDSHA to pilot/test quick build protected bike lanes (e.g., incredibly wide road, with very low traffic volumes, relatively few intersections). Installing a short-term quick build soon/now would benefit access to the existing Metro station and acclimate/accustom drivers when a longer-term design with completion of the Purple Line.

there are a street sign and utility pole right next to each other on the sidewalk that makes it impossible for a stroller, wheelchair or sometimes even 1 person to safely walk on the sidewalk. There is a raised barrier on the business side so peds have to walk into the busy route 1 street.

Crossing First St/Norbeck Rd on Baltimore Rd is scary and I've had a few near misses. When driving through the intersection I routinely see cars turning dangerously close to pedestrians crossing in the sidewalk with a walk signal.
The pedestrian walk signals are poorly timed (no leading interval) and the most used crosswalk (across the north side of the intersection) is unprotected. Someone crossing in the crosswalk with a walk signal has to both look behind and ahead of them, as cars can enter the crosswalk from eastbound Baltimore Rd due to 'yield on green' and from westbound Baltimore Rd via right on red.
This should really be a 'no turn on red' intersection (it already is in one direction, eastbound on Baltimore Rd). And the walk signal (when requested) should be protected. Ideally the intersection would be modified to make the crossing distance less, as it takes 10-15 seconds as a healthy person walking briskly.
As a pedestrian, the walk signal (which already needs to be requested with a button, it's not on a timer) should be protected from traffic.
As a driver, the sightlines are too dangerous to allow 'right on red' turns, even when traffic is calmer. If the crosswalk light is on

Housing developer was allowed to tear up hiker biker trail. There is now a long section of pavement missing down the center of the trail and also the width of the trail in at least 1 area. Developer/contractors now park their vehicles on the trail.
Why build facilities if they are allowed to be destroyed and not maintained?Liked 1 time

Very dangerous bike lane. The bike lane along Veirs Mill Road/MD 586 heading toward Twinbrook Parkway gets narrower and narrower and then ends mid-block. There is no curb cut out where bike lane end to enable getting on (narrow) sidewalk. This is a horribly dangerous bike lane, putting unsuspecting cyclist on a highway with cars going too fast.

Unsafe walking conditions at 260/261. Red right turn is used as a yield and not a stop on red for drivers. No enforcement. No visible walking path noted for drivers. Speed huge factor going down 260. Speed cameras would be hugely beneficial and from my view point lucrative. Also speedlight should be no greater than 25/30. Average driver prob goes 45/50.

Please create a safe connection for bikers and walkers between the NCR and Warren Road Light Rail Station. This would allow a lot of people to access the Light Rail without using a car and Light Rail riders to access many miles of trail without using a car.

This is currently under study by Baltimore County. Add the "NCR Extension Trail to Jones Falls Trail" to the Master Plan.

No sidewalk in this very busy section of York Road, which is near a Light Rail Station and Lutherville Elementary Schoo. There is a steep hill and a guardrail that makes the walk very unsafe. Many pedestrians use this corridor to access retail and medical facilities.

Dangerous intersection: Westbound 28 at ICC trail/Wintergate drive needs to be "No Right Turn on Red" and enforced. I've seen many near misses with cars turning right without stopping or looking for walkers, cyclists in crosswalk. ... Probably all similar intersections of hiker/biker trails crossing roads at signal controlled intersections should be No Turn on Red. NOTE: This "challenge" i.e., DANGER applies to both biking and walking, like many (most?) others.

There is a very long deep crack in the pavement that will cause a bad crash if a cyclist's tire hits it; it would not be possible for a bike tire to enter the crack without the cyclist crashing! This was reported to the MD SHA last summer and nothing has been done. Maybe more important than big new projects is to think about walkers and bikers when maintaining existing infrastructure; but I guess that does not look as impressive on resumes.

The wall between the crosswalk/sidewalk and the parking lot should be cut and a ramp installed so cyclists, wheelchair/walker users, etc. can go straight ahead from the crosswalk and continue going north along the west side of Georgia av (connecting to the service lane and later the trail). Also, an issue with this intersection that might not be obvious is that with a group of cyclists, the ones in the back of the pack will stack up (dangerously) waiting in the intersection while cyclists at the front either go around the wall or try to make the very tight turn down the sidewalk to the left/west. ... Note: Category should also include handicapped (e.g., wheelchair, walker, etc.); sidewalks, crosswalks, and their connecting routes need to be ADA compliant.

There is no marked crosswalk at the north, south, or east ends of this intersection between E Towsontown Blvd and Virginia Ave. I understand these are county roads, but it would be excellent if the state could work with the county to improve pedestrian facilities here; it is very challenging to cross this street safely as a pedestrian.

This intersection has no apparent signage indicating to drivers that they should yield for pedestrians crossing the existing marked crosswalk across E Towsontown Blvd. I understand these are county roads, but it would be excellent if the state could work with the county to improve pedestrian facilities here.

There is a great opportunity for a marked crosswalk across E Towsontown Blvd from the end of Meridian Ln to the south to the library to the north. I understand E Towsontown Blvd is a county road, but it would be excellent if the state could work with the county to improve pedestrian facilities here. In the meantime, pedestrians often cross the street here at their own risk.

Crossing the southernmost crosswalk across E Joppa Rd adjacent to York Rd is very dangerous, as drivers exiting the traffic circle headed eastbound often do so at speed and/or without a turn signal. I have personally witnessed at least 3 close calls here over the past few weeks where a pedestrian was nearly hit by a driver while legally crossing this crosswalk. I understand E Joppa Rd is a county-managed road, but it would be excellent if the state could work with the county to improve pedestrian facilities here.
